      On my yz 125 I don’t have a marking for piston size do I copy what’s in there or measure cylinder also what would you use on porting or polishing the ports and what ports to focus on🤙🏻 💨 💨

    • @UpAllNight91
      @UpAllNight91  5 місяців тому

      @@jojokarli Hello. It doesnt hurt to measure the cylinder but you can also just copy what piston is in there if you can read it. I use wiseco and they are one piston size for all 4 cylinder sizes which is always a option too. For porting I use a small dremel and even hand file any imperfections out of the intake ports, there shouldn't be much in the intake to do just a tiny bit here and there. Basically leaving the intake ports almost untouched. The exhaust port, I sharpen the divider. I remove the power valves and use a die grinder with some x buff's (cross buffs). I use the smaller 3/4" cross buffs deep inside the port to work the edges and stuff and then a larger 1-1/2" amd 2" cross buffs for the main part of the exhaust port, then finish with very fine steel wool by hand. Get the exhaust to a good smooth shine. Make sure you either have a die grinder that can control the speed or buy a plug in adaptor that allows you to lower the power to the die grinder so its not going wide open the whole time. Or use a pneumatic die grinder so you can control the speed. Be careful them things can get nasty!

    the " tacky " part of the throttle, is from tapered needles. i really like the read upgrade to be combined with a JD jetting kit, they use smooth needles ( think older suzuki ) and it smooths those weird parts of the throttle out . apex head will emphasize the set up even more. i really like y apex head with the SC dome .

    • @UpAllNight91

      @@UpAllNight91 i doubt they are truly proprietary , but i don't think they are marked , or made known or people would skip the kit, but i can say at the cost of the kit, its worth it for the performance benefit for longevity and instant resolve of those weird spots in throttle response. . believe they are old suzuki needles , maybe meant for snowmobiles i want to say ? maybe look into it a bit , might find some good info on forums with more detail ..

I do want another 4 stroke to add to my arsenal but taking my time, waiting for the economy to pick up again. And when I buy a 4 stroke I always get them either new or dam near almost new (like less than 10 hour). Because keeping track of hours is very important on them 4 strokes.

    What do you think about changing the rear sprocket gearing to gain throttle control?I just got a 2020 all stock engine I haven't checked the rear sprocket but it looks stock.the bike pulls so hard in the bottom of the gears it's unbearable on a tight track I have tried lugging it in 3 and 4 gear but it just seems any slight twist of the throttle and it's wide open.

    • @UpAllNight91
      @UpAllNight91  4 місяці тому

      Going to longer gearing surely helps, like maybe a 48 tooth on the rear. A flywheel weight helps as well. Also these reeds brought some of that throttle control to my bike. But I would start with the gearing.
