    My step-mother when she was young was a moonshine runner. Her car was so souped up the sheriff couldn't catch her. I really enjoyed this story.

    Moonshine was made all over the mountains but you didn’t have to be in the mountains to get moonshine they made a lot of it in New York underground and a lot of it was sold with bootleggers in New York And Chicago

      @realappalachia  3 роки тому

    I think a lot of us had moonshiners or runners somewhere in the family tree. Mine was Southern Ohio, Kitts Hill/Greasy Ridge area. Part of the Pemberton Clan. Neat story how he was running and the sheriff was after him. Pulled over and cut the top off the Model T and they caught up with him but they were looking for a Model T with a top. He got away. Lol

    I dated a guy from southern Wisconsin who's hometown was Carmel, Ohio. (South central ohio) way back in the hills, the biggest town near by was Hillsboro and theres a good size population of mulungeon Indians there as this fella I dated is one, also he has relation that is in and around Salyersville and Royalton Ky. (East ky)

    Big Haley could have no better sages to tell her tale than the two of you. Coming from an old guy, you two have something very special which makes you both a pleasure to watch. I'll go out on a limb here and say that a year or two from now your channel will be so big that one of you will look at the other and say, "remember that old guy from Bristol that used to encourage us so, does he ever comment anymore?" And the other will reply, "I don't know, there are so many comments these days I just don't have the time to look, do you?" And then you''ll both remember me saying this, smile at one another and wink... Oh yeah, since Miss Melody has that medical background, I say, "Hey doc, it hurts when I do this..." ;-)

    Another great video! Shane, have you ever heard the story of Mac Day, the famous revenuer, who was killed in the line of duty near Welch, WV? Another great but sad story. By the way, I am descended from the Melungeons. My great, great grandmother was a full blooded Cherokee Indian.

    Great vid and story! Oregon has their own pioneer moonshiner William Johnson if you're interested. His primary customers? The Native Americans. Known as the first ounce or two that comes out of the still with each batch, which contains all the toxic hangover-inducing wood alcohols and other nasty chemicals. Goodbye liver.....
