Weiterhin gute Besserung. - and for everybody in English: wishing Stripey a continued recovery and suggested the Sea to Summit Air Chair for some back support for the long winter evenings in the tent.
Thanks a lot Hendrik, was actually looking into a chair a few times already. My back problems come from an stupid accident which send me for nearly 1 year into a wheelchair...long story short thanks a lot for your thoughts and I'll definitely keep my eyes peeled if I can make a bargain on eBay for testing it out 🙌👍
Thanks a lot Dave! Yeah is quite mad what is all available nowadays - basically everything is existing, but the bathtub groundsheet is really good in my opinion. Keeps the drafts and water out.
Nice to see you back out again. Its not been great camping weather this winter, a few crisp days but mostly just dreich. Funny how damp weather always feels colder than when its really frosty. Hopefully your back is holding out. Plenty of nice spots in our own neck of the woods so you don't have to over do it.
Hi lain MC 👋, very true, therefore we do t get dry skin in Scotland 😂. Yeah the weather isn't great at the moment and the coming weekend is t looking promising either - probably a good time to explore a bit the local area again (safes also the drive 😉) Thanks 👋
Great to see you out in the local patch stripey . I’ve not seen you wearing those shoes before. Typical weather for sunny Glasgow. 4 seasons in a hour. Cheers James
Thanks a lot James! Yeah tried some different ones this time - slightly stiffer sole which makes walking on hill sides more comfy. As soon as I have an opinion on them I will mention it in an video 😂👍
Glad to see your back is better . It’s been a tough winter in Scotland this year I think , very wet and windy, and when it’s not , it’s really cold and frosty. Hears to spring 🙏
Thanks a lot John! I really hope that we get more snow, didn't want to miss a whole winter season tbh....on the other hand spring sounds also very nice 🤔😊
Stripey! Back again at last. Good that your back is doing well. I always admire your light weight set up too. And to have a proper meal dehydrating it is great. Hope to see you out again soon. ATB Serk
Great video. So good to see you again. That’s a lovely area … shame about the morning views but it looked lovely when you arrived and the lights looked good too. Many thanks for sharing these trips. Take care!
What an adventure you had yourself on, and with us too. It is so soothing and relaxing just to stop for a moment and watch a unique and creative perspective of the world. So thank you for getting out there and making this video. I used to be almost like you and wanted to be constantly in the wild, but then moved to the big city and sometimes feel I lost my free spirit. But that's a very different story. Wishing you all the best and safety on your journeys
Spectacular with the rain in the distance, and the sound of it on the tent! These tents seem very robust considering how lightweight they seem. Keep smiling 👍
Yeah pretty impressive what happend with the materials the last year's - sometimes I wonder where the end of textile innovation is. Developed like 3 years ago some smart textiles which I believe will be the next big thing in the outdoors as soon as it will be possible to manufacturer them for a decent price + increased washing durability...
Short trips up into the hills are so worth it wind, rain and all. It was a bit of a dodgems regarding the rain but you got the break you needed for your pimped up dinner. Looked nice I must say as did the city lights down below - sleepy! Well, a windy one in the night but good overall. All the best out there. Mark
Great wee video Stripey😍..Great to see you back 😁👍..You can’t beat the old Dumfoyne😁⛰..Glad your back was good on the tour..Great views and cool edits😁. Cheers Robert
The Scarp 1 is an absolute excellent tent. The only downside is the packability for me as I don't like to attach things outside to my rucksack. This means that I can only finishing up packing when the Scarp 1 is down. On the otherside when I use the Duomid or Lanshan I can get completely packed up and at the end just put the tent into my rucksack. Personally I use the Scarp when I know that it is cold as a double wall tent is much warmer than a single wall tent.
As I own a Lanshan, Duomid and self built tent for Solo's, I would probably take the Duomid/self built tent as they better in winds and lighter. The Duomid has also the advantage that I can attach a bug net - obviously depending where I go. In the Alps I used to 80% my self built one (no ground sheet is brilliant on rocky ground, just a foam mattress that's it) the other 20% I used a tarp. In Scotland we have a lot of ticks and other annoying little critters, usually I am fine with the duomid and a head net but that is a very personal pain level 😂 Money for value you can't beat the Lanshan. Picking the right spot is equally important to the tent imho.
Good video mate, I am looking for a trekking pole tent so that I have a lighter options to my scarp 1, how is the duomid for space and wind handling? I have also looked at Dan Durson x-mid and the tarptent Stratospire
Hi David, The duomid is mich bigger than the scarp 1, particular when it is setup with an A-Frame. I believe my groundsheet is 230x120cm 🤔 (complete measurements are in the 'Solitude' video. Handling the wind is in my opinion good, did a test on it before. Hope it helps, ATB Stripey
Hi. BEAUTIFUL. SCENERIES. LANDSCAPE. AWESOME. AMAZING. HIKING. CAMPING.

Thanks a lot Serk! Aye it is an amazing kit I assembled over the years - the only downside is all the camera gear which comes In at roughly 3kg 😂
@@StripeyHatGuy It’s worth the weight!
Thanks!
Nice lightweight set up Stripey 👍
Is that a home made groundsheet?
Thanks a lot mate! No the groundsheet is from 3FL, AliExpress. The complete version/ description of my model is in the 'Solitude' video 👍
@@StripeyHatGuy Ok cheers. Looking forward to seeing how you get on with the DIY pot-stand / windshield!
Yeah absolutely! Unfortunately still waiting for the material - not sure why but it should be already here as it comes apparently from the UK 🤔
Great to see you back out Stripey! Hope the backs still good? Can't wait until the next one!😎
Thank you very much Allan! Yeah the back is still good and the legs are asking for more. Thankfully the weather isn't to good so I have a slow start 😂

Nice video! Have you ever tried the caldera cook system? Good trails!
Thank you very much Graxaim! I am still waiting for the material to arrive - according to my order I should already have it so I could try it 😒
Thanks, Stripey. Love the sound of rain on a tent. What are your thoughts about the scarp 1 these days? When and where would you prefer to use it?
The Scarp 1 is an absolute excellent tent. The only downside is the packability for me as I don't like to attach things outside to my rucksack. Thankyou. What tent would you use for multi day hiking across hills and mountains and wild camping in spring and autumn?

@@StripeyHatGuy fyi, tarptent are going to use a new material for the next version of Scarp 1, I think SilPoly, but I am hoping for dyneema version
Oh that is interesting, wonder what material they will use. Thanks a lot for mentioning it 👍
