The average Irish home produces about 1 tonne of waste, every year. Over the course of 2023, I aim to remove 1 tonne of waste from the Irish Outdoors, as my way of giving something back for all the amazing memories it's given me.

Brilliant Ellie, we can't afford to divorce our walking in the environment and our responsibility to look after it, our use of irish habitats to restore our bodies and minds and the desperate need to restore and support those same habitats in the current crisis. Such a great idea. Cant wait to see how you get on.
Wow, great job Ellie! I'm impressed! I live in Northern Ireland since 2014 and it was always sad and shocking to see that many irish young people and teens just don't care. They throw rubbish everywhere! I often borrow a litter picker from my workplace and take a walk to pick plastic, beer cans, all sorts of packaging and etc. Unfortunately every weekend some "lovely" lads and chicks leave new waste..
Hope to see more videos like this and more young folks evolved in eco-projects!

Hi Ellie, that sure sounds like a great idea for 2023, and beyond hopefully. In my experience I’ve only found relatively small amounts of litter on trail. The real problem IMHO is the litter black spots where unfortunately people just mess up the place. I’ve been volunteering with Tidy Towns for years now and we routinely pick tons of litter, it never ends, we occasionally have to deal with bigger problems and the Council guys are a great help. Long story short they’re are probably folks about your place who can help. Happy New Year.
Brilliant. I picked up what I could on the glenbarrow trail. It amazes me how people discard rubbish in beautiful places.
