I used to listen to VOA in one of the former "soviet satellite" countries. Back in the late 1970's and the 1980's, to us it was voice of hope for freedom. The communists did their best to interfere with these broadcasts, but the VOA signal was strong enough to overcome their jamming devices.
As a kid living in former Soc. country when selecting a radio station from Greece (Salonic) late evening ,VOA was loud and clear for few seconds, then a very strong noise was covering it for the length of transmission which was about half hour …
I seen it many times at Voa Park and they broadcast 2 Radio Stations They are Cincinnati's NewsRadio 700 Wlw On 94.5 Fm And Voice Of America Museum Radio Network On 95.9 Fm
It was hard to watch this. All the video was of WLW transitter site while they talked about VOA whose transmitter site and antenna farm was about a mile down the road.
Just so you know, the transmitter site and antenna farm has been turned into a museum in a public park. Much tougher to record that site than the WLW transmitter, which by the way was the VOA transmitter.
WLW climbs way more than 400 feet….more like 800 feet. Nice video…so sad to see the VOA towers coming down. I think that was big mistake in case cyber communication goes down. All part of the plan.

Hidden saviour of the world peace.
God bless VOA forever.
I've drove past that site many times but never knew the role it played in war time efforts.
Interesting info. Thanks 😊
So, there’s no more VOA? That explains why I can’t find it on SW
VOA Greenville NC relay station is still active.

Not Cincinnati. That's in West Chester.
