Is Cyhi The Prince the Greatest Ghostwriter Ever? Speaks on Writing 30 Kanye Songs (Flashback)

- n this VladTV flashback from 2017, Cyhi The Prynce discloses some information about the creative, collaborative process that occurs working with Kanye West. Cyhi said that he's been focused primarily on writing after some label disputes left his business in limbo but he's been a regular contributor to Yeezy's musical output. Cyhi has been credited on roughly 30 Kanye tracks. He goes onto to discuss how Kanye brings in a team of writers and creatives to help produce his artistic vision and lets the viewers know that Kanye pays well, even for the most innocuous contribution.
The Black Histori mixtapes are some of the best hip hop to come out in the last few years. Cyhi is sick with his pen
I never heard his mixtapes but his album is fire. Gonna go listen

He’s a writer not a ghostwriter. Ghostwriters don’t get credit
🎯🎯🎯🎯
💯💯💯
He is a ghost writer and a writer. he just legally can’t speak on the songs he’s ghost written on. That’s the whole point of ghost writing. You write for someone else knowing full well you’re not going to get any credit in the end . Albeit with a big ass check up front ...
You mean when he's writing for your favorite rapper then he's a writer .. but when he's writing for someone you don't F with then he's a ghost writer... GTFOH
Blindi that’s because you probably have never checked the writing credits on a song ever... should check out his music too
His Freestyles are better than shakesperes' poems
But not better than Shakespeare’s

Clockwork bro this has been the norm in music , music is collaboration. 99% of Every rapper have credited writers on their shit look at credits for any album you love then good the writers names. Everyone getting help, I got over it a while ago.
russellmorris52 not true tho... credits have more than just writers in them. So no, it is FAR from 99%.
GardenState Savage I said check Writing credits, there’s a specific section for writing. An artist like jay might only have them on 1 or 2 songs on the whole album vs a Kanye having 10 writers on every song . But pretty much no rapper makes an album anymore with no help unless they’re new. Not every rapper lets people write verses for them but EVERY big rappers gets hooks written for them including Nas, Jay and Eminem
You saw this on twitter stfu 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Ghost writer,co writer it don't matter, music has never and will never be a one man show its a collective and synchronization of energies jus like the music a collective and synchronization of sounds.
Correct, that's a part of the mystic of the music business that people refuse to accept. The great thing about ghostwriting or hiring one or some is everyone gets to eat. A person who's good with words, but might not have the look or the lyrical skills can get paid for their talent. Good to prolific writing and or musicianship has a longer career than merely just being a star singer or rapper.
@@thespadestable Exactly...a lot of the writers have no desire for fame, they jus want to get that experience or inspiration out!!! And get paid ofc

Because he is lol. You kids only know Kanye of 2010s. You have a no idea what Kanye did for hip hop in the 00s.
@@jaywiggle1106 yes on the production side of the game kanye is a legend. But lyrically he always been sub par compared to his peers. Gotta admit though college drop out and late registration was tight though.
@@donp9144 Sub par? His lyrics was on the same level as Hove, especially on his older albums and EPs, Jay and Beans themselves said they fuck with him, especially on the production level (how he linked with them in the first place).
@@that_deadeyegamer7920 im in no way a jay z fan in fact i would go as far as to say that i was never a jay z fan but i damn sure was a kanye fan at one point. Even when i would knock Kanye's songs back then I would never part my lips in any way to state that kanye is anywhere near jay z's level lyrically. Check out the song from college drop out "i am" at the end of this song kanye talks about what his peers thought about his lyrical ability. His songs were hot with plenty of lyrical content but Kanye's bars were average at best. It was his genius samples that carried a classic like college drop out. Oh and fyi they wont admit it but everybody who was really into hip hop at that the time roca fella was running the airwaves knew that jay z and everybody in his camped rock with kanye because they were making hits off his (kanye's) beats. It had nothing to do with his skills as a rapper.
@@donp9144 Kanye isn't better but as a lyricist he's pretty damn close to Jay Z, who in himself isn't really the best "lyricist" (he's cold with it, don't get me wrong) but rather one of the best performing hip hop artists and had a really unique and inventive flow. His verses one. Listen to the entire College Dropout album and like his verses on Diamonds From Sierra Leone, or hear Crack Music and Heard Em Say, on a good day Yeezy is on par with Jay Z lyrically.

