You could always consider dying the white pants! I've dyed a pair of beige linnen pants green, and now they are my favourite pair during the summer. :)
I second that! I had a white jumpsuit I bought for basically pennies but i don't wear white at all so after months of it gathering dust - i dyed it dark green and i really love it. Especially that the threads and the zipper stayed white so it has this fun contrast

I think maybe the reason the blue and orange outfit looked better in the app is because the orange looks more saturated in the photo, so it can shine equally with the bright blue. But in person, the orange is a bit desaturated so it kinda dulls down to be neutral, if that makes sense

I really enjoyed that you gave Rae some items to wotk with. It gave using the Feed a bit more direction. You could have her styling some items you love but you mostly wear the same way 🤷♀️
What has helped me wear all the clothes in my closet is every Sunday night, i choose five pieces of clothing to style for the week and plan 5 outfits around those pieces. Its really fun and helps for in the mornings when your trying to make up an outfit you already did all that Sunday night so now you just get to choose from the 5 outfits you planned
So first of all, I could listen to you talk about your wardrobe and books all day! And I absolutely love your style! I find your wardrobe content so inspiring- from a sense of always honoring your values while also just having such a great and distinct style point of view. You don’t make content for content’s sake, it is thoughtful and true to you and your wardrobe- which ironically makes it so much more relatable than the generic style videos out there! I just love listening to your thought processes as you evaluate outfits. I wish I was able to articulate so beautifully how and why items/combos work or don’t. So please keep these kinds of videos coming! It’s also quite interesting and inspiring to me personally that your first inkling is to dress down because my first instinct is that dress up to feel put together. (This sometimes lands me feeling a little overdressed) So it’s quite helpful to see your little tweaks to dress outfits down while still retaining the personality and cohesion. I have to say I think all of the pieces look great on you and I greatly enjoyed the outfits, but the first two - the blouse and agreen pants were definitely my favorites! sorry this got so long 😅

that makes sense. I feel like the jacket wasn't working because of a fabric issue, which she referred to as vibes. The jacket fabric reads more fall and it looks odd paired with summer-weight fabrics like the skirts.
(1) I love all your wardrobe videos, and I’m sure I’ll enjoy a closet refresh video. (2) I suspect the bomber jacket is partly challenging because of its length. It hits you on your thighs in a spot that (almost?) none of your other clothing items do. I bet that’s not a coincidence, but rather due to you not liking the look of that length. The bomber jacket could be styled with with the same orange pants and the pink Cure t-shirt in my opinion. Also with anything orange/brown/camel - with a warmer color on the bottom and another graphic tee or something simpler
100% agree with what you were saying about black!! I find that when I want to wear something black, I usually end up wearing all black because I just don’t know how else to combine it in a way that I like. I really liked both of the outfits Rae made with that black blouse when you stripped them back, and it definitely gave me some inspo!
I combine black with colour but only with dark hued colours. Black and brown. Or black and burgundy. So always a low contrast combination. Although I love black and white or high contrast pattern they never look good on me. But I am a low contrast soft autumn girl..

The jacket is incredible! You should keep it :),I think it works so well with the rust trousers because blue and orange are complementary colours and in that outfit the jacket is the star of the show. ❤

Loved this format and it was perfect to watch to get me in the mood for my wardrobe sort that I'm about to start right now! The hardest thing I find to do is get rid of items I love but never reach for because they just don't feel like me... and I think that's what the bomber jacket is. If you're struggling to like it even when you're styling with other items that you love and feel like you, it's probably not for your wardrobe. You deserve to love your wardrobe and you looked the least comfortable in the bomber jacket... so I'd vote for that to be replaced by something you do really love ❤

I really loved the bomber jacket with the yellow skirt in the outfit you put together yourself! I think it just needs a different top. Maybe something a little more basic like a solid colour? You've already got patterns in the jacket and the skirt so it might work better with something that isn't adding a third pattern
The blouse should definitely stay! I feel like it has a lot of the colours you tend towards and that means you have so much to pair it with! Also not all things need to be everyday wear, it can be a little bit more of a going out/formal thing if that’s how it feels for you!
Love these videos. As a person with an ample bust, (also) I find the bomber silhouette is not the best option. I think you can make it work but it probably won't be in frequent rotation. I agree that it is not optimal with a flowy skirt. You definitely have a fun fashion flair that I appreciate.
i discovered your videos a few weeks ago, and i'm obsessed! i love your style, and you're one of the few youtubers / fashion creators i've discovered that have really colourful wardrobes, and the first one that really clicked for me! Also, you seem like a really nice and fun person. And your dog is so cute, AND her name is actually my nickname, so i find that really endearing :) I really enjoyed the format of this video. I liked most of the outfits, and I especially like the black and blue bomber jacket that you're struggling with. But if you're feeling unsure about it, maybe it's time to let it go. I've had items like that, that i've just loved in theory, but every attempt at styling them was just meh. So I've let them go, and it was the right decision.
BTW, blue and ORANGE are true complementary colors, not orange and yellow, so they tend to bring out the best in each other, as the pants and bomber jacket did. I think the yellow and blue were competing for attention and that’s another reason the skirt outfit didn’t gel but the bomber and pants did.

