I was approached exactly the way you tell Kevin, told great deal on apartment and then taken into shop trying to sell tablet to me, I just walked away. Thanks for making people aware.
I know exactly who the guy is he’s a bloody nuisance he’s always outside the shop you showed him on your video Kevin , we stay in Parque Santiago three most times on holiday and every time we pass the shop we get approached by him he’s said to me I have an apartment across the road if you want to book it and always saying he’s got some cheap iPads I always say I have my own apartment , it’s best to cross the road and walk on the other side , it’s good that you’re telling people about this guy Kevin a big thumbs up from me Kevin 👍
Thanks for highlighting this scam Kevin We have been approached on several occasions & made it uncomfortable to go into some shops as these scammers are so persistent We never fell for it & just walked away saying no but unfortunately some people have been caught out xx👍👍
OM electronics is a fake electronics store they are selling fake items they are the scammers as people are saying on google reviews on google maps OM electronics is a FAKE store the whole store is a scam maybe that's the store where the guy goes out of
Great advice Kevin, a lot of newcomers to Tenerife might not know about staying well clear of certain electrical shops around PS3. Anyone thinking of getting a good deal on a phone, tablet or bluetooth speaker then don't bother buy them in the UK or your home country.
I am in Lanzorate at the moment. A few days ago i bought a pair of bose headphones foy 90 euro. looked on youtube and found they were fake. the charging light also kept flickering so could catch on fire. I went back in the shop the next day and it took a lot of persuading the owner to refund me
@cody Jarrett glad you managed to get a refund, I have a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort headphones myself bought in a reputable shop here in the UK and they are way more expensive than €90.
I think I know the exact shop :) we were looking in a nearby shop and got approached by a guy telling us about the local markets and special discounts etc. when we showed an interest he immediately took us to is shop "to give us a leaflet" and started trying to sell us dodgy tablets. I had already seen your video on this :) so thanks for the heads up. What I found funny was I showed him my iphone and told him that I also have a top of the range ipad and macbook, yet he persisted in trying sell me a shonky tablet.
Hi kevin, yes my wife fell for the table scam in los christianos and when we went to pick it up they took us to a shop behind Veronica's and the boss was saying he had a hotel nearby if we were interested in coming back to tenerife but seemed unhappy when I called him out as a scammer . It nearly put her off going back to tenerife, wouldn't be surprised if they are all linked. Keep up the good work
We were in ps 3 last week. The guys who approached us were Asian and offered the apartments opposite for next year. They also pushed the tablets gir 39 euros. The main guy is in your video- turn left when exiting shopping centre and they are 30-40 yards up.
Correct ,Bought a cracking tablet for 80e a few years back ,Spent 30mins in the shop waiting for it ,Apparently they were printing the 300page manual for me ,It was so complicated ,There were other sub standard things with this Samsung tablet .He then tried to get me to upgrade another 200 for this all singing all dancing piece of crap .I eventually got my money back as he wouldn’t let me take the original tablet (Samsung) Next visit I was looking for a deal on a GoPro ,was advised to contact a guy in San Eugenio ,Took a few days to get hold of the expert bargain man .He tried to sell me a piece of tat for 1000e ,The kind of camera you get at the local petrol station for 20 quid .He ended up offering me it for 80e .My words were ,If you think I’m going to deal with a C that tries to rip a 1000e from me then you have another thing coming ,He then chased me down the mall shouting ,Ok ,give me 50 😂😂
Thanks kev brill video as usual we were approached last year my friend knew straight away it was a scam but i was nearly fooled but realised and just said no thankyou n walked away. wouldnt put me off teneriffe its a lovely place hoping to get there in may june cant wait
Had the same scam tried on us on in Los Cristianos but luckily my wife had the same tablet,The guy then tried to sell us an apartment room for the following year!good deposit he kept saying!!called him a scammer also he didn’t like the word no!! Keep the good work up Kevin .
