Not only was Randy done, but I think Bray was as well. I think with the crappy booking black hole Vince put him into and then losing his best friend back in December of that past year, Bray was just done. I really don't even think he wanted to do this.
I agree, I have a feeling that both Randy and Bray were just done with it after Vince told them what he wanted. I think it especially affected them when they saw the box, because no matter how bad it looked that isn't something that you're going to whip up in a couple hours not with the size and painting they had to do on it. I think Vince had it all planned including the ending much earlier he just didn't tell Bray or Randy because he didn't want to give them time to come up with any counter arguments against this.
@@jormungaurd Just one of infinite reasons to be happy that Vince is gone now. Unfortunately its too late for Bray to reap the benefits :( RIP Windham Rotunda
To those who don't know, The Fiend's "Tunnel of Transformation" was originally used for the Weekend's Super Bowl Halftime Show, which was preformed several days before this Wrestlemania.
You know what is even worse about that match? It was april 2021, so only 4 months after Brodie Lee passed away. Bray was in bad place mentally then and they did that to him
Another great episode! Tempest saying "Hey look it's the Big Box Man" killed me hahaha. 2021 was when I stopped watching wrestling really. Empty arena era was tiring, Bayley not having anything to do AT ALL at Mania was annoying, everything just culminated in me ending my weekly wrestling viewing until Triple H took over.
There really are a lot of reasons for either this or Zombies to go over the other. A lot of great points from all three lads. But thinking about it more, I think I might have personally put this at the top. I always loved the Fiend and rooted for him. Even after Hell in a Cell 2019 and Super Showdown 2020, I still had faith in Bray to bring it back and always wanted to see what the Fiend was doing. After this loss to Randy, I couldn't have cared less about the Fiend. More than any bad Bray match, this one killed the character for me.
You know what the most horrifying thing about this match is: It's not even the worst match between these two. I would argue the 'House of Horrors' match at Payback 2017, with the f*cking haunted tractor and Jinder Mahal being there and the dirty fridge and the doll heads and Bray screaming "Welcome to hell" to Randy (because subtly is something that Vince has no concept of), is SO MUCH WORST, and so much longer. Also for some reason its divided into two parts and just has Seth Rollins vs Samoa Joe randomly shoved in-between both halves of the match. Also it ends with f*cking Jinder standing tall. Just, just don't know.
Ah yes, the one that not only got _immediately_ inducted into WrestleCrap, even though they have a rule of waiting one year to "see where it goes", but also was immediately awarded their Gooker Award, because they thought that there could not be anything worse the rest of the year (and then Jinder's reign happened).

You've GOT to do the Tag Team elimination chamber, where they were BREAKING UP PINFALLS IN AN ELIMINATION MATCH, and the Intercontinental Elimination chamber, where Mark Henry got out of his cell early and the match devolved into Ziggler openly calling out spots like TWICE

The problem with a character like that is that he's only really got two types of matches--either he's an invincible monster (destroying other wrestlers and making them look like scaredey-cats) or he's losing, destroying the mystique and making everyone else who lost to the monster look a bit dumb.
@@paulgibbon5991 There is a potential third type of match, where the monster battles themselves. Sounds weird, but from the start Bray showed he had a weakness; the only reason the fiend came out was to "heal" Bray's past traumas by unleashing on everyone that wronged him in the past. Recall the "Man in the woods" story, from YEARS ago. Have Bray fight the Fiend. Not Bray vs the Fiend in a 1 on 1, but some opponent or situation that would prove Bray doesn't need the Fiend, exploiting that weakness. Everyone Bray came across wronged him, so have him feud with someone that helped him. Bray remembers they helped him, but The fiend wants Bray to destroy them because its a weakness. To me, Fiend vs Orton was a sign that Vince didn't really know what he was doing anymore... but it wasn't the only bad thing at WM37. This was the Mania where AJ and Omos beat New Day for the tag titles. This was the show with the Nigerian Drum Fight that cost Big E his Intercontinental run. Natalya and Tamina won a tag title shot on night one and then got stomped by Baszler and Jax on night 2. This was the first Mania to feature Logan Paul. This fight was just one of many mistakes that happened at the time. In contrast, the Zombies match was the only bad match on the Backlash card.
This match was way longer than I remember it being. I remembered enjoying it at the time (until the ending of course) but watching this back, I think I was just excited to see the Fiend again. You know, until this match killed my excitement of ever seeing him again.

The closest thought i have is that Sister Abigail possessed bliss and looked down on the fiend which was a disappointing result to Bray Wyatt's journey twisting fate towards Orton. Thus screwing the Fiend out of returning to the world by taking away his victory and his servant in one swift motion. I say closest because if you made Brays story a video game it in my opinion almost requires as much research as FNAF to understand.

