The emperor's original body did die but due to cloning experiments he was able to put his essence into a clone. The problem is that the force especially the dark side destroys the body over time. That is why he wants a strong force user like Ray to become his new vessel. That was his long tern use for Luke. Snoke was a semi successful cloned where they started to get process to work and if pay attention you will see other clones of him throughout other Star Wars shows.

@@shogunn2517 Maybe, but the prequels were still more successful than the sequels. But that's largely because they take place during a very interesting time period and contributed a lot to the world-building. I mean, the prequels are still talked about today. And the sequels are the best thing that ever happened to the prequels. Because by comparison, the prequels are a lot more cohesive story and feel less Hollywooded.

Please don't be embarrassed for being yourself and liking something no matter what some others may say. It's my fourth favorite of Star Wars. You called it about the emperor. Him always working behind the scenes and cheating death makes total sense. It ties it all the way back to the phantom menace. Leia even says, always working in the shadows. Alright but that doesn't change that the movie absolutely sucks. :) :) You can't make a movie like one long 2 hour sugar-coke-amfetamine action scene and think you are a film maker. The storyline must be more balanced, at least an attempt to do so. This movie had absolutely zero positive about it except for maybe a cute girl or two. Complete nonsense, not worth a dollar of cinema tickets or web payments. It's such a cliché that if one didn't know beforehand about SW at all, one could suspect it is a parody :) :) But even parodies have a script.

Here's some trivia for you. In the scene where they took C3PO to have his memory erased, there was briefly (about 3 or 4 seconds) an old man with a white beard who had some kind of contraption attached to one eye. He shook his head. That was John Williams, the composer of the music! Since this was to be his last Star Wars movie they decided to let him actually be in the movie! So cool!

I'm 54 years old. I saw A New Hope in my hometown theater in 1977. I've collected Star Wars memorabilia for a big part of my life. I named all three of my sons after Star Wars. My first born son is named Anakin. So yeah, you could say I've been a fan most of my life. And even though there are a few things I would like to have seen done a little differently with the sequels and the prequels, I've loved every Star Wars movie ever made...including them. And I would never apologize to anyone for that. And no one should. I simply choose to find balance in my love for Star Wars. And I take the good...with the bad. When Palpatine's body was destroyed in the second death star, his spirit transferred to one of his cloned bodies in exegol. 15:27 depending on which canon you follow... in the Disney (Skywalker Saga) canon, it's an extremely rare ability. In the Legends (aka original) canon, Jedi Healers were maybe 1 in 30 or 1 in 40 during the Old Republic, and by the Yuuzhan Vong invasion (about 25 years after the Battle of Yavin, aka "A New Hope"), they had been built back up to about 1 in 200, and were some of the most valued and protected of Jedi.

    • @captainfilip7188
      @captainfilip7188 Рік тому +2

@@MrZackavelli the way I see it… the answer to saving the ones you love from death, in essence giving someone new life, is an ancient long lost and rare light side power. Palpatine must have known about it, he told Anakin he wouldn’t be able to find the answer from Jedi because he wanted to manipulate Anakin to his side. So Anakin trusted him only for Palpatine to reveal he doesn’t actually have it. Palpatine tried to discover this power through the dark side but ended up relying on cloning and dark magic instead, unnatural methods of sustaining life.
Kylo’s story is meant to mirror Anakin by having a Jedi knight powerful with the Force being manipulated into the dark side. They both end up choosing love over darkness and turn back to the light. What’s beautiful about the mirror imagery is that Rey is essentially Anakin’s chosen champion to restore the balance he established. With Rey being that and Kylo being his blood descendant, they formed a force Dyad and through that were naturally gifted the secret power that Anakin was desperate to uncover. I’d like to think that Anakin as a force deity gifted them with this ability. This helps both sides of the Dyad fulfil their destiny. Rey represents Anakin’s destiny if he never turned to the dark side and faced the ultimate evil in a grand final act to save the galaxy, doing so Rey gives her life.. and that’s when Ben Solo fulfils his part by giving his life to save the one he loves in an ultimate act of selflessness. Exactly what Anakin wanted to do for Padme. They both represent Anakin in some way and help fulfil his destiny.

After he died in Return of the Jedi, he used the knowledge that he gained from his master, Darth Plagueis, to transfer his spirit into his clone body through the dark side. But the clone that he possessed was imperfect and suffered from rapid decay. Despite this, Sidious managed to hold on for decades, and in that time he influenced events that led to the sequel trilogy, most notably the rise of the First Order and Ben Solo's fall to the dark side.

It basically feels impossible to win with Star Wars "fans".

Of all of the Sequel Trilogy, I love this one. I liked Force Awakens, and intensely disliked The Last Jedi, but because of the nostalgia and fan-service moments...I love The Rise of Skywalker. None still compare to the Original Trilogy...but most of my problems with these Sequel films were a lack of planning, of cohesion. George Lucas had a plan and gave the plan to Disney...and they chucked it out. The entire Disney approach has been a bungle from the get-go.
My favorite moment by far is the voices of the past Jedi that Rey hears...Jedi you know (Obi-wan, Anakin, Mace Windu, Yoda, and Qui-gon Jinn); Jedi you have seen without dialogue in the movies, but voiced by the Clone Wars actors like Olivia D'Abo (Master Luminara Unduli), and Jennifer Hale (Master Aayla Secura), Jedi not in the movies but in Clone Wars or Rebels like actors Freddie Prinze, Jr. (as Kanan Jarrus) and the amazing Ashley Eckstein (as Ahsoka Tano...the character played by Rosario Dawson in live-action).
Another brief moment I adored was the return of Denis Lawson as Rogue Squadron CO, Wedge Antilles from the Original Trilogy in a gunner's chair on the Millennium Falcon in the final battle.
Thanks for watching all of these, Addie!!! Happy New Year!!!