I wanted a polarised lens filter from one of those electronic shops in that shopping centre, the price was fair and I could tell it worked by blocking the reflection in the glass counter. The strange bit came when they tried to hard sell it to me, (despite me telling them I wanted it regardless) They took a photo with a camera from their window display through the filter I wanted then proceeded to show me the with and without. They only took one photo and just swapped between s-video and component inputs on the TV with some adaptors under the desk. Bizarre! That's when they reckoned I needed the lens they were using on the demo camera, an old Nikon telephoto of some sort. It was pretty obvious it was either refurbished or simply second hand. The Canon hanging over my shoulder wasn't a big enough clue to them I was going to say no. Most of the garbage in their window displays is old or used. Just don't entertain any electronic shops there OR have some common sense.
Lanzarote.. We have had the same, the owners (not Spanish) got very nasty & actually locked hubs inside the shop for about 15 mins when he pointed out the cam they were pushing on him was much older & different model.! Luckily I was outside & aware, had my mobile & shouted I had called police (I hadn't) .. It worked & they eventually let him out. Thank you for highlighting this.
Just got back from Tenerife. I stayed in the Parque Santiago 3 & on my first full day, I was approached by a man from an electrical shop nearby & was told he was buying the Parque Santiago 3 & I could get a week's stay there for 92 euros. It was with great difficulty I was able to get away & avoided walking past that shop for the rest of my stay there. Even f I hadn't seen this video before I flew out there I would have never believed a word he said. This just confirmed the scam.
We’ve been to Tenerife loads of times and yes I know the guy he is a bloody nuisance, years ago it was time share that was a nuisance but now it’s him. We went last August and had the pleasure of being harassed by this guy i said to him why would I want to know about his apartments I am already in accommodation in the end I told him to f??k off. These people spoil your holidays as you want to look in the shops but they just don’t leave you alone.😊
If your solo traveling, land in the south airport and stay at a hostel called Los amigos hostel. It's amazing and you'll have incredible experiences with all the interesting people that pass by there! There's no pick pockets down there too !
Also Kevin the same shops PS3 electrical … offer exchange rates at 2 points Above Bank Rate just to get you in … this would mean they lose money every time they exchange your money!!!! Nice to see you back .. we are back August…
Yes they do Raymundo y Patricia I went there to change some English money in October and he tried his best to sell me something, I won’t go there again it’s not worth the hassle for a few euros
My inlaws last year bought an electrical item from a shop your on about. They thought great, got home and discovered that instead of the 40 euros they paid, Receipt for 40 euros, they had actually taken 4000 euros from their account, the scamming bar stewards. They phoned their bank up and within 2 hours they had the full 4000 euros back into their account. . So like you say, they must do this all the time. We always stop at the Parque la Paz, great hotel.
It’s the guy with the euro sign offering €1.18 when everyone at the min is €1.10 if you point at the sign he will quickly approach you, the same as last year
We were approached by a guy nearer the roundabout offering a week's accommodation in an apartment for 99 euros. I don't think it was Parque Santiago as he was pointing across the road. If a deal sounds too good to be true, It generally is!!! We just kept on walking but he was at us every day we walked past.
Hi Kevin, really loved the Las Vegas videos. I always fancied going there, but the high prices have put me off. I would need to remortgage the house to get there. Keep up the good work. Jim and Janice from irvine
yes and yes Kevin Anne as normal being gullible thought it was great I was outside as I don't do these places. Then he got quite aggressive as she said she wasn't interested. Then I got involved !!!!!!!!!.I think he even said he had a colleague in Glasgow that could help with the booking
We just come back last Monday from a weekend break and although it never happened there we did have a wee Pakistani guy come out of a shop and hit us with patter about having shops in sauchiehall Street then hit us with the Samsung tablet bit which we obviously patched. This was up around the casino area towards Costa Adeje so be aware of those scams up that area as well.
