  • I'm fed up with all these outrageous brand trips and PR gifts. Seriously, like, how can we trust any influencer knowing all these perks they get from a partnership?

I know I'm just one person, but influencers have the opposite of the intended effect on me. I generally don't trust influencers, and seeing brands cater to them severely cheapens the brand to me.

It really puts me off a brand when I see them spending so much spoiling these people. It’s me as a customer that’s paying for it. I know they want to get the item out there but showing off isn’t the way for me

A Birkin is definitely over the top for a gift from a brand. How could this influencer not feel obligated to the brand? I’m skeptical of brand trips and lately, I’ve even become skeptical about sponsored content. I see so many influencers try to convince their followers that they’re into a brand that does not align with the influencer’s style or values. I see them as sellouts so anything they promote becomes suspect to me.

I can't imagine blindly trusting ANY ''influencer." If you've done your research and understand how they make money, that alone should give you pause. Knowledge is power. We have to be savvy about how all this works if we want honest, beneficial information that helps us make purchasing decisions.

Absolutely. If their job is to promote products, then our job is to make our own research and decide for ourselves.

I become skeptical and highly suspicious once I start seeing the influencer significantly upgrading their home or apartment, especially if they live in expensive cities such as London or New York (Karen Brit Chick, Lizzy Hadfield). Another red flag is when I see husband/wife/partner quitting his/her job to join the 'business' (Emma Hill). I've lived in expensive cities my entire life and with the current housing crisis, imagine the dough they must be making to afford this.

Brand gifts and trips (substantial in particular), absolutely make them feel “obligated” to give more favorable reviews. There are a few reviews type people I like watching that are more honest in a few different interests. However I’m mostly watching small creators that have thoughtful care put into their content (low/pr with no obligation to praise or no sponsorships).

black Birkin bag, which was the first good choice I ever made. I can afford a Kelly bag in any color. If I were 25, I'd probably buy it. But now I consciously don't want to associate with a woman who has a Kelly and a Birkin. I have no interest in spending $40k on a bag (a piece of leather + labor = up to $1000) Imagine spending $39k on this brand. Totally unnecessary.

At this day and age most influencers got bought by brands whether by expensive gifts or lavish PR even the people with the best intentions would be swayed at one point so the followers should take the reviews with grain of salt and watch for entertainment purposes

Thank God for influencer like you. I love your content. We have enough influencers telling us what the company want us to here instead of the truth for trips, merchandise and bucks. I was watch an influencer who had received a wig. She was so disappointed on the quality of the hair she didn't even wear it even though she installed it. She said she was very dissatisfied with the product and it wasn't as good as the last wig they sent her. Her honesty surprised me.

I'm very new to this world so I don't get a lot of sponsorships anyways. But I try my best to share my genuine thoughts no matter what. And I hope I can preserve my integrity even if I get millions of followers one day. Thank you so much for your support and trust, I highly appreciate it :)

Not related to influencers in particular but I noticed recently that I sometimes receive ads with famous people not as good as with unknown faces. It’s because I don’t have an opinion about these models yet and can relate easier than with some super rich celebrity.

I’ll be more impressed when a brand buys an influencer a house. 😂😂 this has been going on with magazine editors and staff for decades, nothing new except people with no taste show us online. No they have been bought, and I don’t care what influencers think about products because we are not the same genetics. I’ll do my own research.

Tirtir is a Korean beauty brand but I am studying in Korea but never even heard of it before until these influencers introduced this brand

@@perspectiveofme Actually the biggest brand here is Amorepacific which owns brands like Laneige,Innisfree,Primera etc and it owns about 20 plus brands….I think tirtir got some attention because they had darker shades but actually you can make your custom cushion at Laneige too which has 40 shades

I don't follow influencers, this type of content where they show off their lavish trips and gifts would turn me off, if I watch it. I would avoid purchasing from that brand sponsoring, as I would question why they spend so much on marketing, as if the product is not good enough to stand out.

Mikayla was gifted a Kelly bag not a birkin - but that still doesn't make it any better. Not sure why they are called influencers as they have never influenced anything for me