Now I have a few more colleagues, who are wearing bright colors and I am wondering why I limited myself to muted colors when I love colorful!

I think the problem with the bomberjacket and the summer skirts is not the colour it is the texture. The bomber looks like a heavy fabric and that needs a bit more balance on the bottom. A pair of jeans or a slower moving fabric ( corduroy, wool, other season). I also think the apple pants will look good. Maybe make them a bit more ' tough ' by rolling up the pants a bit and adding a biker boot?

I was thinking this in previous videos that asking her to style specific items would be really useful, and while you dont enjoy it as much, i think itll give you much more. Someone suggested using loved items to style in a new way, love this idea!
Loving all your Indyx wardrobe style content, Katey!! What about combining the plaid bomber jacket with the white pants??! Personally I’m a neutral girlie, so I would want to strip everything back with that jacket, but you could still go colorful and playful within that jacket/pant combo. Maybe for the top you could either go with something simple but colorful like one of your purple tees and then a colorful sneaker OR I think it might be the perfect finishing touch to the very last Rae outfit with the pink pattered top at 24:21.
You could always dye the white pants another color 😄 I would also love to see you style the first of Rays outfit with the bummer jacket with the limegreen pants instead of the limegreen skirt, as you said you prefer the jacket with pants 🙂
Loving your Indyx content from another user! For the 1st bomber outfit, do you typically dislike pattern mixing or prints on both top and bottom? I notice that the rest of the outfits in this video and some other videos tend to have one patterned piece to play off of rather than two going at the same time. I'd also suggest that sometimes you just need to give your eyes time and space to get used to how a new combination looks on you! If there's something appealing to you about two plaids in the flatlay, but it feels weird on, it might be that it just doesn't fit your self image just yet. I personally LOVED that outfit the most.
You’re right on all counts! I usually don’t lean towards pattern mixing (one of the many reasons I don’t identify as a maximalist!), although I’m not entirely opposed to it from time to time. It’s definitely not my comfy space, though! And I totally agree with needing time and space to kinda get used to seeing something new! For a lot of these outfits, I try to wear them for a few hours before filming, which helps. Sometimes it’s even later when I’m editing the footage that I get a real sense for something!
outfit 1 & 2 I prefer you're styling of, I like Rae's first options for both but without the jackets. Personally I didn't like any of the options for outfit 3. I think the bomber jacket would be much better if it was cropped. Outfit 4 I loooooved ALL the options. I think you have the perfect pieces to go with white pants.
I think what might be tricky is the way the pictures of the items looks like compared to what they look like in real life. The orange trousers (which are amazing by the way!) look way brighter/more orange in the picture than in real life.

I agree with dorcadperkins1647 who commented earlier. Where as you are aware that you don’t care for too dressy looks and instinctively dress them down, I think you in the process of discovering things about the bomber jacket that you have yet to process- for many a bomber is a relaxed vibe, but is it too dressy a vibe for you? do you find the pattern too structured a vibe for you, and feel better in softer, flowing prints? (I have read that curvy, softer body shapes look better in curvy, softer patterns and that more angular, horizontal shaped bodies look better in the “ sharper” shapes.) The bomber jacket, white pants and black patterned blouse share another element that you do not normally gravitate towards; they can create starker color contrasts like a black/white effect, whereas your complimentary combos are more matched in value. The dark bomber or black blouse could be worn with a darker pant to create a more column look over all and let the patterns pop out on their own merit, but wearing darker colors is where you may be hitting your wall. Some folks love the contrast of a black or vibrant color offset by by white or lighter pants for example. Very classic look. But may not be for you. In fact, black, navy or any darker concentrated color may not be for you because the resulting sharp contrasts may make you feel uncomfortably not you.
I love the way you styled the black shirt with the green pants. I actually like it better than how Ray originally styled it. That shirt is cute with all the colored pants. The acid green pants look good. in Ray's ensemble at first I didn't like them when you put it together because the color was too attention stealing. I would wear that bomber jacket over a sheath dress or a long denim skirt and make it the star. I like your white pant outfit. Ray's outfit is fine casual wear. Ray is a good stylist for you.