It is a pain, but in someway part of the experience. When we were there in December my funniest interaction was: African Guy: "Do you want some gear?", Me:"Sorry". AG:"Cocaine?", Me:"No Thanks", AG.. looks around grabs his box of sunglasses "want to buy some sunglasses?" We both laughed :)
I was approached a couple of weeks ago around this area. He said I have a code for you. I assumed it was something to do with the fact I had the HRC t-shirt on. I just walked away. The following day different t-shirts on and I moved across the road going back to my hotel.
Same Asian fellow kept pestering us every time we walked past Saying you can have the apartment over the road ( by the taxi rank )for €99 a week I just laughed in his face and kept walking
Yes we were stopped by the guy offering you an apt.then into the shop and we couldnt get away. Tablets etc . I made up a story that our friends were waiting outside and literally walked up to two people and said Hi i need to get away from these guys pretend u know me.
Never be afraid to just walk away anytime , no words , just go , they are rude people they do not deserve common courtesy ,they have no claim on your time
Its been going on for over 40 years , first time share touts , then it was discount block bookings of holidays etc , that area is renowned for it & no matter how many times people are told , they still go with them & end up with their bank accounts emptied, the front at Los Christianos is exactly the same, once they get you they will keep you talking for hours until the only way to escape is give them your card ,with the promise you can cancel , well you can't your money has already gone, we used to a restaurant called The Montana opposite the Siesta Hotel on Tuesday afternoons their bosses would take over the restaurant & treat them all to an all expenses paid slap up , more wine & food than you could shake a stick at, That is your money paying for it lol
This happens wherever there’s electrical shops, eg there at all the Santiago‘s one , two, three and four, also at puerto colon, upstairs and down stairs, especially walking past the blue cactus bar towards Fanabe and in Fanabe itself. Tim LWMST has done a vlog about a man who lost thousands. I’ve been coming here for 34 years and lived here for 5 years in the 90‘s and have been approached by everyone of them. It was really bad during lockdown when everyone of them were desperate for money and saying they actually owned hotels and apartment complex‘s😂😂😂😂
Hello, you say you have been going there for 34 yrs, what is the weather like in our winter months? I don’t like boiling hot weather, so when is the best time to visit? And is it a good family resort? What is the name of the area you talk about, I heard the Scotsman saying two, three ,and four ? What does that mean ? Thanking you in advance xx seren
@@serenlovelady1332 The weather in winter is just like a hot British summer but from June to the end of August it is really hot and can be uncomfortable if you don’t like it too hot. One , two, three and four refer to Parque Santiago apartment complexes. They all have shops/shopping arcades near them and are very popular and sell out quickly. Everywhere is child friendly and most of the hotels have kids clubs to entertain the youngsters during the day/ early evenings, but it is expensive as a family to stay in an hotel. I use air b&b to book accommodation because it advertises privately owned apartments and villa’s and they are equipped with everything you have at home so meal preparation etc is easy and keeps costs down. If using air b&b always conduct business through the official site and don’t be tempted to send money by bank transfer if they offer cheaper deals. Also where possible use a credit card to pay for any amounts over £100 because you have the added protection of section 75 of the consumer credit act which makes the credit card company legally responsible for purchase‘s that go wrong so you won’t loose money. That should set your mind at ease and Tenerife is a beautiful island but remember even though it’s a lovely place keep your wit’s about you and don’t buy anything electrical/ electronic or that looks a bargain that’s to good to be true because it probably is. Have a lovely holiday
Hi mate, 6.10 / 6.15 you actually have the Guy and his son in your video there waiting to pounce black and white shirts! We know them well they own a shop further down Rich something! We watch them do this every year now
This happened to my friend in Gran Canaria .. asian guy rolled the metal shutter down, on his shop doorway, when she refused to pay for a tablet she was looking at . Be careful folks and learn to say "No thanks" so they know that you mean it .
