    Made jello cooked butterscotch pudding tonight. Flavor was so full and intense. Instant is very good ,but cooked is the Bomb! I cooked stirring constantly till it came to a boil then took off heat and kept stirring for a couple more min. Put in small bowls cooled for 2 or 3 min. Covered with plastic wrap,laying on surface of pudding and put in refrigerator for an hour. A little more work but really worth it.

      Sounds great! I never tried the Jello Instant pudding, we always ended up buying the Jello Cook and Serve pudding instead because for us, it is tried-and-true mix, more work, but well worth it.

    For a richer tasting pudding, use chocolate whole milk instead of white milk. Comes out like chocolate mousse. Delicious.

    You can also microwave 8 mins, stirring every 2. Be careful last 2 minutes not to spill as it thickens

    I always end up burning the bottom of the pan, so I came online to find a video on how to make chocolate pudding. Out of the dozens and dozens of tutorials and videos this is the ONLY one that is for COOKING instead of instant. But it sure would have been nice if you'd showed us what your oven setting was!!!! High? Medium? Grrrrr....

    • @Homeycircle
      @Homeycircle  7 років тому +5

      our burner was set to around medium heat, but you need to constantly stir the bottom once it starts to heat or boil to prevent burning the pan.

      Right! I did that tonight and made perfect pudding! Cheers!

      I just put the milk and pudding mix into an 8 cup measuring cup (Pyrex) and cook it in the microwave. Cook on high for 6 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes. It takes less time, is unlikely to scorch and doesn't heat up the kitchen as much.

    • @Homeycircle

      You usually turn-on the flame once the milk and pudding powder are all mixed together, continue stirring while cooking to avoid burning the bottom of the pan. Yes, you put the pudding in the refrigerator after putting them in containers or molds and let them set for hours.

    Jello jigglers are made from the box gelatine, not pudding. As a child, my sister and I would make the chocolate jello cooked pudding all the time until I learned that I only needed to use cornstarch as the base for homemade pudding. I am surprised that people in the comment section don't realize what temp heat the milk to prevent it from curdling and then add in the pudding packet. It should start on a low-medium heat setting.

    What temp u put the stove on?

    • @Homeycircle
      @Homeycircle  9 років тому +2

      in between high to medium trying to boil the milk, once boiling I turned it down to medium heat, and constant stirring so that you don't burn the bottom, because they burn really quick

    • @Homeycircle
      @Homeycircle  3 роки тому

      Hi, I never tried evaporated milk, so I cannot recommend. I suggest using fresh milk for this recipe. There are different sizes (varies by ounces) Jello pudding, so that depends what box you purchased.

    how many cups of milk?
    how many boxes?

    • @Homeycircle
      @Homeycircle  8 років тому

      how many boxes of Jello depends how many you want to make, you can store them in small containers and refrigerate. We usually have them in the ref for 2-4 days. The Jello powder and milk ratio is stated in the box / packaging. There are different sizes of box, depending on which size you buy.

    How long do you cook it after it starts to boil?

    • @Homeycircle
      @Homeycircle  Рік тому +4

      I don't have specific time duration, I usually just stir the milk and pudding mixture constantly until there it starts to thicken, but not too thick because it will be hard to pour them in the mold container. It will continue to thicken as it cools.

    If I don't have chocolate jello powder can I use cocoa powder instead?

    • @Homeycircle
      @Homeycircle  8 років тому +1

      I believe that it will be missing one critical ingredient that will firm the mixture ... My thoughts are, although I never personally tried doing this from scratch, but if you do want to experiment using the cocoa powder and milk, you might need some kind of a gelatin mix that will help firm the mixture once chilled ..

      use coca, cornstarch, sugar and a egg yolk. mix the yolk and sugar and cornstarch together. Add in the coca add hot milk in while stirring slowly. after it gets thick, let it cool for a day or two, and there you have some good chocolate pudding!

    • @Homeycircle
      @Homeycircle  Рік тому

      I am using the Jello Cook-and-Serve pudding, so it needs to be cook to prepare it. But they also have the Jello Instant Pudding, which doesn't need cooking, I think you just need to whisk the pudding mix with cold milk. Just make sure that you bought the right type of pudding at the store, it is usually indicated in the packaging what type, Instant pudding or Cook-and-Serve pudding.

      are you asking if you can make this recipe a day before you will actually eat it? yes! that's what usually we do with this recipe .. we make few batches of this recipe, put them in serving-size containers, put them in the refrigerator to chill, and then grab them to ready-to-eat the following day, or the day after.
