Hi Steve great video as always sorry if I missed it but what voltage did you use for your overclock? Also I'm seeing the nice performance boost from the 3300X being on the same CCX but obviously all tests have been done on a 2080ti to show that difference. As most people would be using this with a max GPU of say a 2060, RX 5700 would that mean the fps gap for the most close up due to being GPU bound?

I have a question conform to this benchmark ryzen 3600 stock vs ryzen 3600 overclocked at 4,3 GHz gain only 1 FPS in each game? So i don't get get it i see a lot of people overclocking them 3600 to 4,2 Ghz ? why they overclock if u gain only 1 FPS?

@Hyper Typer I think all of them are relevant. LTT, Jayz and GN all can be informative, but they serve different purpose. GN is only raw data and specs in-depth, don't come here for any kind of entertainment. Jayz is more focus on reviews and builds. LTT has the widest spectrum from news, to review, to builds to crazy projects. There's nothing wrong with wanting entertainment as well as knowledge (which is why all these channels have their fans and many are fans of all of them) and trying to up yourself over others ("the masses") is a bit ridiculous...

Long long ago I got a 4670k for >$200 after a lot of research. “I5 is enough, 4 cores is great” was the mantra. I figured a few years of decent performance, especially with that ludicrous 4.5 GHz overclock, before a new budget chip at stock speed made my chip look like trash. Slowly the stutters slipped into bigger games, even as I upgraded my GPU...
In hindsight it’s clear that chip was an awesome choice, but Intel *never* improved enough to make me upgrade.

The extra threads for maybe 80€ were really worth it because it bought a lot of time. Still running it and performance is great. Otherwise I'd have likely upgraded already years ago.

You shouldn't run 3100 at voltages that GN did. Like, it's not realistic, go to r/overclocking, you will find easily that this voltage is not 24/7 stable OC for Zen 2. OC results from Zen 2 GN coverage are to be taken with a grain of sand for that reason.

    • @dashkataey1740
      @dashkataey1740 4 роки тому +1

That's the thing about it, 20% doesn't mean much when you're talking about $100 to $120 so the upgrade makes sense. And an extra $20 probably isn't going to break the bank. It's different when you're telling someone to spend 20% more for minimal gains when it's going from $300 to $360 or $400 to $480. Same percentages but a bigger pill to swallow.

As an owner of an dual cpu system ( 2x(4core 8thread) ) I can tell you that many new games benefit when disabling numa nodes (making the CPUs register as one) in both frametimes aswell as framerate. The only game that benefits from separating the CPUs into numa nodes is fallout 76, this being a very latency sensitive game and becomes playable without microstutters.

Your charts have so many CPU's on them, I wonder if it would make sense to trim them down. Perhaps eliminate the 0.1% lows too (but not the frametime plots). There is just SO much going on. I realize this thoroughness might be a positive point of differentiation for you among some viewers, but I'm betting you could streamline a bit and still have far more going in that regard. Just some thoughts. It might ease your workload a bit too, and let you concentrate on enhancing other aspects. I hope you take this in a positive way, and I appreciate what you do.

Intel is still the best for competitive gaming intels CPU’s hold there value and will continue to until they are actually dethroned .
Intels old 7700k is still as good for gaming as AMD’s 3900x there are few circumstances /games where there will be less than a 10% highest frame rate will go to the larger core size AMD 3000 series,
But also there is a a frame time consistency and latency issue that intel is ahead in and until amd 3000 series it was noticeable by the eye to even mediocre gamers, but competitive /pro gamers you won’t find any that use AMD CPU’s unless they were paid to same way with GPU’s Radeon aren’t used because they aren’t as good if they were they would be used by competitive / pro gamers .
AMD is the budget option and have finally developed product that are competitive I mean better late than never but I feel sorry for all the Ryzen first gen buyers who can’t give away there CPU’s because the last three years AMD literally pulled a line from intels book selling three generation of CPU’s at 5-10%improvement each year in three years the only thing they did differen is they dropped the price each generation slightly for every segmentation so as to canabalize the used value of there CPU’s , at least if you buy a high end intel cpu you can sell it for what you paid for it almost 5 years later because they aren’t throwing out $85 dollar good enough CPU’s and now there going with a 3100 that if you bought a Ryzen 5 1600 new for $250 two years ago you be lucky someone give you $50 for it today that’s tough phew so much for sale and upgrade the one cpu that everyone wants to upgrade is the 3900 or 3950 and those are the cost of a i9 9900k pretty much just not as good for gaming

Y'all do charts wrong. Charts are meant to be clear and easy to understand, showing relevant information at a glance. If you include LITERALLY every single processor on the market, the chart loses its meaning. You should include results of the processor you're reviewing, what it's meant to compete against, and maybe processors that are one tier higher or lower in price (like the 3600 in this video.)

i3 isn't great for desktop use but with the i3 9100 (non-F) including ECC support, integrated graphics, low power usage and workstation/server board support, it's actually one of the best NAS/media server chips you can buy. I'd love to build a Ryzen NAS machine but with a compromise between ECC and integrated graphics, and few workstation/server board options available, there aren't too many options. Yes, you could put a cheap discrete GPU on something like this R3 3100, but then you lose a PCIe slot that could have been used for more storage.

No, neither the 3100 or 3300x faster than the 7700k in gaming. Especially when the 7700k is overclocked. So you AMD fanboys can stop screaming Intel is dead. Anyone who wanted a 7700k bought one three years ago. You're screaming victory at the top of your lungs against a CPU no one cares about anymore. Congrats.
That being said, the 3300x is the much better value. Unless prices on the 7700k drop drastically it's not worth buying over a 3300x. But again, it's not faster. So, stop it lol.

They're "shilling" for AMD because if it wasn't for Ryzen and its rapid advancements, Intel would still be selling you a quad-core i7 for $350-400; maybe a 6-core if they were feeling generous. Now you can buy an efficient $120 CPU that's on par with the i7-7700 and can easily run in a $60 motherboard. I seriously don't understand how people like you whine about progress and getting more for your money thanks to competition.

The standard 3100 isn't designed to compete with the i7 line, it's more for the i3-i5 line, but the fact that it even sits near the i7 7700k, Intels 3 year old gaming king, on any chart consistently is very worrying for Intel. Especially since the 3300x actually beats the 7700k out right on 70% of tasks be it single or multi-threaded performance. For $120 that CPU is wiping the floor with a used 7700k at nearly $350.