My favourite trick to keep the touts away is to pretend to be on the phone. I do love this part of the 'rife. Is the alehop shop still down the end? My wife loves that.
Its the small electrical shop next to parque sanitiago 3 overlooking the road. Tried so sell me a cheap apartment for a week and then a sony tablet for 40e. Beware.
I know you always show good value of places to stay . I think it’s time for your channel to try out the 5 star hotels on the island . Would be something different, only an idea mate 👍
I holidayed in Malta with an ex girlfriend and the 'timeshare' touts invite you to come into a hotel where with the incentive of free booze/cigarettes they will attempt to shmooze you into signing on the dotted line...DON"T! EVER.
This is hilarious! I lived there, when all that was called "El Desierto" (the Desert) between Cristianos and LA! That's where FC Marino had their Stadium!......It took 45mins to walk between the two resorts! There were a few scammers back then, but you could spot them a mile off! Used to tell them to "Bete a la Mierda!"
He's been at it for years, I got sucked in 6 or 7 years ago but I was highly suspicious when he kept dropping the price to try to get me to buy. He went rom $120 down to $40, Then I got the apartment across the road scam luckily I chased him, I don't know if it's the guy in your video outside a shop, but he was Asian.
Theres one on the corner that was a Spar below Friends bar is at the same trick . Offered us an apartment above his shop .He got aggressive when we said no thanks
Never part with cash until product is in your hands and you're happy with it. This is something Brits fail to understand as they think the whole world is the same as living in their mundane cul-de-sac.
Back in the 80s, RayBan Wayfarer sunglasses were all the rage again. They were really expensive in the UK but back then the Canaries were duty free on such goods so could be had for alot cheaper. These shops, often run by Indians, did their very best to sell fake RayBans, they were cunning little barstewards, but if you were persistent enough and knew what to look for on the genuine article, you could get a genuine pair for about half the price.
I know the electrical shop. They told me they had a place in Princes Square in Glasgow. They brought the prices of iPads to 18 euros. Very annoying people
Ah the old scam of trying to ingratiate with some familiar local knowledge from home . Guy tried that one in Crete ,His sister had a Greek restaurant on George Sq in Glasgow .I played along and eventually talked him into the exact location on the corner at Queen St .I said I had been there and would sometimes go for lunch on business trips ,He was so pleased ,I then pointed to my partner and said ,She doesn’t like me going to Greggs ya lying P 😂
It's seems a decent price. You can upgrade to All Inclusive at the Sol Arona when you arrive for not much more so book self catering then upgrade out there. Even if you prefer to eat out for the extra £150 approxfor the week I think its worth it.
I know the exact shop and guys you're talking about,,,and an encounter with them last September they were offering me an appertment across the road from the shop and also the tablet ,,, saw through them straight away but did have a bit of a job getting shot off them ,won't be so polite next time
We were asked to book accommodation and offered an iPad in the tobacco shop there Bengali type guys I told him we were warned on the plane not to buy from them he was highly indignant
I used to go regular until I nearly got beat up by the scratch card gangs for warning folk it was a scam..Didn’t like the vibes in the end and would never go back I’ll stick with Cyprus cheers 👍
Yes Kevin I was in a shop in adeje to buy a pair if shoes & was offered samsung tablet then apartment in royal garden las americas to rent totally bombarded I left without the shoes
Tenerife is very dangerous place after dark when the muggers come out. It’s mainly the black girls so please be careful as last week we heard of at least 40 people being mugged 🙈🙈

Public Service, thank you Kevin.