Thank you so much for making me watch that. Hhhmmmm I'm split on this and the zombies - but there's something about the zombies that's just so hilariously bad whereas Fiend Orton is just so boring and an awful culmination and clear example of WWE not giving a sh*t.
A few suggestions for Worst Match Ever: •The Miz vs John Cena Wrestlemania 27 •DX vs The Brothers of Destruction Crown Jewel 2018 •Kofi Kingston vs Brock Lesnar Smackdown October 4th 2019 • Undertaker vs Giant Gonzalez Wrestlemania 9 • Sting Vs Jeff Hardy Victory Road 2011
Can I just say that I like this feature - videos are great. But can you take out the part in the intro where Luke says he loves bad wrestling. It’s plainly obvious he doesn’t enjoy bad wrestling hence his anger during all these videos so far
Saw a video from WWE on UA-cam posted yesterday that ranks this fiend entrance as No.6 of best entrances in WrestleMania history?!? As a fan of Brays character, I think his debut entrance against Finn was my all time favorite. This one falls a bit far from the mark in my book. Shame that “this” was the end of the fiend.
My new suggestions: WWE: Swamp fight Extreme Rules Horror show TNA: Six Sides of Steel Blindfold Match WCW: Hulk Hogan Vs The Giant Halloween Havoc 1995
I started to get on the Bray bandwagon until 'that' HIAC match. I lost all interest at that point, and haven't cared since. That includes his current run.. or lack thereof.
I think this may have been the hardest choice this series may have for a good while. I don't think something on this show deserved a tie more, but I will make one final point that I don't remember being made or at least as focused on. It is not just the end of a multi month program between some top talent at WrestleMania. This is the end of The Fiend and for a long time this was the end of Bray Wyatt in WWE. This was going to be the legacy of one of the most creatively promising performers in so many years. Could you image if he had retired after this match, just put up his boots for The Fiend vs Randy Orton. I don't know if it pushes it above zombies, but it does make me look at it a bit differently.
I’m gonna keep suggesting Hollywood Hogan vs The Warrior from Halloween Havoc 1998 until I at least know whether it’s already present in the cavalcade of crapness 😂

Thank you so much for making me watch that. Hhhmmmm I'm split on this and the zombies - but there's something about the zombies that's just so hilariously bad whereas Fiend Orton is just so boring and an awful culmination and clear example of WWE not giving a sh*t.
A few suggestions for Worst Match Ever:
•The Miz vs John Cena Wrestlemania 27
•DX vs The Brothers of Destruction
Crown Jewel 2018
•Kofi Kingston vs Brock Lesnar
Smackdown October 4th 2019
• Undertaker vs Giant Gonzalez Wrestlemania 9
• Sting Vs Jeff Hardy Victory Road 2011
Can I just say that I like this feature - videos are great. But can you take out the part in the intro where Luke says he loves bad wrestling. It’s plainly obvious he doesn’t enjoy bad wrestling hence his anger during all these videos so far
Tempest's face in the thumbnail sums up the match so well
This match is even worse in hindsight now because this was Bray's final wrestlemania match, and this is what they booked for it...
Watching the live reactions as well, and Luke made the same point of "What was the point of crispy Fiend then?"
Tempest casually listing Orton Mania matches. I wish I had that skill
So how does the Sharmell match don't rank higher? I guess I'm still trying to gauge their logic on the top of list vs bottom.
@@scottmcclintock4923 closer to bottom means best worst matches (something that's so bad but enjoyable) and closer to top means truly awful matches.
This match is now really bad in hind sight considering the passing of bray wyatt
No no no no guys, it's not a simple box, it's a BOX LIKE STRUCTURE
Correction Luke. I think you'll find it is not a box, it's a box like structure.
Honestly Luke's point at the end is super valid and I agree
Saw a video from WWE on UA-cam posted yesterday that ranks this fiend entrance as No.6 of best entrances in WrestleMania history?!?
As a fan of Brays character, I think his debut entrance against Finn was my all time favorite. This one falls a bit far from the mark in my book. Shame that “this” was the end of the fiend.
I think as a treat we need to see them react to the Hardcore Triple Threat (if that’s not something already on like their patreon) :)
Another week, another suggestion for: Triple Cage Match, Jeff Jarrett vs DDP vs David Arquette
My new suggestions:
WWE: Swamp fight Extreme Rules Horror show
TNA: Six Sides of Steel Blindfold Match
WCW: Hulk Hogan Vs The Giant Halloween Havoc 1995
You know the irony is you posted this reaction the exact day WWE posted the full match in their UA-cam channel 😂
Glad to see you get to watch something next week that will not crush your soul again.
I started to get on the Bray bandwagon until 'that' HIAC match. I lost all interest at that point, and haven't cared since. That includes his current run.. or lack thereof.
I demand that they put Charolette vs Nia Jax from that episode of Raw in the box 🤣🤣🤣
Idea for follow up series: Worst "Best Match Ever" where you review all the BME candidates and determine which one is the whole worst.
This was the match I was most excited for on night 2, I cheered loudly when it opened the show
..........yep
21:10 Pete watches Trapped in the Closet 🤣
I’m gonna keep suggesting Hollywood Hogan vs The Warrior from Halloween Havoc 1998 until I at least know whether it’s already present in the cavalcade of crapness 😂
