I am a fellow animator and I would like to give you two tips: when making an animatic always have the mouth open unless there is absolutely no sinning in the background for that frame also in just about every frame she has the creepiest of smiles and they are really good! but try to add in a few more solemn faces or other expressions to make those crazy smiles really impactful! i really love your art and this video is so neat. I've watched this a couple of times now. This is very well done/ I've only just finished watching all 5 seasons and finding this came at the right time. Splendid work! You captured the creep factor well, as well as the emotions of Steven and Pink's old Pearl.
I love the unnerving expression on white diamonds face! How her smile stretches juust a little to far to be natural, how wide and almost manic her eyes are... the song choice is beautiful- it has a manic, controlling, and obsessive vibe to it- very good for the wd's character/relationship w/ steven. (Then there's the fact she's just so big, you get a feeling of utter helpless- what if she gets mad? People like this can be truly terrifying when upset)

White transformed into the ultimate therapist in SUF, a true 180° from her old self. But that transformation would have been so much more meaningful if we would have gotten to see more of this side of her before the show ended. Should have been 6 seasons…
Sadly CN did not want to extend it if they were going to allow The Wedding to happen. White deffo needed 2 or 3 more episodes. I still prefer what we got to something like Evangelion's last two episodes. At least half of Future was good (Voleyball was mishandled)

I know I'm hella late to this, but I just wanna sing my praises for this animatic! Because I think it did more justice to White's character than the show did. I am by no means an expert on abusive relationships--I have been very fortunate to not be--but the way I interpret the Diamonds of SU are the three main types of abuse a person (more accurately a child) can go through. Yellow represents physical abuse, as evidenced by her frequent bouts of anger and habit of poofing and/or electrocuting gems that cross her. Blue represents emotional abuse, in which she frequently causes characters to cry or feel guilty whenever they do something that upsets her. White represents a toxic, manipulative relationship most often exhibited by parents (which makes sense, considering she is the literal matriarch of the gem society). She's very in-control and firm as a leader, but obviously instills fear and loyalty into her subjects and family, essentially making them dependent upon her in just about everything they do. SU, as a young adult show, doesn't hide these details but doesn't spell them out either. This isn't just speculation--there is very obvious nods and direct references to this in the show. The show's finale develops White's character very well--especially for a character we see for a small handful of times on screen!--but I feel they let her down at the end when she starts throwing a tantrum to Steven's re-fusion (refusal? yeah, refusal). While this is technically in character, it also just... doesn't feel quiet right. It fits her character traits and the episode's arc, but not her *character.* This animatic? This fixes the problem. White was made to be a very calm, intimidating person--both for the empire and for the Diamonds. But I'm sure we all know someone who projects completely different personalities depending on the situation. There are plenty! So it wouldn't be too farfetched for White to have a split-personality trait. And the personality projected in this animatic? It fits! White is a crazed, clinging mother-figure that remains completely in-control and *controlling* for Steven, who manipulates him into reaccepting his role and the fourth Diamond of Homeworld. She's not insane, but she's certainly crazy. Now the breakdown in the finale makes sense, while also giving a new factor of intimidation to White Diamond. Both the characters and the viewers were walking on eggshells around Yellow and Blue, but this version of White is like tiptoeing on Christmas ornaments. Really well done, I thoroughly enjoyed the animatic!

This was absolutly horrifying... in all the best ways possible. Not only did the animatic flow smoothly while keeping a sense of space, it also took the tone of the voice and atmosphere of the lyrics and converted them smoothly into Steven Universe. This. Was. Awesome.