Thanks for highlighting this scam Kevin We have been approached on several occasions & made it uncomfortable to go into some shops as these scammers are so persistent We never fell for it & just walked away saying no but unfortunately some people have been caught out xx👍👍
Yip they will always get people unfortunately
OM electronics is a fake electronics store they are selling fake items they are the scammers as people are saying on google reviews on google maps OM electronics is a FAKE store the whole store is a scam maybe that's the store where the guy goes out of
Fair play Kevin, no harm in reminding people of potential scams so everyone listen and tell the feckers to FOFF 🤣👍👍

We were going to book a holiday in Tenerife so glad I watched this thank you were both nearly 80 so obviously on a budget ❤️🏴🏴🏴
Thanks for that info Kevin, sad that people get caught out like that, good to know about this guy 👍
mostly thick northerners fall for scams the Spanish can tell them flared trousers and tank tops smoking tattoos
The electrical shops in the canaries are terrible. They are best avoided.
Correct ,Bought a cracking tablet for 80e a few years back ,Spent 30mins in the shop waiting for it ,Apparently they were printing the 300page manual for me ,It was so complicated ,There were other sub standard things with this Samsung tablet .He then tried to get me to upgrade another 200 for this all singing all dancing piece of crap .I eventually got my money back as he wouldn’t let me take the original tablet (Samsung)
Next visit I was looking for a deal on a GoPro ,was advised to contact a guy in San Eugenio ,Took a few days to get hold of the expert bargain man .He tried to sell me a piece of tat for 1000e ,The kind of camera you get at the local petrol station for 20 quid .He ended up offering me it for 80e .My words were ,If you think I’m going to deal with a C that tries to rip a 1000e from me then you have another thing coming ,He then chased me down the mall shouting ,Ok ,give me 50 😂😂

PS3 & PS4 have limited bookings now and I don’t think you can book until November now. They are currently doing most of their apartments up now

I never go in camera shops anymore abroad or even look in the window. For that reason.

I got done in that electrical shop for a gameboy.!.....
Hi mate, 6.10 / 6.15 you actually have the Guy and his son in your video there waiting to pounce black and white shirts! We know them well they own a shop further down Rich something! We watch them do this every year now
Hope this video helps tell people 300k views so far !
Great advice Kev thamks
This happened to my friend in Gran Canaria .. asian guy rolled the metal shutter down, on his shop doorway, when she refused to pay for a tablet she was looking at .
Be careful folks and learn to say "No thanks" so they know that you mean it .
My favourite trick to keep the touts away is to pretend to be on the phone.
I do love this part of the 'rife.
Is the alehop shop still down the end? My wife loves that.
Yes it is. I just bought something from there a few days ago.
Its the small electrical shop next to parque sanitiago 3 overlooking the road. Tried so sell me a cheap apartment for a week and then a sony tablet for 40e. Beware.
Red light spells danger. I know the guy who does it. Hes a bloody rascal. Tryed selling me a blow up do doll for 10 euro.
You are such a nice guy Kevin
Thanks
He’s Scottish, it’s just a front! 😉
We’ve had someone approach us in the past there, we just say we own our apartment (not) so now we always walk on the other side. They are a nuisance.
I know you always show good value of places to stay . I think it’s time for your channel to try out the 5 star hotels on the island . Would be something different, only an idea mate 👍
Maybe one day!
@@ScotsmaninTenerife hoots man
I was approached on two separate occasions last month. For a place opposite Santiago
Avoid
I had this experience in Los Cristianos last week a shop on the sea front is doing the same thing
wow not seen it there before
Theres one on the corner that was a Spar below Friends bar is at the same trick . Offered us an apartment above his shop .He got aggressive when we said no thanks
Good info
Its true, I've seen them approaching people with bad intent many many times.
Thank you I’m visiting here in August 👍🏻
I lived and worked in Tenerife I was a body guard for John Palmer who payed well RIP John it was good times
Interesting Jack did he ever discuss Brinks mat with you ?
I got offered tablet and I quickly declined stating that it was far too sweet for me.....only jocks will get this! 🤣🤣🤣
Lol
sweatys on tour good luck 4 eu ros
Never part with cash until product is in your hands and you're happy with it. This is something Brits fail to understand as they think the whole world is the same as living in their mundane cul-de-sac.
