- The Rolex Submariner Reference 5512 is the embodiment of the classic dive watch. The 5512 is simple yet sophisticated and rugged whilst becoming increasingly more uncommon and collectible. It is said that for every five 5513s made in the 1970s one 5512 was made. Ref 5512 was first introduced in the 1958 and ceased production in late 1978. The 5513 was introduced a few years later in 1962 and was in production till 1990.
This exceptional example is a juggernaut of rare dial features. The glossy, two color gilt, chapter ring dial also features an exclamation point below the 6 o'clock marker which is era correct for 1962. Exclamation point dials were a precursor to the notable underline dial, signifying the transition from radium to tritium lume. Along with the pointed crown guard case and lightly faded fat font insert, this 5512 is a stunning and collectible example that would become a cornerstone in any great collection.

This is the wet dream of a 5512, chapter ring, condition, sharp case, glossy gilt dial, rivet bracelet with the old clasp, everything is just right!
Fantastic video, I learnt a lot ! Thank you very much for all this information ! Cheers
Great review, stunning watch.
Love all of your content
Awe thanks glad you enjoy! Hope you find it useful!
Love it!!!!!
“Crown protection guard device” lolololol. Beautiful watch. Great video.
Very sweet. Not in my budget, but a real work of art to treasure. Definite James Bond vibe, although my Bond fav was his super early Gluen Precision on a nato. Part of the Sean's own collection I believe.
Right on!
I have a `66 GMT with Gilt Hands. Been in fam since new. Dial was replaced with Mark V `77. But I am pretty sure the hands are oxidized like Gilt Hands. Would love to have it verified.

Butterfly rotor on the 1560 is it? Case back 5512 stamped date? Twin lock crown? Fat font kissing 4 insert? Original Rolex T19 dome plexi?
How do u handle a watch like this and not fall in love with your stock??? This is definitely my fav vintage Submariner
It is super super hard sometimes... sometimes they end up staying in the personal collection and sometimes it's about the hunt and the chase and making someone else happy
Like radium, tritium is also radioactive with a 12.32-year half-life.
Beauty
Grail!
Picked up one used in 1973 for $150. and have worn it ever since. It stands alone as the the most iconic Rolex watch. After all, could the Kings of cool, James Bond and Steve McQueen both be wrong?
Congrats and that is so cool!! nah they knew what was up before it ever was considered an icon!
Very good intel; love the 5512, Comex, Mil-Sub
