Litanies was composed by Jehan Paul Alain, a French organist, composer and soldier
Litanies was composed in 1937 and is his most famous work, prefaced with the text “When, in its distress, the Christian soul can find no more words to invoke God's mercy, it repeats endlessly the same litany....for reason has reached its limit; only faith can take one further...”
The Organ Solo was performed by Tópé Olágúnjú ‪@OlagunjuTope‬ , a Nigerian organist, music conductor, choir trainer, and the Director of Music/Organist at the Emmanuel Chapel Methodist Church Nigeria, Ikoyi.
This piece was performed on the Altus Klass Virtual Pipe Organ with the 3 manual Cavaille- Coll sample set at Metz Cathedral, Notre-Dame, at Emmanuel Chapel Methodist Church’s 2024 Easter concert, to depict the great earthquake that happened at Joseph’s grave when Jesus Christ rose.