The talent of being a rapper is the creation of putting words together that rhyme and sound great on a record. That’s the talent. The talent R&B and soul is the actual singing so it doesn’t matter who wrote the song. We are here for the voice. So what is your talent if someone is actually writing your lyrics as a rapper.
It does matter who writes the songs
Remember songs are made from experiences and inspiration bro...rappers singers djs poets etc they all vocalists, the world has a lot more people with the ability to write out their inspirations and experiences rather than voice them out, hence the importance of the vocalists. Its a two way honor, when it's done right ofc
Delivery is a skill.
delivery, you can deliver lryics a hundred different ways
Delivery is as it’s highest in importance in the genre for the mainstream like it or not. The reason why artists like Gunna and not Blu & Exile make it bigger. It’s the reason why Drake is even in the goat discussion among the younger generation. You can either take it as good or bad but that’ll differ from everyone’s perspective.
He’s actually a very amazing artist PERIODT!!!
Bruhhh underated AF! he been talented since we were in high school.I'm proud of ya home💪💪
If you have a ghost writer you are no longer an artist you are a ENTERTAINER 💯 leave the real shit to the true artist

rapping and singing is apple and oranges, in rap the skill is in the words, in singing the skill is the voice.

The Black Histori projects and No Dope On Sunday are nothing short of Classic Material.

Now this concept applies to just having the energy of hella people in the room with you all creating at the same time. That's why 2pac was so great, having the energy in the room makes for a epic project. And he wrote all of his shit
Y’all lames will make up any excuse but take credit from Drake if that’s the case this same shit applies to him not to mention Drake sings that’s a whole different ball game I’m willing to bet thats the only reason he use writers

30 Full Songs is crazy. But a big difference between Kanye and Drake's situation is perception and likeability. In total out of all information we have it's only provable that Drake had writer's write some parts of tracks or even provide the cadence to it, and that comes to about less than 10 tracks all together. So logically we can't really say it's more or less without proper proof. He gets a bit more credit as a writer bc his best material doesn't have writers listed like the songs he has references for...we can't assume they do if there's no grounds, another reason is it's never been proven that an entire song was written for him, and lastly the amount of material isn't sufficient enough. For example if he specifically got help on 10-20 songs, that's all we can assume out of his 250-400 records. Since Kanye is a bit more likeable and he has other labels like producer and artist, and isn't really that arrogant it makes their situations different in public eye. However if someone said they made 30 full songs for Drake he'd probably be done. He was looked at different for getting help on 6 tracks in 2015...some songs the person only wrote the hook or 8 lines so if you think of 30 full ones? Yeah that's game.
The publishing has to be CRAZY! Cyhi's pen game is ridiculous.
I doubt it....I’ve yet to see a hip-hop writer sitting on millions vs writers in other genres.

Kanye is a producer at heart not a rapper just like dr Dre , drake was always a rapper!!!
Kanye west is a sampler at heart. Any one can remix a well known and popular beat and make it sound good. That being said I like Kanye’s music, but he is not a god, his clothing (to include the yeezys and red October’s) are trash and he’s not in my top ten of all time. Andrew James I do agree that Kanye isn’t the genius a lot of people say he is, but to discredit hip-hop producers who sample as a whole is just a spit in the genre’s face imo. It’s the whole “hip-hop isn’t real music because they steal” thing all over again and there are hip-hop producers who sample who are definitely musical geniuses.

Cyhi might be the best ghostwriter in Kanye’s camp but not all time. Although he’s in the conversation
What if I told you Jungle or Nature wrote 1 mic for Nas.. ?..
Rhymefest co-wrote Jesus Walks. People act like he wrote Ye’s first three albums. Everybody that Ye collaborated with is credited.
Rhymefest lied. He didn't write any of kanye verses on jesus walks. He simply wrote chorus and got salty cause Kanye took his verse of the song and it became a hit
Don’t forget Consequence, Cam, Mase, King Push, Drake ect...
