You need to travel more often, Andrew! We can’t be waiting a month for uploads 🤣 I flew that route in the same seat in March 19. My thoughts were pretty much the same : the ground experience wasn’t great. Fast track security was diminished by merging with main queue, USCBP was slow (no business line), hot food options in the 51st lounge (exterior shown at 05:23) were so poor I went for a Guinness and Tayto. On board service was excellent, with friendly crew, very generous drinks service and delicious beef filet. My footrest in 3K appeared to be coming loose from its mechanism but I “fixed it” with a sharp push of my heels. I showered in the arrivals lounge on my return to DUB before self connecting back to LHR on Avios.
Good to hear! The ground experience let’s EI down hugely, particularly on its European services. The basics are there; they just need to get the execution right.
@@theflyingderryman I like to support my home airline but they make it hard to love them. It makes sense to fly BA out of LHR because the Galleries lounges in T5 are vastly superior to EI’s offering in T2. I do the opposite on my return as the distance between EI’s magic CTA gate and baggage claim is only 50 metres. Where are you going to next?!
I've also flown that cabin a few times and agree with the ground experience comments-you can actually pay into 51st and green by the way,so it's not that exclusive but it's far better than the offering in the main EI lounge Why they can't emulate the new East lounge with its hot food and table service next door I don't know Cost I guess
@@anydroid BA now have a great CTA gate at T5 that they use exclusively for DUB flights (possibly JER etc also). It’s the same short distance to the baggage hall
@@Itristrame thanks! The ground experience is horrendous on short haul also. I’ve just returned from a terrible flight from VCE, which didn’t even have an AerClub lane at check in let alone lounge access. EI’s focus on premium passengers really seems to be non-existent.
What a great video. Subbed! One question though, what was that bun like? It looks like it was some sort of pumpernickel and pumpkin seed extravaganza, amazing.
02:57 ...... I hope seeing your trainers in the shoe storage compartment was recorded once the seat belt signs were switched off ? If not, as former cabin crew that's concerning to see. Maybe it was just your editing that confused me, then I saw TAYO crisp`s ! Instant forgiveness 🤣
We just used this flight today! Economy. Nothing special but everything went fine.
Yet again, most enjoyable video, thank you.
Thanks William!
Thank you for sharing this flight. It looks very good.
It was a pleasure. Thanks for your feedback!
@@theflyingderryman You are welcome from all the way here in Chicago, IL USA.

Another great review!
Much appreciated, Dan!
Great video, and the inflight service looked better than BA.
Class!
Great commentary 👍
Thanks Joe!
I enjoy your videos
Much appreciated!
Very good video ! As you re ex EI (I ve never seen you before). When did you leave?
Many years ago now Tomáš - I don’t think we were there at the same time.
Do they fly directly to LAX?
They do indeed
@@theflyingderryman Good to know. Thank you
Yeah, I never read that book either.
I'm from Derry
The Derry man is handsome
Those eye shades are cheap and nasty
