  • The master Pena Khongba (musician), Oja Kangembam Mangi plays the ritual morning invocations (that in the ancient Meitelon language were called Yakeiba and more) popularly are known as Yakairol. One of the great values of these recording are their capture in the proper ritual setting at the festival of Lai Haraoba. The morning invocations are played to wake the Lai Deities from sleep. Oja Mangi was 91 years old during there recordings made in 2014 at Heibonpokpi Lai Koubru Haraoba. The Hibongpokpi Haraoba could be considered Oja Mangi's home Haraoba venue as he was born less than 1/2 kilometer away in the hamlet of Lambal. The recordings consist of eight invocations and ritual songs played over the 5 day Lai Haraoba festival and comprise over two hours of recorded musics.
