This, to me, is a perfect representation of so much wrong with our current culture: deceptive marketing, complex kayfabe, immoral and belligerent capitalism, anti-intellectualism/misinformation, abusing one's platform, etc etc. Good job Dr. Phil. This is cringe, sure, but it's also way beyond that - it's a apt representation of modern celebrity culture with its unabashedly, self-interested schemes at the expense of their followers. It's not enough to make money doing one thing. Now they have to scam their fans in multiple ways. At least this strategy is incredibly transparent, but that's due to poor implementation not motive. The intent here was to make this look authentic.

This would be an interesting concept for a medical system in a dystopian novel. The medical field has become so predatory and money hungry that to view results of a procedure, you must watch an advertisement after having already paid for your procedure. They would use the excuse; "Well, you paid for the PROCEDURE, not the RESULTS."
