  • ECHO PAS Pro Paddle VS Pro Sweep For Clearing Snow | Which One Is Better?
    In this video I demonstrate the ECHO PAS Pro Paddle attachment and the Pro Sweep attachment to see if they can be used for clearing snow, and to see which one is better suited for the job. In the video I use both the Pro Paddle and Pro Sweep attached to my ECHO PAS SRM-2620 power head. Watch as I try both attachments in this scenario clearing snow for the very first time, and work my way through the best technique for effectively clearing snow.

    Let me know in the comments below if you use a paddle broom or bristle broom type attachments on your PAS or Kombi type system for clearing snow in your home or business.

    Those attachments work great and I have the Echo 2620 and the pro paddle to clear stump grinding chips. You have to run them at lower rpm to prevent debris rollover. Rollover also depends on how deep the debris is. You can hold the machine upside down and pull it which is much easier in certain situations.

    Was curious as to which was better. Planning on a Kombi system this year (Edger, pole saw and hedge trimmer) and I think this will work really well on porches, sidewalks and places where the snowblower can’t reach, and not be hard on this old man’s back like a shovel is.
    Thank You for the great video!!

      Yeah it seemed to work pretty good. It’s not a snowblower by any means but for small narrow or tight spots or things like decks etc it would work good. It’s actually not as easy as it would seem though. It is quite a workout. Thanks for watching.

    Thanks for this great comparison video of sweep vs paddle. I have both on the cordless EGO multi-head tool and found that at the end of day, the EGO cordless single stage snow blower is still way faster and effortless than both tools. The brush is excellent to clean up down to the pavement at the end of the driveway after clearing the snow plow pile with either single or 2 stage snow blower.

      Yeah i had a similar experience. I found it was just easier to use a shovel. I can actually clear the driveway faster and with less effort, noise and pollution just using a shovel. Thanks for watching.

      Yup. I'd say these would be for light dustings. We run Ego year around for snow removal and lawn care in our area and I'd say the sweepers would be for if you really forgot your shovel and you happen to have the multihead and a battery in your vehicle.

    I have the EGO bristle, but these are all essentially the same. The one and only purpose I find it useful for is to scrape down to bare surface when there is little material on top. This works especially good when you have uneven surfaces like cracks or cobble type surface. For anything not deep and powdery, use a good CFM leaf blower, they are amazing. Anything more, use a plow, push shovel, or snowblower. Are these worth it? Absolutely, simply to get a nice clean surface without using any/or excessive quantities of salt. I like to use my ATV plow on my uneven driveway and sidewalk and then finish pass with bristle brush. They are very heavy though, be advised. Thanks for the video, it helps people make a decision on where they work and where they don't.

    1st I wanted to say thank you for your Podcast I listened to it on spotify When I am working I believe I am at about a 106 episode Though I believe You have the paddle installed correctly if you do rotate it a 180゚ The pin will slide back in I use this technique for dragging gravel away from the house if I'm cleaning out a bed But it would be throwing the majority of the snow at you if you had it installed that way Only telling you this because sometimes it is handy to be able to pull material towards you Thank you for all the good information through Podcast

    Great vid! Do you think the paddle could get under your GMC? Does the handle articulate flat to reach near the differential and behind the tires for, lets say, clearing a path some distance behind or in front of the tires. I was in a similar situation and was wondering what product I could use to get out of it.

      That would be fun and I do have a gas 2 stage snow blower and a snow shovel and the new ECHO PB9010. I have the kombi power sweep it’s better because it has a guard on it and it’s better to get rocks out of a lawn every year

    • @LawnCareBusinessSuccess
      @LawnCareBusinessSuccess  2 роки тому

      Yes I agree that having the guard is better. You can see in this video how some of the snow comes back at me because of the lack of a guard, and if you look through the comments you’ll see people saying I have it on wrong because of the snow coming back when actually it’s because of the lack of a guard as the attachment can only go on one way. Thanks for watching.

    Niether worked all that well. I think if you ran in rows across the driveway, they might work better, but snow much deeper than an inch or two would be too much for these attachments.

    • @LawnCareBusinessSuccess
      @LawnCareBusinessSuccess  Рік тому +1

      Yes I agree. Was not very effective and was a lot more work than it’s worth. It’s actually just easier to shovel then use those attachments. This video is a few years old now and In contrast I just released a video this past week where I was clearing snow on the same driveway using a Greenworks 80 volt battery powered snow blower and that thing is amazing and so easy to use compared to these. • @naamangeist7843
    @naamangeist7843 Рік тому

    I have the bristle attachment but mine is the same diameter all the way across the broom, rather than the radius cuts on yours. I have similar results with moving snow as yours has, that's why I only use it for cleanup after using my Ego snow blower to clear the bulk of it. Neither of these attachments are good for bulk snow removal, as you have demonstrated. You would have made more efficient time with a shovel than you did using two different attachments, not to mention the $200-300 you paid for each of them.

    • @LawnCareBusinessSuccess
      @LawnCareBusinessSuccess  Рік тому +1

      I agree. Absolutely useless for moving large amounts of snow. Faster and easier to use a shovel or I now use a greenworks pro battery snow blower. Probably similar to your ego. Move mountains of snow effortlessly. Thanks for watching.

    BRUSH IS BAD FOR SNOW. I didn't try the paddle but just bought the brush to try out with my two battery LXT power head. Was using it for Chicago snow storms. 3 storms and one light snow occurrence did not make it worth the effort. Its too heavy and takes you three times as long versus a push shovel with a long blade. I'm sure the Brush is great for cleaning pebbles off of driveways though. As I cleaned snow in my back alley which sits adjacent to a train station property, I accidentally was cleaning the pebbles off of my alley and back on the the Train stations property. After all the snow melted I noticed the areas I tried cleaning snow from left the drive area spic and span of rocks and gravel!

    To each his own, I guess ?
    But I wasn't impressed.
    Looks like maybe they would be used on concrete, or asphalt drives ?
    Not sure how they would react to a snow covered gravel drive ?
    I suppose after using them, you may learn how to finesse them ?
    To me, it looks like gearing them differently would increase the speed and cast the snow further out in front of you ?
    But with the Weedwacker engine and the attachment, it just looks heavy .
    For me shoveling is laborious enough without having to wrestle with that.
    But just me !
    As I have gotten older, a plastic snow shovel liberally sprayed with WD - 40 work's wonder's !
    With the same amount of Snow you have in your video, I most time's never have to lift the shovel off the ground, but instead tip it to one side , as with the aid of the lubricant, it easily spills off !
    Thank's for posting !
    Not looking forward to Winter !

      The attachments can only go in one way for the pin on the side to lock in place. On the shaft of the attachment there is a hole on one side that the pin goes into. So if it were backwards the pin won’t go in. There is also a sticker on the attachment shaft showing how far it sticks into the machine. Also if it were on backwards the snow would be thrown at my legs. Thanks for watching.
