I like how you work with the lines ❤.
Personally, I can take a cup of coffee and sit down by the bike and just watch it. Sometimes it speaks to me 😅
Man, that thing is absolutely bad ass....
Cant wait to see what you do with the pipes Billy....damn thats a nice bike man....
Thank you, I started the exhaust but just ran out of time before I needed to upload this video. But the pipes will fit the style well.
@@BillyLaneChopperscool man, thanks for responding, much appreciated Billy...cant wait to see the next video man.
I like how you explain your creative process too. The lines you look for and how you line parts up. What a cool old bike.
I've built a lot of bikes, and you are my favorite builder. Thanks for all you do for the hobby and for sharing.
Such a conversational, personal presentation. Almost as if you were standing around Billy's shop one on one. I hope someone will be filming and presenting the Trans Am event. This will give me another reason to watch. Thanks.
the king of cool. Great build Billy.
So sick! That's a hell of a journey, especially on a 100 yr old bike 🤯
Billy its amazing to see you doing your thing. I met you with my dad at a show like 20 years ago or so & you were soo nice to me and my dad yall talked for like an hour because he is a pinstriper from the west side and i remeber being a little ass kid and amazed to meet sombidy i actually saw on tv on a show me and my dad would watch together. You the man billy
Yet again, another fantastic video of showing your skills and making it look so easy..
Really enjoy these build videos.
Simply stunning! I love the JD tanks with the rocker cutouts. And the olive paint and stripe. I did kinda the same thing with my side-mount TC Bros model A tail light/plate kit on my Fat Bob. I reconfigured the bracket, ditched the plate mount and made my own aluminum 2-hole plate bracket that bolts to the light bracket, converting it to light over plate. I used the same hole in the fender to mount the rear seat bracket over the light bracket, with a beefier bolt of course. The same angle as your JD to fit the lines. The Fat Bob rear fender chop angle matches the light, plate, La Rosa leather Sportster bags and tip of the fender/shock strut mount chrome trim pieces, and the back of the seat slope, and the shock angle. Jim from Side Road Cycles hooked me up with some freshly powder coated black Flanders narrow 27" 18 deg. "fat" dia. drag bars. Bad ass look and fit with "fat" 3" extensions under the stock Harley risors. Can't wait to see it finished and hear it run!
Never gets old watching you build beautiful machines! ✌️❤️🤘🙏🇺🇸
Original Harley muscle. My best friend had a 28 JD. Lost him 16 yrs ago.
What a beauty! Good job!
Another great vid watching you do what you do but I had to restart it a couple times in the begining… couldn’t take my eyes off that bad ass Custom Deluxe step side!
Nicely explained the craftsmanship, appreciate the sharing of your expertise. Digging the style.
And I bet that beauty will fit awesome in the back of that truck that was made back when Chevys were still good.
Beautiful outlaw race machine. Billy I couldn't help seeing your Crocker would love to see that machine on the lift.
The Crocker….I’ve had it since the 90’s, and threaten to finish it several times a year. It runs, & doesn’t need that much to be done. I have plans to finish it this summer- hopefully my plans are realized. It’s a great bike. The dream is to have the Crocker & JD as daily riders.
The first Crocker I saw in person was with Dale Walksler,I couldn’t believe the hole shots he laid down with it.
Thanks for the great content Billy. 😎
I like to use an old chain as a spacer for the fender gap, beautiful bike sir 👍
That is actually a very good idea. I’m going to try it next time
Really cool Billy!
That is looking good Billy, looking forward to the completion of this bike! Right in my wheelhouse
Glad you like it. I’ve had several over the years, & let them go. This one is a keeper, it’s going to be beautiful in traditional black and red paint
@ that’s going to look super good, have fun in Florida my friend!
Love watching you work. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and skills!
Great Video Billy. I have been a fan. Since Biker Build Off days
I appreciate you sticking with me for the past two decades plus
Nice bike brother this is going to be cool thank you
Thank you for showing us the way! I'm inspired.
