Of course I had heard Wonderwall growing up, but Supersonic was the first song that really introduced me to Oasis and that’s the reason why it’s my favorite. What I mean is that for a while I just assumed that Wonderwall was just one of those music anthems and didn’t think much about who actually made it. But when I heard supersonic which I randomly heard on iTunes, that made me look into what Oasis actually had.
Lies by Noel as his songwriting book went up for auction and had all the lyrics for Supersonic in it showing he was working on that song for many months prior. He never just came up with it
I’m with Bonehead, Columbia is easily my favourite Oasis track; it’s perhaps the first genuinely progressive rock track in a decade, and probably the last one ever… Liam’s is Live Forever BTW 😊
Imagine your in a music lesson in school and your homework for the next day is to try and write lyrics and a guitar chord structure for a complete song and you come back with an acoustic version of super sonic, would you become the coolest kid in the whole building 😁 😁
Colombia is my favourite too. I think if Bone Head had more influence on the band they'd have more of a heavy 'shoe gaze' sound like you hear on Colombia, Cloudburst and Bring It On Down and spend more time ripping off My Bloody Valentine than the Beatles. Probably be less successful but it'd be more to my taste.
I totally forgot I had the Box sets of Oasis Singles, in the Cigarette packets that my mother bought me for Christmas one year when they were released. Love them
Slide Away, Live Forever are my top two. I have to say though, I've never known a band before or since Oasis that have had such brilliant B-sides. It's actually ridiculous how good so many of them are, easily could have been another album, possibly two. But instead we got the thrill of buying an Oasis single and getting four belting tracks. Not a bad trade off at all!
He didn't. Tells so many porky pies. Lol. The lyrics etc and workings were in a diary sized notebook that went up for auction and proved he was working on that song for ages prior. Another Noel porky.
There's one thing oasis are unparalleled in The quality of their b sides. The master plan album should've been their 3rd album and they would've been truly immortal Enough time has gone now where we can all admit Be Here Now was a huge anti climax Don't go away and Stand By Me were the only decent song on there. Stay Young was the best thing from those sessions and was once again reduced to a b side
I have 2, Bring it on down/Columbia,... been an oasis fan since they came out, ive had favourites over the years, but i allways came back to those 2 songs.
Supersonic is the soundtrack of my teenagehood, it was the song that introduced me to Oasis, I remember watching the video clip on MTV Brasil back in 2008, those drums and guitar riffs instantly pierced through my soul, everytime I listen to Supersonic those nostalgic memories comes back and then it gives me goosebumps, everytime! I didn't know Supersonic was Noel's favourite song too, knowing this just made my day today 🎉
It has to be Live Forever for me. I was about to turn 17 when it came out, it got me buying all the Beatles albums and from that point i started buying Dylan, Stones, Hendrix and Kinks albums too. Oasis were very important to me at that time and for the next couple of years, along with Pulp, Blur, Radiohead, Supergrass, Teenage Fanclub, Black Grape. And to a lesser degree, Ocean Colour Scene, Suede, Elastica, Sleeper (huge crush on Louise, C'mon i cant be the only one). Mid-90's were exciting musically in Britain.
Columbia wasnt written by Noell. It was a jointly written song bybThe Real People Bonehead and Liam. Noel put in a few words but none of the music for that song was his.
The last truly truly top class band to ever come of earth. I don't think we'll see another Oasis or Guns N' Roses or REM ever again. I think it's done sadly. They'll always be the odd decent band that'll pop up from time to time but never on the scale of what these lot did.
An increasingly data-driven music industry means there is a growing focus on replicating hits and far less space for nurturing originality. Technology may have given us multiple new ways to listen to music , but increasingly we are hearing the same old shit!
I agree with Noel. Supersonic is my favorite song is such a fun song to play too. That song is the reason why i picked up a real guitar 3 years ago.
Same here, I’m still not the best guitar player but that song I can play backwards and forwards, I’ve almost mastered it.
Were u playing a fake guitar before that?

'Hey Now' for me, although I do love 'Bring it on down' and 'Hello'
absolute ✨, these songs are so close to me that i can't help shut my eyes and nod every second it plays
Hey now is underrated
Hey now forever
Yes! Columbias always been one of my favourites too.
So many class songs, hard to pick just a few!
stay young and I hope, I think, I know will always be my favourites
Live forever 4 me
It's truly an amazing song
I'll NEVER forget the first time I heard Supersonic. Similar to Noel's story, actually. 💙

Amazing to come up with that song off the cuff
He didnt

It must be fucking hard to decide what songs to pick for their setlist
Columbia isn't a noel song? I agree with bonehead. Columbia for me
most Noel songs are not Noel song lol mans stole many many tunes from other people, he made them better tho

Jonny Vaughan is bald now? What a world.
Bonehead saying columbia 😂 read the oasis book ‘the truth’ and you will see why 😂
First thing I thought of as well, lol.
I wonder if Noel ever gets fed up being asked endlessly about Oasis

Live forever. Supersonic. Slide away. Talk tonight. In no particular order. By far and away the biggest musical influence in my lifetime!
"it's always gonna be Supersonic" but he's also answered some might say, the masterplan and live forever I think 😂

Supersonic/live forever. Two of the best tracks imo
Cast no shadow.

Genius. It will always be RnR star for me!
I concur, supersonic has all the bottled up energy and the rawness of a new band!

Supersonic easy.
tony mccarroll doesnt get the credit from noel. he started the drum-beat that noel jammed off to create SUPERSONIC
I wonder if Bonehead picked Columbia because Noel didn’t write it
Tony mccarroll tells a probably more truthful version of the events of that night
I have to agree with boneheads choice, Columbia is just brilliant!
Colombia, cast no shadow, the girl in the dirty shirt.gas panic
Bonehead chose Columbia because everyone knows who allegedly wrote it.
I have 2, Bring it on down/Columbia,... been an oasis fan since they came out, ive had favourites over the years, but i allways came back to those 2 songs.
Same 2 bro!
D' You Know What I Mean? My first Oasis very badass I was hooked

Johnny Vaughan show is excellent. So funny
Jeez amazed johnny allowed him to get a word in edge ways
Don't Look Back In Anger. Job done.

What went wrong after definitely maybe.

Oasis - Whatever (They're Greatest song ever, end of story)
My personal fav
I know it’s maybe overplayed but to me Don’t Look Back in Anger is perhaps the most perfect song ever written
While I do love Supersonic, particularly live, I kind of agree with Alan McGee. Bring It On Down would have been an ideal debut for Oasis.
