I have just been in Istanbul for a week. It’s a clean and nice city with lots of nice restaurants to choose, great history and land scapes as well .
The only thing disappointed me is that big kurdo phobia going on there. As a half British and half Kurdish origin , I was very shocked by the amount of racism exiting in that city against Kurdish people who are making up to %20 of the population in Turkey. Not all of them but a lot of them unfortunately proudly showing racist acts. With my English friend who came with me to Istanbul for the first time in his life, we bought ice cream in Taksim street , I show my gratitude to the shop , saying thank you in Turkish language, he replied with nice smile , I said thanks again in Kurdish language, the face expression change drastically to an angry rude mood , said something in Turkish I’m sure it was a nasty words. I don’t understand Turkish language. My English friend felt it too. It’s sad that tolerance is not existing in that beautiful country. What’s wrong if all ethnics to live in harmony and respect to each others , why Kurdish language and culture are taboo? They were existing in Anatolia thousands of years before establishing of Turkish state in 1923 , why they can’t be free to study and practice their own cultural rights, isn’t that better for healthier Turkish country ? Hatred and racism are never a solution, look at history of Europe? It never works that way, it’s the era of tolerance and accepting each other’s not denying and rejecting, hope Turkey will change its education system. State systematically racist institutions will never bring peace to the nation.

yes, a person is not punished for insulting the prophet, but if he insults him, he will be punished. lol still protected by law unfortunately
insult is not a good thing, but sometimes freedom of opinion is considered by law as insult.

@@medenilost1547 Insulting the Prophet is considered a crime in Turkey.If you look at the news, you can see the people who were punished because of it.Also it is very normal that insulting Atatürk is a crime. Atatürk did not do this himself. Such a law was enacted because Atatürk's busts were attacked.