I’m so glad you’re inspired, thank you for watching
amazing content Billy.... thanks a lot!
Glad you like it, thank you for watching
Awesome build I hope you have a great time doing that run sounds like a great adventure. ✌️😎
Wholy crap what beauty. Can't wait to see it finished.
So awesome Billy and no one deserves these treasures as much as you. Thanks for sharing with us all and for rebuilding your life, no matter what anyone says, you're legendary king of all things on 2, many are only jealous of that, sadly, when that isn't the way. Progress Knowledge and skill cannot be denied, especially remaining humble as you always do.
You sir are an artist. Absolutely stunning work.
Thank you. With a face like mine, I’d better have a good eye.
Brilliant build of early low buck custom bike. Just great someone can create such a pukka piece of motorcycle history.
Man, giving all this experience away for free? What a nice guy
While I do appreciate his skill set, I just don’t like his character, thinking he’s just another wild, godless, and self centered person!😖🔥🤯🐿😡!
@TimothyWade-w6j you can be serious dude. He's the exact opposite...wow
@@TimothyWade-w6j I've met Billy twice in my life and I can tell you, you'll never meet a more decent down to earth man.
wow!! That is wicked. Lots of respect from Scotland.
I really like these vintage bobber / outlaw / chopper whatever you call it builds.
They remind me of the Klunkers and 70's style bmx bikes I ride , simple and functional.
Such a rad bike! Love the setup. One day I’d like to own one.
Billy, I have watched you since biker build off. Awesomness.
Over 20 years of following your work and you never disappoint man. I love it!
Dude, that is one cool old bike. And,,, you are one tough son of a gun to ride that thing from North Carolina to California. I'll be watching and praying for a safe trip for you.
Cool bike and cool dude. Be careful brother.
a wealth of Knowledge Thanks!
Another great video. Truly you are a master fabricator!
Love the way it's evolving. Looking forward to seeing the next episode.
Great stuff Billy, great episode, love watching you work and bringing life back to those old dogs. Very much looking forward to this series.
Selling original parts to fund the build is always the way to go especially as you aren’t restoring them on the bike.
Man even the tires are nice!
Just subscribed to follow this build. That Fall run goes right through my home town Apex. Might have to do the Nags Head to Apex part with y’all.
Awesome build.
Great vid!
As usual a great video . I cant wait to see it finished, ut looks really cool so far.
I really like the lines of that frame. You can definitely see what the RL and VL frames evolved from.
The J/JD was really impressive, and had great lines. I always loved the frames, also
I definitely aesthetically prefer the smaller physical size engines of this era. And it let's the lines of the bike's frame and their proportions sing.
The Harley-Davidson J-model is a beautiful piece of work. It’s so raw & mechanical, and mechanically loud because there is no material silencing the violence going on inside. These bikes are super nimble, especially with the bigger 20” wheels. They feel similar to a knucklehead in power/weight ratio. Fun to ride, but they need a lot of attention.
Really great lines on your build. I'm 6'8" and would love an old bobber to fit me, however I make everything look like a minibike. Like how youmake all your videos an instructional.
Cool ass bike! I hope when you do that TransAmerica ride you document that and do a video of it. Also loved that Indian Larry hat you were sportin. Great video usual Billy keep em coming!
I’m going to document the completion of this JD, ride preparation, and the ride for UA-cam. I’ll also do a bunch of daily UA-cam Live videos from the journey.
Mastery of Badassery
Looking good 😎 , the gearing looks tall , she should scoot along nicely 🤗👍✌
There’s a lot of reduction between the engine sprocket & the clutch chainwheel. But I’ll calculate it and find a good balance between highway riding and around town stop & go needs.
This guy is a legend. Love it.
I dig the lines she looks nice man!
🙌 looks great 🇺🇸
Honored to be subscribed! Great looking bike! Sounds like a great trip cross country. What a cool bike to do it on! Thanks for the video!!
Thank you. It’s going to be an interesting and fun journey, curious to see how far we can take it.
