I don't know how to thank you enough for this. My wife and I will be visiting Scandinavia for the first time in June 2020. But at the end of the tour in Oslo, we will fly to the Lofoten Islands for the main purpose of visiting Reine. I've had that iconic photo of Reine on my wall for 30 years. I only recently discovered that it was Reine. It was taken during one of those calm days so the reflections off the water are there. I'll be bringing my new camera, a Sony a6000, that I used for the first time during a trip to the Balkans a few months ago. I noticed that you use it too. And thank you for pointing out the best photography locations.
Another great video with stunning images, Mads. Thank you for sharing your thought processes and demonstrating so convincingly how the correct light can turn a good photograph into a truly awe inspiring one.
I can't wait to get back to Europe. After watching so many of your videos I have a very long list of places to visit or revisit in Europe. Yes, I will try to make (copy) many of the same images that you have shared with us. Thank you.
Photography for me is all about the light. Light is what allows me to create a mood, whether that mood is lyrical, playful, or mysterious. It is all about seeing the light and incorporating it into your composition.
Once again Mads, you have managed to bring myself and my wife on your photography adventure. We love the detail you provide and look forward to every episode. Great work my friend, keep it up. Simply stunning images!
Entertaining and educational as always Mads. I preferred the shot with the light on the town I think it just lifted it. The composite shot with the northern lights was amazing
Thanks again for your lovely upload, it was fun when I also saw a composition of the yellow house and after a while you also saw it and photographed it just as I imagine 😀😀
Hi Mads. Loving your channel. Your images are outstanding and you've got a great presentation style. Lofoten always looks a stunning location - so pristine and unspoilt. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to get there one day !! Thanks for sharing.
Love to see how your channel is growing, Mads. I always look forward to your videos. Your hard work is being noticed and it's well deserved! PS: I absolutely love the composition at 7:36. So clean and geometric! Belongs in a gallery.
Nice to see you brother in youtube, hopefully this year im heading to Norway and planning to explore it differently. Great insight and information, thank you so much and hope to see more. Stay safe and sound dear
Hello Mads. Looking forward to a trip in May. Depending on budget, it’ll be either Lofoten, Faroe Islands or Skye in Scotland. The overall trip will be 8 or 9 days so as to have at least 5 days on the spot. Your videos continue to be inspiring and your e-book is a clear, concise and practical course on Composition. One again, many heartfelt thanks from a 70 year-old fledgling landscape photographer.
Stunning place! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and tricks wih us. Really interesting. Enjoy northern Norway :) Cheers from Romsdalen, in the middle of Norway.
Love the image with the little yellow house, its simple good muted colors and just enough of everything in the frame, one of your best images in these series. The other composite with aurora I dont like too much because I know its a composite now :D But thats just me. Great video.
Been a challenging and long day at work so was saving this episode till tonight as what a great way to decompress by watching your latest release Mads. The colours of the buildings combined with the surrounding colour and light was beautifully captured by you. One question is whether you run photography workshops as you have such a natural ability to put over your content to your viewers
Great video, another location on my list because of your vlogs ..... i ending up in your footsteps every time :) ...... are you considering giving workshops ?
Just got back from Iceland inspired by your videos cold and windy this time of the year Norway look like another cool place Can i ask what time of year did you go and how were the roads to these fabulous places Thank you Gary
Hej Mads, endnu en fremragende video - skal selv til Lofoten og genser lige dine fine film derfra jo - det udsigtspunkt du står på omkring 2:44 - har du evt. koordinaterne på det - der hvor stien begynder fx ?
I googled it and there were lots of others saying that the MW position is wrong, I wonder if perhaps I have some setting that is incorrect. Have you found your MW location is accurate?
very very nice Mads, for me you're the best at this moment with these videos on these beautiful place photogrpahier, very good work Mads. I have a question is it possible to contact you by MP I will have some questions concerning the hirings to lodge ? I'm planning my trip to Lofoten next year in March and I do not want to miss it
Hi Mads, still a great video, I am revisiting your Norway videos and Lofoten in particular because I am planning to visit Norway this summer. My widest lens is 24mm and I am struggling to complete with a widest one, I have the choice between a 16mm (16-50) and 14mm (14-28) but with complexe filter system (no thread for a filter system), have you an advice for me? the 16 is more versatile so I have more chance to use it on a regular basis but.... By the way I followed your masterclass last summer, that was great ;-)
16mm ought to be enough for Lofoten. But if you already have a complex filter system the more with you have between your lenses I'd argue the better :)
@@MadsPeterIversen thanks a lot Mads, really appreciated, I can’t wait to go there, I will land at Copenhagen and spend 2 days there before taking the road
Hi Mads, So I have a question you can hopefully answer. I already have the TPE. Is the TPE 3D different? If so, is it a separate app, and is it worth getting? I saw that it is an additional 11.99, which is no big deal price wise, but wanted to make sure it was worth the extra cost. thx
I would advise you to check photo pills. There are versions for both android and iOS. It has way more features than TPE and in my opinion it is really worth its price. They also have articles and videos to help you learn the features of the app.
Lofoten is certainly still on my list, but then I also hear that like Iceland it has become overrun by people, in your video it does not appear to be as bad as what I have witnessed in Iceland last October
Hi Mads, TPE is a great program (I had been using their desktop free app) but I recently bought photo pills and it is more rich in features compared to TPE. They have versions for both android and iOS and it is worth the price. They also have articles and videos to help people learn how to use the app and you can save the info of whatever you are planning to shoot in the planner. in this way you can have the information with you in the form of a photographic journal.
what a disappointment ! I thought that orange cabin in Sakrisoy was a lonely house in the middle of nowhere but it's just in the center of a town 😀 ! Don't get me wrong, great video and light-tutorial Mads ! Thank you !
Thoroughly enjoyable Mads! I always love what you put together, but especially enjoy the honesty with the difficulty and challenge of what it really takes to get these shots. You're clearly extremely talented but it's your sacrifice and effort that puts you in position to use that talent. Thanks again!
Love this location. Everyone shoots there but I never tire of looking at the light on the mountains, buildings and water. Infinite possibilities.
James Johnston infinite indeed! I could return here again and again :)
Love the light hitting the white house and the solitary house.
Yeah, it looked really great :)

