Got the NB3 on sale. It’s a great daily option. I agree that if you have more of a tempo option like the deviate nitro 2 or the endo speed 3, you wouldn’t use the NB3 for workouts but it is still more versatile than most other daily trainers I’ve run in. I soon decided to buy two more NB3s on sale for even less so I’ll be covered for hopefully the next year of running!
@Tom you didn't like the 2 and 3? You listed the Novablast 2 in your "Best Running Shoes 2022: What shoes are making our rotations this year?" video. Did you forget?
Question about sizing: I wear most running shoes (including Nimbus 25) at size 11.5, but the novablast 3 I had to go size 11. Do the Novablast 4 fit same as the 3 length-wise or should I stick with my usual 11.5? Thanks!
I've never been a fan of the Nova bast 3 compared to the Nova blast 1&2 I loved that bounce in those models. I'll still try the Nova blast 4 to see what it's about
Gosh I had to quickly relegate the Nimbus 25 to shorter easy runs only as I find they just totally sap my energy after about 18km, especially on tired days , so I could never recommend them for truly long longruns! But neither would I recommend the Novablast for long runs either … I guess it depends what you class as a long run too though!
I feel like The Run Testers have collectively come to some odd consensus that the Novablast 3 was somehow really dull…at odds with everyone else that seems to have worn it.
I found the opposite.... The nb4 wasn't as responsive as the nb3 for me. A lot of reviewers have said the same. The eco foam doesn't quite have as much punch as the original FF blast plus foam. But still, a fantastic shoe. It's definitely not a superblast.
I've bought the nb4 as a nimbus replacement as it has more versatility. I'm not bothered whether it's as quick as the nb3 as I have speed 3s and hokas for faster runs
@@garthcox4307 well yeah I'll give you that. Speed 3 is a great shoe. The nimbus 25 is a good recovery shoe. And the nb4 is very similar. For an everyday shoe that can do well at most things.... The nb3 is better than the nb4.The speed 3 is probably better still
What does responsive mean to you though? I've seen quite a few people online describe shoes like the NB 3 as soft and responsive. That literally doesn't make any sense. Firmer foams are more responsive just look at any shoes made for speed. Softer foams have more cusion and soften the impact making them less responsive. You can't have both. So by design the NB 4 has a firmer foam making it by design more responsive than the NB 3. And I'd say for a none plated shoe the NB 4 is a responsive shoe with a slightly softer feel than the superblast.
@@kevinclark5086 response: bounce back. The nb4 a bit firmer but not a lot of response (bounce back). Nb3 a little bit softer so it condenses more and it gives a little more bounce back. Especially when you turn it up a notch. Superblast.... It's soft and the FF turbo foam has a lot of bounce back. And it's lighter 👍
Ive just ordered the Novablast 4. Im about to return a pair of Hoka Clifton 8 in the 30 day trial. They're awful. Im usually an asics (cumulus) man but thought id try hoka and wish i didnt. But getting a refund so happy days. Reading mixed reviews on these Novablast 4's. Some say theyre not as good as previous models. One runner on here states they've improved in wet conditions compared to the 3 version. Apparently they're not great in warm weather???? But i look forward to trying them out. Im training for my 5th half marathon so needing something decent.
I had the Clifton 8 a couple of years ago and they were good for 400 miles. Comfy but they always felt too big on my feet somehow, they are also the only shoes I've tripped in, which isn't something I usually ever do.
@@garthcox4 I'm 4 weeks in to running in my new ASICS Novablast 4 and they are superb. What a shoe!! They make me want to run faster and with me recently back into running after 18 months out, my mile times have improved within a short space of time whilst running in the Novablast. They make a mockery of Hoka!!!
I really like it and I'm glad I didn't buy the 3 on offer. I'd be interested in a comparison with the mach 6. Thsts a shoe I'm interested in but am debating whether it is different enough from the nb4 to make it worth buying as well.
The Mach 6 is fairly different. That’s what I use for my tempo runs/intervals, I wouldn’t wear the NB4 for intervals but there is some overlap where the NB4 feels fun tempo pace
The Novablast 3 could never handle tempo for me. It made easy runs feel quite sluggish like it was taking all energy out of my mid foot. Glideride 3 was a much more do it all plush trainer for me.
I'd love to get some feedback from anyone running in the Novablast 4. How many kilometres to break the shoes in? I've 3 runs in mine 5km, 8km and 10km and I'm absolutely hating them, don' t feel comfortable, not as much cushion as I expected, my Hoka Clifton 9 were great right out the box. Do I need to give the Novablast 4's a bit more time? Thanks.
Guys I need help. I'm heavy runner. I'm 190cm tall and I have 105kg. I need long run shoe up to half marathon distance. I have mid foot strike and neutral or slight overpronation. What shoe would you recommend? Thank you in advance.
I have the NB4 and New Balance More V5 and a 105kg runner. Both in my rotation, V5 100% for cushion and slightly slower run and NB4 for quicker runner but less cushion
I’ve had an Achilles issue, as have 2x sub elite friends of mine, and a 5mm (a lower) drop helped each of us more than a higher drop. Ask a professional if in doubt
@@NickGrobler81 that’s really interesting. My current shoes are an 8mm drop. Realistically the best way to know for sure will probably just be to try higher and try lower and see. Thank you! 😊
@@Jlmasterson 8mm is actually moderately high already. If your achilles still hurts with an 8mm shoe, probably the issue is not about your shoes. However, it is generally good to have a range of shoe characteristic in your rotation, so you can train different parts of your feet and legs. At the moment I have a 10mm, 8mm, 6mm, 4mm shoes in my rotation.. plus one barefoot sandals (which I also use for running). They end up making below par shoes that get trashed sooner rather than later causing even more waste. Not just Asics but Nike too with their Next nature and Adidas with their parley lines. Marketing environmental friendly because it is cool but what is the end result ...?
Perfect i had all of them 1-2-3 and I love the novablast 4 i have now over 100 kilometres and it feels more stable and quicker than the order versions

I got the 3 at half price and like it so far. Jane is glowing in this review - not about the shoes, just in general.
Right?! Congratulations Jane! 🎉
NB from 1 to 3 were a bit long regarding the sizing. So going down half size was a must. Is it the same with NB v.4?

Nb3 is a fantastic shoe. Genuinely the first time I've heard anyone say they didn't like it 😂
I concur. It's a strange criticism because I felt the total opposite regarding the Novablast 3 too. It was pretty damn good in my books.
Yeah it’s weird. I love my NB3.
Maybe they all got a bad batch? 😅
Im confused with this testers they seem to have different foot than every one 😂