@@BillyLaneChoppers Have you talked Warren into riding with you?
I'm digging this build!!
Bravo Billy. Good luck on all your endeavours.
Thx man for another great video !
Thank you for watching, glad you liked it
Very nice bike sir you rock
Thank you, very excited about this one
Awesome bike ❤ your videos .
Awesome bike, I love it
It’s looking great !
Looks great
Very cool
Love ya Billy!
- 🟥 & ⬜
I like the how to format.
FYI, Tom from Replicant Metals up near me in PA has a pretty good selection of reproduction parts for the pre 36 crowd. He sets up a good stand at Oley every year.
looking forward to the brass grip video
SWEET!
Nice scooter.
Thank you for another great video. Will you be documenting your journey when you go on the cross country ride for us ?
I like it Billy
Me too, thank you for watching
❤ Brother
Bill I would leave it just the way it is!!
Thats going to be fucking wicked man!
Very nice billy I have a 35 vl frame and original handlebars if you're interested would love to see it go to a good home.
And he isnt a hoarder! He's like,"I don't need and will sell, cause someone probably does need the stuff that he admits he doesn't. Many ways of giving back to the "game".
Sweeeeet 🤘📷🤘
Siiiiiiiick!!! 🔥
awsome bike Billy love this style what is the seat that you have used?
Outstanding!!💯👈 Taking the mother road? 66👈
I don’t know if 66 is part of the route, but you can bet that I’ll ride the JD over it while out west
@BillyLaneChoppers That's gonna be great!! 💯👈
What’s going on with outlaw TV ? I’m stoked to see you Jesse and Sr on tv again
Nice JD bobber! Thank you for not cutting up the fork or frame. But if you're serious about riding the Trans-Am with it, you'd be WAY better off with the stock spring seatpost and solo seat set-up. Trust me, you won't be sorry. 😅
6:02 Umm...that's 3 3/8ths, Billy.
Hey Billy what do you think of spring loaded chain tensioner. Trying to keep the gap of my rear tire to fender the same. I would definitely appreciate any feeling you have on this. Take care and stay safe my friend.
Hey Billy I love your videos. I tried to email and message you on Instagram. I have a brass indian larry points cover and I was seeing if you thought it was a original one from back in the day. It doesn't look like no new style they sell now. Thanks man. I did send pictures to your Instagram a while back.
There is a solder U.S. plumbers use , the brand name is “BRIDGIT” , high nickel content solder , in many cases , silver solder might be to hot , the above mentioned solder is as strong as silver , and the nickel is a smoother finish . MLNR JIMMY53 MIDNIGHT RAMBLERZ MC!
L&R JIMMY53. I’m going to try this solder, I’m certain Harley-Davidson wasn’t using silver on these motorcycles
💯🤟💓
Super cool old iron
Much respect Billy, but aren’t drop center rims safer at speed than the clincher ones that you have ?
Thank you. Safety bead rims & tires are safer, but the clinchers should hold up as long as I’m able to maintain air pressure in the inner tubes. I’m using high quality tubes, so confident in them. And those 20’s look SOOO GOOD
Grrreat
How the hell did you start with that turd and end up with that bike, FN cool, huge balls just to try that job!
Fender brace. Just wondering does centrifugal force say at 60 mph throw the tire outward where it would rub the brace? You might not feel it but it could cause tire wear. Am I wrong?
I’d love to know what you’re asking for that motor
Just curious Billy would you ever build a JD chopper
I would. I’ve thought about it. A friend is doing one now. The engines are SO cool
@@BillyLaneChoppersyour friends building a JD chopper what style of chopper
The rear-light looks like a short pevel looking at the sky, not sure about that.
I’ve been doing this for a living since I was a teenager- almost four decades. I respect your opinion, but I know this light looks perfect
Looking forward to you getting in trouble with the missus so you have to make the brass handles.... :)
On this bike everyone has said what I would say.... though I also learnt good tools are key. I must spend more on a good set of callipers.
Where do you offer your parts for sale ?
