Ustad Mehdi Hasan sahib was a learned legend for generations and also he was best for ghazals, he had so sweet voice, when his first ghazal was got on air on radio in 60s I was young boy, I love his voice since then, nobody can match him Allah place khan sahib in jannatulfirdose Aameen

While studying at York University in Toronto, Canada I had the unique privilege n honour to listen to this timeless Gazal in person, sitting right next to Janab Mehdi Hassan in the front row at Seneca College , Don Mills and Finch Campus , Toronto, Canada in 1976. What a performance. What an artist. Unbelievable.

The tabla setting which ustaad sb did in the mid, shows his mastery and command. The beautiful sentences uttered by him in pain that surr was not going as he wished, are so moving 😢 💔. I'm trying to feel the feelings he wanted to convey to his audience and just by thinking of it, it takes me in emptiness/ like riding on wings of divinity and consciousness/ meditation... it's so soulful

He actually told the world that Ghazal singing is a distinct field with its own laws to be followed. Khan Sb sang with such a devotion as a person performs worship. Ghazal singing is getting obsolete gradually. Perhaps the new generation doesn't have the passion to do hard work as Khan sb did to attain perfection in singing

I have been his fan from listening to this song and now over 50 years still his one of the greatest fans in UK. I have been to several of his private and other shows. No one can even duplicate his voice like people do of Mukeshji and Rafiji (Peace Be Upon Their Devine Peace Be Upon His Devine Soul).
