I've got GAD, depression and ptsd. Things have gotten really rough for me and I'm seriously considering a service dog. I haven't been able to work for any consistent period of time because of mental health and other chronic health problems. Your story gives me hope that I might be able to be more independent without also being terrified all the time.

I also have ASD and a variety of other problems including dyspraxia which challenges my depth perception (going down stairs is not fun, and don't get me started on escalators) I have considered getting a service dog but due to our family pet dog having OCD it's not a possibility. Don't let anyone tell you that your disability isn't valid, I can imagine how much your beautiful dog has helped you.

Don't minimize the significance of the struggles you face just because you can imagine the struggles others have which seem more difficult. Of course it's good to remember that things can always be worse.your self to acknowledge the extent of the challenges you face so that you can more fully revel in the joy of overcoming them.

Dont discredit yourself - your illness is disabling - thats what qualifies you to have a service dog - your experience of illness is totally valid and everyones is different - does make your difficulty lesser or you less worthy of a SD.