You're very welcome, Greg! I can imagine it must be special seeing that place with your own eyes then :)

Tony Turner thank you very much! :)
I can't wait to get back to Europe. After watching so many of your videos I have a very long list of places to visit or revisit
in Europe. Yes, I will try to make (copy) many of the same images that you have shared with us. Thank you.
You should definitely go, but try to make something unique, but form the same perspective ;)
Photography for me is all about the light. Light is what allows me to create a mood, whether that mood is lyrical, playful, or mysterious. It is all about seeing the light and incorporating it into your composition.
Yes, very much Richard! I hope you're doing well back home :)

Entertaining and educational as always Mads. I preferred the shot with the light on the town I think it just lifted it. The composite shot with the northern lights was amazing

I was here back in 2015, but the weather was super-stormy for the two nights I was at Reine... so I didn't get many shots. Now I want to go back!
You should go back! I hope for better weather for you :)
As always great video Mads ! great tones !
Bobin Chandradas thanks a lot as always :)

Thanks Christian! I probably shouldn't say it out loud then ;)
Been a challenging and long day at work so was saving this episode till tonight as what a great way to decompress by watching your latest release Mads. One question is whether you run photography workshops as you have such a natural ability to put over your content to your viewers
scotty4418 thanks a lot as always! Yes I do run workshops. But I'll announce more in the future :)
Another enjoyable video, love the northern lights composite photo. Have you ever done a photographing the northern light video?
A.T.Fellows78 thanks a lot! Nope, that'll come in the future :)
Great as always Mads,
Loved the little house image. What's winter been like over your way?
Thanks a lot! Well been in Iceland since 2nd Feb. It's been all kind of weather. Lots of snowstorms and wind, but also Frost and thaw... :)
Great video, another location on my list because of your vlogs ..... i ending up in your footsteps every time :) ...... are you considering giving workshops ?
Hi Mario, yes I'm doing workshops, I'll post more about it soon :)

It's still the Canon 5Ds :)
Just got back from Iceland inspired by your videos cold and windy this time of the year Norway look like another cool place
Can i ask what time of year did you go and how were the roads to these fabulous places
Thank you
Gary
Roads were fine, I was there in November and awesome you went to Iceland :)
Is a telephoto lens, say 70-200mm, or 100-500mm useful there? Thanks.
Takes me back to my trip to Lofoten in 2011 when I had just got a DSLR
Great stuff Mads
How topical is that, see following link...www.bbc.co.uk/news/in-pictures-43472907
I know, Mikkel is one of my friends. Been travelling with him on several occasions - check out my video from Hallstatt :)
Hej Mads, endnu en fremragende video - skal selv til Lofoten og genser lige dine fine film derfra jo - det udsigtspunkt du står på omkring 2:44 - har du evt. koordinaterne på det - der hvor stien begynder fx ?
when will you come on Netflix?! these videos are as good as a TV series...
paolollo 17 I don't know... Not even Thomas Heaton is, so there'll probably be a long way for little me ;)
Hello, just a heads up, I don't think that the Milky Way position in Google Earth is accurate. I compared it to Stellarium and it is way off.
Aaron Jenkin that should be a first. But good to know! :)
Yeah, it was really no problem during the end of November when we were there :)
What Sony camera are you using to photograph? Looks like a6000 but plz correct me if I’m wrong
Great content as always!
I miss your settings on the images! It provided good informational context.
The settings don't really matter. If you've seen all my "settings" videos you should have a very good idea now what to do :)
Hi Mads, TPE is a great program (I had been using their desktop free app) but I recently bought photo pills and it is more rich in features compared to TPE. Yes I know about it - it just doesn't have the 3D feature which I talk about in the video ;)
what a disappointment ! I thought that orange cabin in Sakrisoy was a lonely house in the middle of nowhere but it's just in the center of a town 😀 ! Don't get me wrong, great video and light-tutorial Mads ! Thank you !
Haha it's mostly like that ;)
It would be intresting with black and white in a square formate.
Well, is the picture whith the Hammarskaft and the northerligtghts a composit of two pictures? It,s really douteble whath youre doing then..
Yup, it's a composite ;)
Trés pédagogique l'utilisation de google earth. Merci
Thoroughly enjoyable Mads! I always love what you put together, but especially enjoy the honesty with the difficulty and challenge of what it really takes to get these shots.