    Thank you, honestly and sincerely.
When "The Last Jedi" came out, I was in the camp thinking that everyone whining and crying about "they destroyed Star Wars and Luke and my childhood and we can't move on from this and EVERYTHING IS RUINED FOREVER" just needed to chill the frell out.
Then I saw "Rise of Skywalker," and I understood that feeling, because I had it about this film.
But I've been taking CinemaWins mantra to heart: liking things is more fun than not liking things. I've tried to apply it to this film, with limited success. The Emperor coming back, okay, might make sense, but it's such a blatant ass-pull for this film in an attempt to "give the audience what they want" I have a hard time with it. And the Star Destroyers with planet-killing weapons? Even Dark Empire, the crappy comic this story takes a lot of beats from, had the great good sense to limit it to Super Star Destroyers, and then "only" powerful enough to crack the planet's crust, not destroy it outright. Where do escalate to from here? And don't say Sun Crusher, that abomination doesn't exist. And the dagger blade matching the outline of the Death Star wreckage and the sliding bit helping you find the treasure vault is just silly. And I really liked Rey being "no one," the idea that the Force could choose anyone to be its champion, you didn't need a special family or anything. For all the complaints of "Rey is a Mary Sue," attempting to address that by making her Palpatine's secret granddaughter actually made her more of a Mary Sue.
But seeing you watch and genuinely enjoy the film, even if you had questions and concerns, makes me appreciate it so much more.
I will say, I think the Sequel Trilogy is a very interesting examination of filmmaking in the Social Media Age. Each film is a direct response to the ones that came before. "Everyone" hated the Prequels, too much CGI and an overly-complicated and boring political plot being the most oft-cited complaints. So "The Force Awakens" proudly touts its practical effects (despite using MORE CGI than before) and tells a more simple, "Star Wars-y" story. "Everyone" hated it for being a bad remake of "A New Hope." So "The Last Jedi" goes in a completely different direction, being an affectionate deconstruction of Star Wars. "Everyone" hated for not being "real" Star Wars, so "Rise of Skywalker" walks back pretty much every decision made in "The Last Jedi." And "Everyone" hates it.
What Lucasfilm really needed to do was have a rough story plotted out. Here's where we start, here's where we'll end, here's the major plot beats we need to hit to get there. Who cares if people on the internet guess the story? That just means they're paying attention and picking up what you're laying down. The thing that most disappoints me about the ST is how obvious it is that there was no plan, very little in the films "echoes" with other parts of Saga, or even the ST itself. It's not the shock of "Oh my gosh I did not see that coming!" that sticks with us, it's the surprise of "Oh, wow. . . now everything else makes so much sense!" Vader's reveal in "Empire" isn't memorable because it was a surprise, but because it tied together everything we'd learned up to that moment: Luke's father, a Jedi, Obi-Wan's student; Darth Vader, also a Jedi, also Obi-Wan's student, everyone tiptoeing around those subjects, why Vader was so obsessed with Skywalker, letting the entire Rebellion go to chase down just Luke's friends, everything suddenly made sense. That's the kind of coherence the ST needed, and sadly lacks.
But thank you for enjoying them, and now I will, too!

The first time kylo ren took off his mask i got the vibe that he and rey would have at least tension between the two, i just didn't know if they would act upon it. Even the fact that its revealed they are a dyad basically means they're like force soul mates, when Ben dies Rey is devastated, something I wish they showed more, but it could be explained that she was still processing everything. She describes his loss as "losing half of herself" after "becoming whole" when she didn't realize that she was incomplete to begin with. The novelization also reveals that Ben's force ghost doesn't appear because he can still communicate with rey directly in her head, which could mean that since he transferred his energy into her and with the dyad connection, he is technically a part of Rey or at least still connected. The star wars legends had a dyad with Bastila Shan and Revan and they were in love so while a dyad could be platonic it has more romantic context in star wars lore

Honestly, the biggest problem with the Sequel Trilogy is a lack of planning. They didn't have an overarching plan for the trilogy, and so it got off to an okay start, and then went off the rails from there. I feel like JJ tried to rein is back in with this movie, but the damage was already done by The Last Jedi. I lay this at the feet of Lucasfilm, and welcome the control that has been assumed by Filoni and Favreau. I'm interested to see your thoughts on the Disney+ shows.

Except JJ said TLJ didn't derail the sequel plan at all. And trying to un-do TLJ made TROS worse because it undid all the character development we've gotten so far, espeically when it comes to the character dynamic between Rey and Ben.
Making Rey a Palpatine instead of being a nobody was one of his biggest mistake,
The whole trilogy would have been better, if they had chosen to do what the Rise of Kylo Ren Comics did. Tell the story of Ben Solo and how he turned into Kylo Ren and why.
If they wanted to include Rey, then let her be the second main character. Both stories could be told simultaniously and then how they are connected, their bond growing stronger each day, Ben still struggeling, but in the end both fight on the same side. And then instead of killing him off, let him atone for his crimes. He could be some type of vigilante. Freeing prisoners, helping people, doing good.

I feel like that was just JJ toeing the party line. He'd never say anything bad ... Mark Hammill didn't initially either, but even he cracked and started speaking truthfully.