So in response to your questions... Regarding the geometric top with black background. It's 100% the black background you're not vibing with. I have the same problem and I finally got tired of trying to make outfits with black work for me and got rid of all the black except one black T-shirt and one long sleeve T-shirt. And guess what? I still don't wear even them. It's ok. We don't have to mesh with ALL colors when there's so many others that do. I think those of us who really like COLOR don't want anything to desaturate them The bomber jacket. I had a similar pattern cardigan (not jacket but heavy) that I fell in love with. The pattern was amazing, colors were nice but I didn't wear it. I finally figured out why. The "grid" pattern was too structured for me. I prefer a softer silhouette. That could be something to explore for you too. I notice that you like softer silhouettes generally too. It may just be too structured. In saying that I thought the outfit with the orange pants looked really good with it. I think once you wear it for a day you'll know
I agree that maybe the bomber jacket isn't the jacket for you. I like the style of the jacket but with the colors being dark and the pattern being too structured it is too many elements that don't feel right. I could totally see you wearing a floral or bright colored bomber jacket or even a cool quilted jacket in a similar shape and having it feel right in your closet. I really like the blouse and the green pants but at the beginning of the video you said you have similar items to these in colors you like more which is the reason you aren't reaching for them, so it is really if you'll decide to choose them over other items. I also love the white pants but I also thought you might be cool enough to pull off tye dye pants in the future if you aren't using them. Also curious if you'd consider doing seasonal pants capsules or challenge yourself to tuck away 3-5 pairs of your favorite pants for a month and see what other bottoms become the favorites?

I'm really torn on the bomber jacket because the colour looks so good on you but it is a piece that wants to lead, not compete. I would like to see the bomber jacket with the green pants as well and you lived the combo of the shirt with the green pants, however, you missed a bit of pattern -which the bomber has. Surprisingly, i think the item you worked needed to go was the striped long sleeved tee because it is not comfy - you couldn't keep it on for more than a minute. I favored both the outfit you styled with the green pants and the one Rae did with the colourful top. And, of course, a big shout out to Ollie forbidding some extra delight to our day.
I personally loved the first outfit, but i think my style is a little but more extra than yours 😅 i think the combo wt the purple coat was great, maybe not for every day, but for a nice dinner date or something.

Thanks for your concern for my sweet little Olly, friend. That is a self-soothing habit Olly has done for most of her life, starting when she wasn’t always treated as kindly as she should’ve been. She does it a lot, especially when she’s stressed/excited or when she’s tired or full. It’s become a pretty automatic thing for her so I just let her do it rather than stressing her more by trying to train her out of it. ❤️

I'm kinda confused by the title of this series. "...so you don't have to" implies that you don't think others should get an Indyx stylist. But you've been documenting a positive experience, so why would you suggest or imply that others shouldn't?!
I've been enjoying your foray into fashion content! (And since you wanted opinions, I think the jacket just may not be it - the fit looks great but I think the pattern may just not be speaking to you. But I like the June cutoff and who knows, you might surprise yourself!) I also wanted to come on here and recommend another youtuber whose fashion videos might be of interest to you: Hannah Louise Poston (fashion playlist here ua-cam.com/play/PLizpYXWzzy0WeOxW-SjGKWD9nwuUPOMw9.html). She does all kinds of videos, but her thoughts on fashion theory and why some things go with other things and how to pair clothes together feels like they might be of interest to you! It's refreshingly different content for the fashion/beauty space that can otherwise feel like we've already said everything under the sun. I'd recommend the 'how to match your wardrobe to your lifestyle' as a great first video to illustrate how she talks about clothes. Her personal style and yours couldn't be more opposite, but her frameworks are quite universal. She has a similar anti-consumption mentality to you, and I often find myself thinking that, while you're at two separate ends of some style spectrum, you'd find each others content fascinating! And it could be very interesting to do a video putting some of these ideas into practice. But anyway that's enough from me, just a friendly suggestion!

Dying white with a teabags work great on a 100% cotton shirt for me. I got a nice toasty offwhite.

I really liked both of the outfits Rae made with that black blouse when you stripped them back, and it definitely gave me some inspo!
I combine black with colour but only with dark hued colours. Black and brown. Or black and burgundy. So always a low contrast combination. Although I love black and white or high contrast pattern they never look good on me. But I am a low contrast soft autumn girl..

