- Hey Everyone, I am posting this video today since tomorrow I have a lot to get ready for my trip to Atlanta to attend IWF 2012. This is a quick, simple and fun project for you to try. It's a tissue box. This box was made from Spalted Pecan and Mahogany.
Also, Congratulations to Jeramie Sivley for winning the Weber Smokey Joe Grill and our Labor Day Giveaway. Jeramie, you can reach me at Laney@asimpledesignofocala.com to send me your shipping information.

Best video for a simple tissue box on UA-cam.
Great video laney really liking the short videos
I am glad to hear that... Thank you for watching and commenting
Nice box. I just need to move to the south so I can have access to that wonderful pecan and hickory.
Thank you, glad you liked it. Its a simple jig to make and it is great for boxes and frames.
Good project Laney! I really like that clamp-up jig. That's cool!
That's awesome! and I'm very happy to hear that!
Its a great jig for gluing and clamping up frames and boxes, the cams create a lot of clamping pressure. Enough to effectively glue up frames and boxes.
Thank you Ticky, I try to make sure on a regular basis, that things are tuned up. sometimes its hard to get to, you just have to make the time. once you have everything working top notch, things go together quite well. its then you realize, it was worth the time.
Yes you position the cams (cirlces) where ever you need for the particular project you are doing. Depending on the size (frames or Boxes) you are making determines the size of the base of the jig. I have 1 small which you saw in the video, 1 medium and one large . I have 2 band clamps. sometimes I will use the cam clamp jig and the band clamps together.. either one works well
Yeah I have never ordered mail order wood either. The native species up here is red alder, Douglas Fir, Western Hemlock, and Western Red Cedar. Yeah I could probably do something with those. Maple grows around here pretty well too.
Truckrun, I applied 6 coats of Deft rattle can lacquer rubbed out with 1 coat of paste wax. 2 coats of lacquer would have been enough if I were using my turbine sprayer, but due to the rain and bad weather I had to spray in my shop. So the can spray lacquer had to be used.
Cool , be sure to share the photos if you do make them.
Thanks Steve, I'm glad you like it..Depending on the size (frames or Boxes) you are making determines the size of the base of the jig. I have 1 small which you saw in the video, 1 medium and one large for larger picture frames, boxes, etc.
Thank you Rich I greatly appreciate the comment!
i like the that little jig you used to hold the box together for measuring of the top very simple and effective. good video thanks!
Your welcome Laney..I also really like what you have done to your website..look forward to seeing more of your video projects..
Rich.
Thank you!!
Great project Laney. I love to see everything fit together so well for you. I think I need to spend some time on tuning up my equipment since nothing fits that well for me.
Thanks! Enjoy IWF.
Thank you! and you are welcome
Great little project Laney..i`m def. going to make one of these...and what a great idea that jig is too..all in all a great video..
Rich.

I appreciate it
great work! thanks alot for posting this
Nicely done Laney..keep it up ...:)
Ahhh Dwayne, I am sure there is some beautiful wood in your area that you could use... you can order pecan online. but I have never been a fan of mail order wood. but then again, I never tried it.
Your welcome.
I enjoyed your video. Thank you!
Love the jig.
really awesome ,
Beautiful
Very Nice!
Nice job 👍
Near the end of the video....what router bit did you use to round out the edges ?
Like your CD player behind you
Great project. I don't think you need the bottom either. Where did you get that push stick??
Thanks Great JIg.
I really like the length of this video. It makes it much easier to watch. My only question is what kind of finish did you put on the box?
almost forgot. that clamp/jig you used. was it better than a band clamp? it looked great. assume you just move the cam screw for different size projects?
This Weeks Project Video 1 Day Early "Make a Simple Tissue box"
Yes they are...inexpensive and a lifetime warranty ...lol...can't beat it.
My shop is full of them...I buy 4-5 each time I'm at HF they are always running a sale and those are the 24" bar clamps $10 each... and $10 for a lifetime is a deal to me...and if something were to happen to one HF replaces it with a new one with no hassles
Hi Laney, did you make the end removable panel taller by the thickness of the kerf of your saw blade, so that when you removed it to glue to the base it then became the same height as the rest of the sides.
I was thinking the same thing. Good question.
Great video Laney! I've added the tissue box AND your cam clamping jig to my To Do list.
Posso chiedere dove si acquistano vi morsetti blu?
we could just buy tissue
you dont need that
Save yourself work and don't add the bottom. You don't need it.
not simple
