I was wondering if you can get to all the plumbing if something goes wrong. Looks like some access under seats.
Yes, Oliver can access all the plumbing and wiring. They say they can replace the tanks if needed through the access under the beds, although I don't know why they would ever need replacing. Thanks for watching!
Gun and weed storage. That got me laughing. I'm guessing Oliver doesn't advertise that unique feature. LOL.
It's the worst-kept secret about Oliver trailers! I keep my frying pan and dutch oven in there now.
I shut off my water and water heater when leaving my house for a trip. My brother had this happen to him. So sorry it happened to you.
Thanks, yeah, I am doing the same since then, for sure!
Ahhh, the inside review...looking great!
Great review.
Thanks for watching, glad you liked it!
Always hide a key somewhere. 😒
Yep, I keep a key in my tow vehicle now!
Great video, Steve! Did you have any cell service?
Thanks Tim! I forgot to mention that, didn't I? No cell service at Coleman Lake for me with AT&T. Thanks for watching!
Fort Pickens is on my list to visit, thanks for this video. Its even more beautiful than I thought. From research i knew a lot of those sites are short and I'd probably have to do like you and park in the overflow if i didnt fit. I'd much rather go down there when its nice and cool like that.
I have always enjoyed the beach in the winter! Fewer crowds and the heat is not stifling. Thanks for watching, Lisa!
Hi Steve. Just wondering, since we are potential Oliver LEII owners, have you experienced any issues, other than your microwave, that were concerning or potential problems with your trailer. Keep up the good work with your UA-cam channel.
Hi Greg- I have not (knock on wood) had any other significant issues with the Oliver. I did have the vent on top that was cracked, which Oliver replaced for the cost of the part, but other than that, I can't think of anything I've had an issue with. Appreciate your comment, and hope you decide on the right camper for you!
I use a airfryer for my rolls, no burn to worry about. Cut the bottoms off and eat them anyway.
Now that I have the convection oven, that should work for me! Thanks for watching!
Hey Steve, Just started following your adventures. What vehicle do you pull your Oliver with?
Hi Hunt- glad you found me! I pull it with a 2022 F-150. It has a 5.0L V8 and 4WD. Thanks for watching!
Something about a man’s butt cheek on video turns me off. Bad planning.
Steve, Very entertaining and good video.🍌🥜
Thanks so much, I appreciate it! 🍌🥜👍
I like my peanut butter and bananas on a toasted English muffin.
Oooh, that sounds pretty good, I'll have to try that! Thanks for watching, Debbie!
@ If you have honey, it’s even better with a little drizzle. We are also Oliver owners, Hull 1397, maybe we’ll see you at the rally in May.
Steve you make really great videos. I love watching them. They are so relaxing. Your Drone camera must be extremely high resolution . Such amazing views.
Appreciate it George, that means a lot! The drone is a DJI Mini 4 Pro and I agree it makes some awesome 4K video.
Drone footage and song Rivers Going to Cry was awesome. Great video presentation.
I really appreciate it, George! Thanks for watching!
I grew up on PB & Banana ! Excellent Vlog Steve !
Gotta love PB&B- a flavor from my childhood! Thanks so much for watching!
We love Peanut butter and Banana in Canada too 🇨🇦 - I love the gentleness of your videos
OK, good to know about PB&B! I knew I was a Canadaphile for a reason! Thanks for your kind words and thanks for watching!
Hi Steve! Deb and I will be visiting both of these locations in Curiosity later this month. But first we’re going to the Eggs n S’more rally at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park. Then January 20-26 at Blackwater and January 26-31 at Fort Pickens, site A10. After that. 10 days at Salt Springs in Ocala National Forest followed by a 5-day cruise out of Jacksonville. We are eager to visit the panhandle for the first time, and look forward to a break from northern Ohio’ cold. Thanks for the preview!