The jacket is incredible! You should keep it :),I think it works so well with the rust trousers because blue and orange are complementary colours and in that outfit the jacket is the star of the show. ❤

Loved this format and it was perfect to watch to get me in the mood for my wardrobe sort that I'm about to start right now! The hardest thing I find to do is get rid of items I love but never reach for because they just don't feel like me... and I think that's what the bomber jacket is. If you're struggling to like it even when you're styling with other items that you love and feel like you, it's probably not for your wardrobe. You deserve to love your wardrobe and you looked the least comfortable in the bomber jacket... so I'd vote for that to be replaced by something you do really love ❤

I really loved the bomber jacket with the yellow skirt in the outfit you put together yourself! I think it just needs a different top. Maybe something a little more basic like a solid colour? You've already got patterns in the jacket and the skirt so it might work better with something that isn't adding a third pattern
The blouse should definitely stay! I feel like it has a lot of the colours you tend towards and that means you have so much to pair it with! Also not all things need to be everyday wear, it can be a little bit more of a going out/formal thing if that’s how it feels for you!

Love these videos. As a person with an ample bust, (also) I find the bomber silhouette is not the best option. I think you can make it work but it probably won't be in frequent rotation. I agree that it is not optimal with a flowy skirt. You definitely have a fun fashion flair that I appreciate.

I really enjoyed the format of this video. I liked most of the outfits, and I especially like the black and blue bomber jacket that you're struggling with. But if you're feeling unsure about it, maybe it's time to let it go. I've had items like that, that i've just loved in theory, but every attempt at styling them was just meh. So I've let them go, and it was the right decision.

BTW, blue and ORANGE are true complementary colors, not orange and yellow, so they tend to bring out the best in each other, as the pants and bomber jacket did. I think the yellow and blue were competing for attention and that’s another reason the skirt outfit didn’t gel but the bomber and pants did.

I think the problem with the bomberjacket and the summer skirts is not the colour it is the texture. The bomber looks like a heavy fabric and that needs a bit more balance on the bottom. A pair of jeans or a slower moving fabric ( corduroy, wool, other season). I also think the apple pants will look good. Maybe make them a bit more ' tough ' by rolling up the pants a bit and adding a biker boot?

I was thinking this in previous videos that asking her to style specific items would be really useful, and while you dont enjoy it as much, i think itll give you much more. Someone suggested using loved items to style in a new way, love this idea!
Loving all your Indyx wardrobe style content, Katey!! What about combining the plaid bomber jacket with the white pants??! Personally I’m a neutral girlie, so I would want to strip everything back with that jacket, but you could still go colorful and playful within that jacket/pant combo. Maybe for the top you could either go with something simple but colorful like one of your purple tees and then a colorful sneaker OR I think it might be the perfect finishing touch to the very last Rae outfit with the pink pattered top at 24:21.

For the 1st bomber outfit, do you typically dislike pattern mixing or prints on both top and bottom? I notice that the rest of the outfits in this video and some other videos tend to have one patterned piece to play off of rather than two going at the same time.
I'd also suggest that sometimes you just need to give your eyes time and space to get used to how a new combination looks on you! If there's something appealing to you about two plaids in the flatlay, but it feels weird on, it might be that it just doesn't fit your self image just yet. I personally LOVED that outfit the most.
You’re right on all counts! I usually don’t lean towards pattern mixing (one of the many reasons I don’t identify as a maximalist!), although I’m not entirely opposed to it from time to time. It’s definitely not my comfy space, though!
And I totally agree with needing time and space to kinda get used to seeing something new! For a lot of these outfits, I try to wear them for a few hours before filming, which helps. Sometimes it’s even later when I’m editing the footage that I get a real sense for something!

outfit 1 & 2 I prefer you're styling of, I like Rae's first options for both but without the jackets. Personally I didn't like any of the options for outfit 3. I think the bomber jacket would be much better if it was cropped. Outfit 4 I loooooved ALL the options. I think you have the perfect pieces to go with white pants.

I think what might be tricky is the way the pictures of the items looks like compared to what they look like in real life. The orange trousers (which are amazing by the way!) look way brighter/more orange in the picture than in real life.

