The Spirit of Progress stopped running in 1986, so Id say was filmed sometime prior to that. It was an enjoyable video just the same, seeing the 930 on The Overland brought back memories, having worked it to & from Tailem Bend, when I was a Fireman at Mile End. The string of VHGY hoppers at GEB sidings at Sunshine caught my eye, NO GRAFITTI!
@@TheLoneRailrider Was I asleep when I wrote that? 1987 would be close to the mark. There are N classes all over the V/line passes, yet before they were around 85>, a list of older classes & A class rebuilds hauled the trains ( I don't really regard the Ps as a rebuild as unlike the B to A class, Ps are basically another T, are slow & sound like a T) The P class were the final bit of flavour of the VR on V/Line. Sounds like a T & is slow on the grades out of Melbourne. WCR was even more like the old VR, but they have been gone over 15 years now. If you go back 5 years before this video, things looked very different. Only the VR colours & no interstate locos. Funny thing is, go back another 5 ,10 or 15 years, much the same (a lot more Tait trains would be the big difference)
I loved it, a peice of history. A couple of my favourite locos shown there.

I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
Make sure to keep an eye out this weekend, because another one of John’s videos will be published this weekend!
Perfect 👌
Cheers mate. I'll be uploading another one tomorrow
wow thanks!
Shelton D'Cruz no worries
This is after 1984. N class locos not around yet. It would be A,B,S, X & maybe a T or H class on the trains.
Could be 1987
