I don’t own a CM but it looks like you have the option to save your flash and exposure compensation settings based on the instruction manual. They refer to these stored settings as modes.
Press and hold the flash option button until it 'blinks' then dial up the flash off symbol with wheel.
With flash option button kept depressed for a further few seconds it will rapidly flash or blink.
    Then release it.
You should now be able to turn the CM off and on, the flash settings will remain set.

Video @ 4:38 "I couldn't really figure out how to turn it off" - For the longevity of the camera, that feature is absolutely necessary ! (Read the comment below on how to avoid the "Dreaded E02 error") - Video @ 7:25 "If we can re-house this" - Well with the skyrocketing values of the Minilux and CM units (short of a fully water damaged or heavy impacted camera), it would be regarded as butchery to go this "re-house" route. They are repairable !

Thank you for this interesting informative review. Many of your photos turned out very nicely -- I especially like the shot of your cat on a table with the interesting shadows in the background on the wall. It would be very interesting to compare the 40mm Summarit on the CM with the 40mm Summicron, or the Minolta version, from the CL line.

I had this camera for a year and I could say that this is probably the best P&S film camera ever! Super sharp lens and silent autofocus. The reason I sold it was the assistant light which the passive autofocus use and could not be switched off. This is not good for street photography

Why no mention of theCM Zoom? It’s a fantastic alternative to the fixed focal length CM and it came out the same year.
My biggest issue with the CM Zoom is the flimsy strap attachment loop. Mine broke while I had the wrist strap on and I dropped it on concrete. Although functionally the Titanium body still works, there is a dent in the rear door and some scratches on the body.
The CM Zoom is my favorite pocketable camera ever made. Although a close second is the Olympus XA 2.

Awesome shots! Which lab did you use for the scans? Thanks!

Thanks for watching! We had our friends over at Underdog Film lab in Oakland, CA process and scan the film for this video. Definitely check them out!

I own this camera and LOVE it! However it has succumb to the dreaded E1 shutter error. Trying to find someone who can repair it. You can save the settings but will reset to default once the battery is taken out/replaced.

Check out a company called Red Dot Repair. They repair these!

@@michael-d7114 thanks for sharing! I just recently got it repaired and my CM is back in action. I just shot my first role since the repair last week. I was able to find a local camera shop which did the repair.

How much are repairs for these cameras when they receive the error messages

I remember when the CM came out and thought it was a very attractive machine. The brown leather case was equally opulent. My only misgiving, which you allude to, is once there is a malfunction, the camera is unrepairable. Has that changed?

"the camera is unrepairable" - Not true. Most every failure is the "Dreaded E02 error" - As you normally use the camera, there's a flexible printed circuit that folds & unfolds with EVERY lens open/close movement. So every time you turn the camera off-on, you're putting 'mileage' on this flex. With this "PAPERCLIP" effect, a circuit break will eventually occur. Since information from the lens has been interrupted, the EO2 error will then be indicated by the LCD display.
So, if one has already sent in a unit for repairing this issue, or if it has yet to happen, then I'd recommend AVOIDING the open-close routine. Best to always leave the camera ON. This allows the camera to simply 'Go To Sleep' without lens storage (Best to just put up with the sensitive release button issue mentioned in this video). The lens only needs to 'retract' when the battery is changed; since the lens always stays out, I'd acquire a *slip-on cap or a DIY shade - All this so you can STOP 'bending the paperclip'!
*I found a Walgreens/Rite-Aid prescription pill bottle (Using its dual function child-proof cap). For aesthetics I sprayed it with black paint and glued in the middle of the outside facing surface a "Leica" red dot...
      - Leica Parts department sells the dots (I'm a Leica camera tech so I order these often).

You can now get a replacement flex cable to fix the issue. I'm getting mine replaced for c.£200 but the part is only £40 so you could get it done cheaper if you know someone handy with a soldering iron.

you can actually save settings, read the manual before doing a 10 min review