I agree with dorcadperkins1647 who commented earlier. Where as you are aware that you don’t care for too dressy looks and instinctively dress them down, I think you in the process of discovering things about the bomber jacket that you have yet to process- for many a bomber is a relaxed vibe, but is it too dressy a vibe for you? do you find the pattern too structured a vibe for you, and feel better in softer, flowing prints? (I have read that curvy, softer body shapes look better in curvy, softer patterns and that more angular, horizontal shaped bodies look better in the “ sharper” shapes.) The bomber jacket, white pants and black patterned blouse share another element that you do not normally gravitate towards; they can create starker color contrasts like a black/white effect, whereas your complimentary combos are more matched in value. The dark bomber or black blouse could be worn with a darker pant to create a more column look over all and let the patterns pop out on their own merit, but wearing darker colors is where you may be hitting your wall. Some folks love the contrast of a black or vibrant color offset by by white or lighter pants for example. Very classic look. But may not be for you. In fact, black, navy or any darker concentrated
color may not be for you because the resulting sharp contrasts may make you feel uncomfortably not you.

The acid green pants look good. in Ray's ensemble at first I didn't like them when you put it together because the color was too attention stealing.
I would wear that bomber jacket over a sheath dress or a long denim skirt and make it the star.

So in response to your questions...
Regarding the geometric top with black background. It's 100% the black background you're not vibing with. I have the same problem and I finally got tired of trying to make outfits with black work for me and got rid of all the black except one black T-shirt and one long sleeve T-shirt. And guess what? I still don't wear even them. It's ok. We don't have to mesh with ALL colors when there's so many others that do.
I think those of us who really like COLOR don't want anything to desaturate them
The bomber jacket. I had a similar pattern cardigan (not jacket but heavy) that I fell in love with. The pattern was amazing, colors were nice but I didn't wear it. I finally figured out why. The "grid" pattern was too structured for me. I prefer a softer silhouette. That could be something to explore for you too. I notice that you like softer silhouettes generally too. It may just be too structured.
In saying that I thought the outfit with the orange pants looked really good with it. I think once you wear it for a day you'll know

I agree that maybe the bomber jacket isn't the jacket for you. I like the style of the jacket but with the colors being dark and the pattern being too structured it is too many elements that don't feel right. I could totally see you wearing a floral or bright colored bomber jacket or even a cool quilted jacket in a similar shape and having it feel right in your closet. I really like the blouse and the green pants but at the beginning of the video you said you have similar items to these in colors you like more which is the reason you aren't reaching for them, so it is really if you'll decide to choose them over other items. I also love the white pants but I also thought you might be cool enough to pull off tye dye pants in the future if you aren't using them.
Also curious if you'd consider doing seasonal pants capsules or challenge yourself to tuck away 3-5 pairs of your favorite pants for a month and see what other bottoms become the favorites?

I'm really torn on the bomber jacket because the colour looks so good on you but it is a piece that wants to lead, not compete. I would like to see the bomber jacket with the green pants as well and you lived the combo of the shirt with the green pants, however, you missed a bit of pattern -which the bomber has. Surprisingly, i think the item you worked needed to go was the striped long sleeved tee because it is not comfy - you couldn't keep it on for more than a minute. I favored both the outfit you styled with the green pants and the one Rae did with the colourful top. And, of course, a big shout out to Ollie forbidding some extra delight to our day.
I personally loved the first outfit, but i think my style is a little but more extra than yours 😅 i think the combo wt the purple coat was great, maybe not for every day, but for a nice dinner date or something.

Thanks for your concern for my sweet little Olly, friend. That is a self-soothing habit Olly has done for most of her life, starting when she wasn’t always treated as kindly as she should’ve been. She does it a lot, especially when she’s stressed/excited or when she’s tired or full. It’s become a pretty automatic thing for her so I just let her do it rather than stressing her more by trying to train her out of it. ❤️

I've been enjoying your foray into fashion content! (And since you wanted opinions, I think the jacket just may not be it - the fit looks great but I think the pattern may just not be speaking to you. But I like the June cutoff and who knows, you might surprise yourself!)
I also wanted to come on here and recommend another youtuber whose fashion videos might be of interest to you: Hannah Louise Poston (fashion playlist here ua-cam.com/play/PLizpYXWzzy0WeOxW-SjGKWD9nwuUPOMw9.html). She does all kinds of videos, but her thoughts on fashion theory and why some things go with other things and how to pair clothes together feels like they might be of interest to you! It's refreshingly different content for the fashion/beauty space that can otherwise feel like we've already said everything under the sun. I'd recommend the 'how to match your wardrobe to your lifestyle' as a great first video to illustrate how she talks about clothes. Her personal style and yours couldn't be more opposite, but her frameworks are quite universal. She has a similar anti-consumption mentality to you, and I often find myself thinking that, while you're at two separate ends of some style spectrum, you'd find each others content fascinating! And it could be very interesting to do a video putting some of these ideas into practice. But anyway that's enough from me, just a friendly suggestion!
