The supreme comic irony of this skit is that the porter -- balancing a precariously ever shifting, full silver coffee service tray atop his head as (gingerly yet suavely expertly) he stroll~dances in perfect rhythm to Hoagy's tune to set it down, a perfect landing -- is the apex opposite of a "lazybones."
My dad always used to sing us this song as a lulluaby in the 50s. It worked and we dropped easily into slumber. Mind you, he was completely tone deaf and we got to learn the song just as he sang it - completely off. On the other jand we all grew up with great singing voices.
My dad, born in '31, used to always sing this song to our dachshund when he was habitually sleeping in the sunbeam on our stairs.
My dad, born in '27, would sing this getting us up for school
My Dad used to sing this to me when i was little.

Dorothy's shimmy was so cute!! ❤
Enjoyable song performed by the man who was the physical model for how author Ian Fleming envisioned James Bond should look. No joke.
Wow, I had no idea..
Christopher Lee was his actual model for Bond.
The Great Hoagy Thank You
This takes me back. This is when we had the real music.
As a reformed Lazy Bones i can vouch that its not all that bad....

Oh, puhleeze. Stop already with the incessant accusations of racism.
@@Squee_Dow is it tho? I don't even care; its the past. Also don't wanna do the equivalent to playing fuck the police at a police station
@@DrTomb No is not; it was more of a critique towards the recording industry in those days. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lazybones_(song)
No it is not. Done recently by Nellie McKay.
I don’t care if it is. Get over it all for chrissakes.
Hoagy's "Southern black" accent is embarrassing in 2020.
Why?
I hear whites talk like this
