- In which I travel to DeSoto State Park in Alabama and camp for 3 nights in my Oliver Legacy Elite II travel trailer. I also spend a day exploring Cloudland Canyon State Park in Georgia. Then I kayak on the Little River above DeSoto Falls and finally visit Noccalula Falls on my trip home.

We use to camp there all the time, BUT when they installed the sodium vapor lights that stay on all night. Couldn't use our telescope or star gaze, so we found a couple of campgrounds nearby, where we camp now. We love hiking and exploring Little River Canyon. I bring the scout troop up there every year on our way to summer camp. We take a 20 min hike down into the canyon to our favorite, secret, swimming hole. They always want to come back. Its great seeing the expression on the new parents face on the hike and at the swimming hole. We also hike up to Grace High Falls on our winter trips.
It’s a great area for sure. Shame about the light pollution 😞. Thanks for watching!
Found you through Liz amazing
Cool! Thanks for watching!
Would love if you’d do a production video showing you many tools and how you go about making these wonderful travelogues.
Thanks for the compliment! I'm not sure what I'd really say about it, mostly I just record raw footage using my iPhone, a old GoPro, a Sony camcorder and a Leica still camera. Then I put it all together using Final Cut Pro. Maybe I will put together something in the future- it's a good suggestion. Thanks again for watching!
Quickly becoming one of my favorite channels. Thanks, Steve!
Wow, that is a real compliment! Thanks for watching!
Nice scenery while kayaking. Loved the deer at camp ground too. Nice.
Glad you enjoyed it! I worry sometimes that my videos are boring. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
Hey Steve! Loved this, you sparked my memory! I camped and swam near that dam maybe 12-14 yrs ago when I was around 10 yrs old. Great to see it again!
Well you’re just a young one, aren’t you? 😂 it’s a cool spot, for sure. Just wish there had been more water over the falls. Thanks again for watching ❤️
My dog’s name is also Oreo, a German wirehair pointer. Nice video content and trailer.
Cool! Pat Oreo on the head for me - thanks for watching!
Yaaa, another episode!
Haha, well at least somebody is excited about it 😁. Thanks for watching!
I’m enjoying your videos. I’m getting very close to retirement and considering an Oliver. You’re doing exactly what I plan to do upon retirement. Cheers!
Thanks for your comment! I'm enjoying myself and I'm probably going to be retiring very soon. The Oliver is a great trailer, the quality really shows, you should take a look at one first hand. Thanks for watching!
We use to go there (Desoto) all the time, but the sodium vapor lights stay on all night, hope they didn't keep you up. No stargazing here. You missed Little River Canyon and Cherokee Rock City. I take the scouts to Little River Canon every year on our way to summer camp. We hike to our secret swimming hole. About a 20 min hike and swim all day. No one wants to leave, but before dark we hike out and camp over night. During the winter we usually set up camp for a week and take day trips around the area to hike, climb, and explore. One of our favorite hikes is up bear Creek canyon. Isolated, and you will not see anyone else. We have found fossils along the trail. Usually takes most of the day, then climb out at a 60' waterfall.
Wow, that sounds like great fun! I was able to black out the lights in the camper! 😂 I have been to Little River Canyon before, but I was only there a few days and I wanted to take that side trip up to Cloudland Canyon. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
We enjoyed meeting you at Desoto S.P. we were the couple that talked with you that owned an Oliver. This was a nice video we will be looking forward to your next adventure!
Great to meet y’all as well! Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching!
Greetings from Northern Virginia. I found you today. I've considered what you have and will make a factory trip soon. I'm pretty much sold on it. I'm also looking at trucks. Are you out all the time? Do you boondock? Generally, do you stay in one spot for a few days or weeks? What App do you rely on? Thank you for your videos. I like the perspective of someone who travels alone, not counting your dog. And when video taping, what product(s) do you use?
Hi George! I am pretty happy with my V8 F-150 4WD, it pulls the Oliver well and gets about 12MPG while towing. I am not a full-timer. I prefer boondocking / dry camping. Up to now, I generally stay a few days at any one spot. I am retiring, so planning on making longer trips soon. Still don't see myself staying for multiple weeks in one place. Apps to find campgrounds- I mostly use Campendium. As far as video, I often use my iPhone, but also have a Sony camcorder and a GoPro. Also take still photos with a mirrorless digital camera. I use Final Cut Pro for editing and I use Epidemic Sound for music. Good luck with the Oliver and thanks for watching!
Is your kayak paddle curved? I've been kayaking for 22 years and have never seen a curved one.
Haha, no it’s straight but I went back and looked at it and it does look curved! I think it’s sort of a fish-eye effect with the GoPro. Thanks for watching!
