    Hi Angelo.
    Thanks for the always good discussed topics for us investors in Europe.
    Also to comment very nice progress you have.
    I personally do not think so much on being excited on receiving the dividends, but once the time comes, I do not want to sell anything, but rather receive the cash flow and enjoy life.
    Accumulating for me means more I need still to sell shares, pay taxes, looking how the money on the account is decreasing which I don't believe anyone of us would like to see.
    But it's only my view at the moment and for now I will continue with buying good dividend stocks and ETF's for my portfolio.
    Cheers and keep up the good work.

      Thank you David, also for sharing your perspective.
      I'm sure that us starting to withdraw some money by selling some accumulating shares regularly in retirement will feel strange at the beginning, but I'm sure we'll get used to it after a while. But I understand why you'd prefer not needing to do that.

    Hi Angelo, thank you for the great content. What do you think about dividend ETFs being less volatile and so less risky, especially in a market corection period? Do you think they can be used as a hedge in addition to VWCE that has more weight in Tech?
    Does it make sence to build 2 ETFs portfolio between VWCE and VHYL in your opinion? The main goal is not the dividents but to lower risk and to have part of the advantage in the retirement phase where you get dividends instead of selling part of your portfolio.

    Hi Angelo. As usual good stuff and simplified information made it easier to understand. This is really tempting to pursue but the capital gain tax in Germany is too high (almost 27%). The rebate is capped at only 2000euro/year... This make the approach seems to be counter intuitive. What do you think on this? or am I missing the points here?

    3/3 with 33% on every 1/3 like
    1) Foundational U.S. ETF - VOO or VTI
    2) High Risk High Reward - Growth ETF (VUG, SCHG, or QQQM)
    3) Safe/ Stability - Dividend ETF (SCHD or VYM)
    # I need to find subtitudes for them in europe
    or
    Should i just focus on one Etf like the FTSE All-World and chill?

    I also prefer portfolio #2. In fact, my own portfolio is quite similar.
    An important fact you didn't mention is that every ETF in portfolio #2 has a nicely growing dividend payout of about 6% p.a. Meaning, your absolute dividend payout doubles every 12 years or so, without needing to invest more money.

    Can I ask you… is it possible to transfer from an accumulating ETF to the equivalent ETF but in its distribution counterpart without selling and having a taxable event?

      You would have to sell & switch to different ETFs if that was important to you. But that would make no sense, since fees for selling are so low nowadays using low-cost brokers like IB and Trade Republic. Thus, you can just sell a percentage of your accumulating ETF each year (eg. its reinvested dividend yield) to the same effect, while being a lot more tax-efficient long-term in most European countries: ua-cam.com/video/b_TXq9H8prQ/v-deo.html

    A question about USD ETFs: If the USD devalues compared to the Euro, the these if ETFs will lose value right?

    • @AngeloColomboFi
      @AngeloColomboFi  5 місяців тому

      USD is the fund currency, which is irrelevant since the stocks within are diversified globally (in many different currencies). Yes if the USD loses value against the EUR, that will likely negatively impact ETF performance in € short-term, since most global ETFs have a US share of 60% or so. But long-term it's not worth worrying about (or wasting high fees hedging against), since it's normal for currencies to fluctuate in value.

    Excellent stuff Angelo, very informative! I really enjoy your videos. They are extremely helpful! I have a question regarding how to buy an accumulative version of S&P500 UCITS ETF in IBKR. Since I plan to be a European long term investor, as I live in Greece, I want to choose the appropriate Listing Stock Exchange of the ETF. Currently, IBKR gives me to options for the S&P500, LSEETF and BVME.ETF. I understand that the first is exchanged in Dollars and the second one in Euros. Also, I understand that the dividends that will be reinvested would be in Dollars.? So my question is the following. Does it matter which Stoch Exchange I choose if I want to not pay any currency exchange fees? In what currency should I trade, and is there a way to choose a different Stock Exchange if it is more beneficial to me, even though IBKR provides me only those two options? Thank you very much and again, lovely stuff!

      @AngeloColomboFi  6 місяців тому +1

      Thank you! I would pick BVME since EUR is your home currency. VUAA is accumulating by the way, so dividends will be automatically reinvested into stocks within the fund, raising its share price by that amount.

    Dear Angelo, First of all I appreciate your nicely described videos. Please keep it up. And it’s better to mention that my portfolio also looks like yours portfolio 2.
    I am investing on,
    1. Vanguard Funds PLC - Vanguard FTSE All World UCITS ETF (DIS)
    2. Fidelity US Quality Income UCITS ETF Income USD Shares (DIS)
    3. iShares Core MSCI World UCITS ETF (ACC).
    Is it okay? or should I change little bit? Because I just started last month so still I can do rearrange. My 2nd question is, there are lots of overlap between these ETF. Is it okay?
    Please let me know, I will be thankful to hear from you.

      Thank you! It's for you to decide if it's ok, I can't tell you that. If you wanted additional US exposure with a quality/dividend factor (US quality income) and to reduce your Emerging Markets exposure overall compared to just buying the FTSE All-World (by adding the MSCI World), then you achieved that. In my opinion a FTSE All-World on its own is already enough and easier to stick to long-term as a strategy, but it's up to you in the end :)

    Do all the mentioned ETFs pay out in €?

    • @AngeloColomboFi
      @AngeloColomboFi  6 місяців тому

      On Interactive Brokers they pay out in USD since that's the fund currency and you can hold USD there directly (or convert it to € yourself), while on other brokers like Trade Republic dividend payments are converted to € and paid out to your account in €.

    As Belgian, I need to pay tax on every dividend I receive, would you thus recommend to only invest in accumulating ETFs?

    • @AngeloColomboFi

      If dividends are taxed right away and accumulating ETFs are not then I'd say yes, it would definitely make sense long-term.

      hey, dont forget that if you live in Belgium you don't have to pay withholding tax (30%) on the first €840 dividends that you receive on an annual basis. if you are married or you have a legal cohabitation this amount from €840 can go up to €1.680 , because when you are in one of those situations you can choose to fill in one personal tax file instead of two.
      Furthermore it is very important to tell this as well; you will pay the withholding tax from 30%, but you get it back from your personal tax. so you pay it, but you always get it back through your persontal tax. You just need to keep the documents you get from your broker.
      Also, i know that you don't have to believe anyone on the internet, but oyu can look this up for sure!
      ps: my english is okay, but i can explain this much better in Dutch, sorry!

    Thanks for another interesting video. I own the SPDR S&P US Dividend Aristocrats UCITS ETF, and I'm losing almost 12% this year. No dividend can compensate these huge losses. I should have followed your simple approach and invest all in the FTSE all world.

    • @AngeloColomboFi
      @AngeloColomboFi  6 місяців тому +1

      My pleasure! If you generally like what the ETF invests in (US dividend companies), then I wouldn't judge it based on its 1-year performance alone. It actually outperformed the FTSE All-World over the past 3 years and since 2012. Obviously I still prefer the latter since I don't like investments that are that concentrated on one country/strategy, but I still recommend zooming out when reviewing an ETFs performance.