Back in the 80s, RayBan Wayfarer sunglasses were all the rage again. They were really expensive in the UK but back then the Canaries were duty free on such goods so could be had for alot cheaper. These shops, often run by Indians, did their very best to sell fake RayBans, they were cunning little barstewards, but if you were persistent enough and knew what to look for on the genuine article, you could get a genuine pair for about half the price.
yes, 2 weeks ago when I was there with my dad, he bugged us every day to try sell us a week in his apartment
Yip annoying hope this video warns people
The Spanish hero Kev tks pal.
Thanks for letting me know
I know the electrical shop. They told me they had a place in Princes Square in Glasgow. They brought the prices of iPads to 18 euros. Very annoying people
Yip a scam
Ah the old scam of trying to ingratiate with some familiar local knowledge from home .
Guy tried that one in Crete ,His sister had a Greek restaurant on George Sq in Glasgow .I played along and eventually talked him into the exact location on the corner at Queen St .I said I had been there and would sometimes go for lunch on business trips ,He was so pleased ,I then pointed to my partner and said ,She doesn’t like me going to Greggs ya lying P 😂
Thanks Kevin, Is Ann with you ?
Afraid not
Tenerife always seems to be cloudy
rarely but you get it in jan and feb
Do not go onto the beach at night. I got mugged there by about five blokes there a few years ago
Just subscribed cheers mate
Another great video Kev
Thanks 👍
I hated that island went twice each time felt the exact same way couldn't wait for the holiday to end
Would you pay just under £800 for B&B Sol Arona or Tenerife Sur in Los Cristianos for 1 week? That inclues B&B,Flights,Hotel!
It's seems a decent price. You can upgrade to All Inclusive at the Sol Arona when you arrive for not much more so book self catering then upgrade out there. Even if you prefer to eat out for the extra £150 approxfor the week I think its worth it.
not if offered by the looky looky man lmao 😂😂😂
did they mention a free tablet haha
No don't rate them
Nice one ,Think he would only pester me Once .
Are you gonna do a Dublin trip
Maybe one dayer
Cool looking place to visit.
That guy is just a pest. He has been doing it every year. We just walk past him
Those dark clouds 😮
If you
can speak Spanish you don't get tricked and avoid areas like las Americas ,,,
Nice promo film for the area though!
Haven't been to Tenerife since 1990. it looks so commercial now and more like Benidorm.
definitely cheapest of the canaries aswell these days
Hi Kev. Is the Parque Santiago 3 and 3 apartments please?
yip self catering
Great advise 🙏
Looks like paradise !
I used to go regular until I nearly got beat up by the scratch card gangs for warning folk it was a scam..Didn’t like the vibes in the end and would never go back I’ll stick with Cyprus cheers 👍
Sorry to hear that I have never seen them , where would u recommend in Cyprus.
@@ScotsmaninTenerife a place called protaris is a nice resort..👍
Dn't go to the tourists areas full off English ... find locals
Yes Kevin I was in a shop in adeje to buy a pair if shoes & was offered samsung tablet then apartment in royal garden las americas to rent totally bombarded I left without the shoes
Good move just leave
Tenerife is very dangerous place after dark when the muggers come out. It’s mainly the black girls so please be careful as last week we heard of at least 40 people being mugged 🙈🙈
Tried to sell me a tablet, I said no thanks, my son works in an Apple shop so,he gets me any tablets or phones I need.
I'll never go back to Tenerife, been 3 times and always something has gone off. You walk anywhere without someone bugging you👎🏽
you're too sensitive mate, that's happening everywhere even in California. People trying to sell stuff, make you listen to their mixtape or hustle
@@trut52 mate I've got many a t-shirt trust me,but I don't go on holiday to fight off scammers and robbers lol.
Piece 🙌🏽
Tenerife ,pissing people off for 40 years !
