This video was super helpful. Shortcuts wasn't showing up for me, even when I went back and forth between the day and week view. But, once I created the automations you described, I was able to go back in, see the shortcuts in the notifications, and turn them off. Just commenting for anyone else who can't see their shortcut notifications...

At first I actually didn’t believe that this was going to work but it really does! Now I don’t have to use those weird website’s and apps. Thank you so so much this very helpful!!!
It worked thank you !! The assistive touch step plays a huge role. Also for anyone who doesn’t get shortcut app in the first part, I suggest opening the actual app and playing with it like leave it on for a few minutes even if you’re doing nothing on it. That way it’ll record down your time using shortcuts app in the “screen time”! As others have mentioned, a quick way to do this is to first do the automations since you’re using the shortcuts app.
What is the assistive touch and number actually doing?
Brooo tysm, as soon as I updated to iOS 15 I was constantly getting the shortcut banner notification even tho I disabled it through Screen Time. You helped me a lot thx :D

How can i still get that red notification indicator on apps? When I theme an icon for example a message I don’t get that red 1 on the edge of the icon ..

Yes! I’d love to still have a red number for unread texts!
Those are called Badges and they won't appear on custom icons. Sorry. Maybe if enough people send a request to Apple for this feature we might see it in the future.

Ah man.... I was shying away from the iPhone because of some of the little things and this was the biggest. Guess the 12 Pro Max is now in my future.

The biggest problem I have is that Shortcuts is NOT listed as a notification under Screen Time, so I can't turn them off there. I'm running 14.4.2 and no matter what day I swipe to, Shortcuts don't show in the list. Have you heard of this?
I have the same problem! I keep going back and checking and even though I'm getting dozens of notification banners from my shortcuts every day, it's not showing up under notifications for Screen Time no matter what day or time I choose.

Ohmygod you are a life saver! I’ve finally set up my whole home screen and the banners annoyed me so much but this hack is fantastic!!
So my phone does a banner that isn’t technically a notification (according to screen time analysis) and it says Open App 1 | Shortcuts . Every time I open an app via a custom shortcut I made and I cannot get it to go away using anything I’ve watched. iOS 15.5 . Any suggestions are greatly appreciated
Yes i had same problem. Make a new shortcut and make it give you a notification. I just had it say “hello” when I pressed the button and then it showed up in notifications on screen time!

@@cohencowley7888 just do exactally what he says in the video, the actual pop ups that happen when you open an app are not shortcut notification, you have to get a notif from the short cut app, if you follow the video it works perfectly.

Hi! Loved the video! Question how can I receive notification on my new customized shortcuts?! For example, my messages. When I receive a message I see the banner notification but how come my new shortcut icon does not display any née messages until I clink into the app. PLEASE HELP

Ok so every single one of these types of videos just assumes it’ll be there for you; it’s not there. Do the banner alerts for the custom icon applications not count as a notification? How do you force the shortcuts app to send a notification so it WILL appear? No one ever answers this.
I was trying to get a notification to appear and figured out that it only counts as a notification if there is a banner when running an automation
I’m not sure if you still need this, but you have to go to shortcuts and press the plus sign. Press add action and then press show notification.(if you can’t find it, search up show notification instead). Then you press the three dots in the upper right corner. You press add to Home Screen. And then you add.
I turned them off and I still get them

this worked for me, for about an hour. they started showing back up. is there a way to fix it
Any tips on how to stop the camera freezing when opening? I followed your tutorial (thank you) and all my banners have stopped appearing. But my biggest frustration with custom icons is when opening the camera app, it freezes for a moment before focusing and allowing you to use it. For me, that split second could cost a photo op! When the banner popped up I would swipe it away as fast as possible and camera would start being functional. Now even without the banner there is a pause so I mainly open my camera from the pull down notifications screen/control centre and that way I can use it immediately. Any tips are greatly appreciated!
