Good question, Preethi. Yes, you can. But for this proportion of suji, you'll need 1 large egg or 2 small ones. Also, skip the milk and reduce the mango puree to 3/4 cup. (Keep the extra 1/4 cup puree aside for now.) Add in the well-beaten egg/eggs just before mixing in the baking powder and baking soda. Then for adjusting the batter consistency, use the mango puree you had kept aside to just bring the batter to a thick, dropping consistency. (If the batter is still too thick add a tablespoon or so of milk.) For semolina cakes, you need a thicker batter. Everything else remains the same. Hope this is of help.
Yes, Cynthia. Freshly extracted mango pulp is much thicker. But if you increase the volume of canned mango pulp, that would thin your cake batter even more. But a couple of other options for you. One way out would be to boil and thicken the canned pulp a little and then cool and use 1 cup of it. Or increase the quantity of canned mango pulp by about 3 tbsp. If you go with this option, then perhaps you might not have to add any milk at the end to adjust the batter consistency. See what works for you, OK?
Rita here Veena. The wheat flour cake was superb and enjoyed by all who came over. On the 1st is my nephews birthday. I have mangoes at home so thought of making a mango cake saw your recipe using sojee and pulp. Will this cake minus flour set like other cakes where we can cut slices. I have not made cakes without flour bevit wheat or maida. This one is looking good and you cut an excellent slice too. Do you have more recipes using mango pulp besides the sojee one I am watching. Tku veena your explanation is so good
Glad to hear that update on my wheat flour cake, Rita. Yes, this suji-mango cake can be sliced very easily. Also, you could try out my low calorie mango-yogurt ice cream. Delicious and super-easy to make. And in a few hours I'll be posting a tasty mango pudding video!
If I can get slices I will make this and will look up the other cake too. Everyone will agree with me that you are very helpful if and when puzzled about something. Tku once again
Jyotsna, I used the commercially available slivered almonds. But when I don't have these handy, I toast the almonds lightly and then slice them with a sharp knife.
The pulp has to measure 1 cup, Rita. Two medium-size mangoes will give you 1 cup. If the mangoes are larger in size, you might need just 1 and 1/2 mangoes.
Larry, this is a mango cake. There has to be mango pulp in it! The proportions of the other ingredients are in accordance with having pulp in the batter. There's no way you can adapt this recipe, except maybe by adding the pulp of some other fruit instead of the mango pulp.

Rita here Veena, its been a while since I have done any cooking since am down with a frozen shoulder, do you know of any remedy that will heal the same. Drs. are too expensive and most of the time they just experiment, have already spent a lot of money with no cure. Today I was thinking of making a mango cake for my sister whose birthday is on sunday. Wanted to ask if I could use butter and if yes what should the quantity of butter be for this cake and do all the other ingredients remain the same, any thing I need to know to make a delicious cake for her I will be more than grateful Veena, thanks in anticipation.
Rita, you could use 1/3 cup (that is, 5 and 1/2 tbsp) of melted butter instead. All the other ingredients will stay the same. Sorry to hear about your frozen shoulder. For relief from the pain (not cure) , you could try massaging your shoulder with some ayurvedic oil like mahanarayan tel. It generates heat. And that relieves the pain for sometime. You could also try any other heat-generating ointment.
Veena, does mango pudding with the usage of custard powder or cornflour set well like agar agar powder, this really sets well and you can cut slices. The picture shows nicely cut slices using custard powder or cornflour, will I get such even slices veena without the usage of agar agar
@@PataCake Veena parachute oil does not have a smell, perhaps the organic etc. has a smell , but I hvae no choice veena I bought it and hence will use it.

To slice almonds thinly ,do we use raw/roasted/soaked in water almonds? And do we use a knife or a slicer?