Hi Steve! That sounds like a fun itinerary! Hopefully you'll have better luck with the weather than I did. Of course, I scheduled mine at the last minute. Blackwater was full, so the boondocking site was great. Hopefully you'll have an escape from the snow and cold!
Enjoy your videos, Steve. Nice presentation and editing. Ever experience any trouble towing with a half ton pickup? I have one myself and wondered if I need to upgrade for better performance, both pulling and braking. Thanks for your videos and say hello to Oreo. 😀
Thanks for the comment, Greg! My F-150 has no issues pulling or stopping the Oliver- I've been into the mountains of Tennessee, but haven't taken the Oliver out west to the BIG mountains yet. Thanks for watching! Oreo says woof 🐶
Another Oliver camper here. Thanks for the heads-up on the small sites. Can you include a look see of the shower and bathrooms for you future videos? It helps us a lot when we can see your previews of what to plan for. Thanks and safe travels. We love our Ollie.
Sure, that's something I should remember to do... The bath house nearest to my site was large- several private shower rooms, large men's and women's rooms and a laundry. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching!
Hi Steve and Oreo. I also enjoy getting off grid and enjoying solitude of the trails. I believe you have the 640AH Lithium System. When you get a chance, would you do a video on how long you can boondock in the Oliver without campground power (including running the AC)? My wife and I are planning on getting an Oliver with the 640AH system and composting toilet to be off grid as long as possible when required. I believe you’re the only Oliver owner with a UA-cam channel. Thank you for sharing your Oliver adventures.
Thanks for your comment! There are so many variables with power when boondocking, but I'll keep that in mind, to have a boondocking-details kind of video. In general, if I'm not using the AC, I tend to run refrigerator, lights, water pump and a little bit of inverter power to run coffee maker and microwave. That will use about 10-15% of the (640 aH) battery capacity per day. As far as the AC goes, if it is really hot outside and the AC has to run continuously, it would deplete the batteries in about 5-6 hours. Not something you can run for long. If you have a generator, you can top up the batteries maybe during the day and then unplug at night and run the AC just to make sleeping more comfortable. Appreciate you commenting and watching!
nice place. If I had your setup I'd surely check it out. Nice presentation Steve. I am a fan of yours.
Thanks for being a fan! Yeah, I really like areas like that- just wish I could have spent more time and had brought my kayak... Thanks for watching!
0:20 Its ChilHOWEE!!!!!
Minute 8 and still talking about the basement???
Thanks for your comment! Yes, I can be long-winded. 😂 There are many video tours of the Oliver you can find on UA-cam. Some people like a more in-depth review. I talked about the basement from 2:38 to 6:12. So, I guess 3:34 talking about the basement was probably too long, but I tried as best I could! Thanks for watching!
I have two Solo stoves as well as a Walmart smokeless fire-pit & you cannot tell them apart. 👍
Yes, I think the Walmart fire pit is a great value and works really well so far! Thanks for watching!
A correction to what I said about direct sales from Oliver. IF you have a dealer in your state, you would need to buy from them, however, if there is no dealer, you can buy direct from Oliver. Give Oliver a call for the specifics for buying in your state.
Awesome video and good to see your adventure content Steve!! Just like you, I purchase my camper from a RV dealer which has been awesome fixing anything that needed it, plus I did get the extended warranty as well for additional peace of mind! Keep the adventures coming! Cheers!
Thanks so much, glad you are enjoying my travels! Extended warranty is great peace of mind.
Nice trip with great scenery !
Thanks, yes, I really like this area- Alabama has some beautiful spots! Thanks for watching!
Awesome video, glad to hear that Oliver got you all fixed up. Are you pulling the E2 with an F150? Ate housing g the Anderson weight distribution? How do you feel the truck handles the E2?
Thanks! Yes, I am pulling it with an 5.0L V8 F150. The Anderson hitch works well once you learn its quirks, but on the road it is rock solid. Never had an issue on the highway with the sway or the handling of the truck. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
Very informative video. Thank you!
Thanks, glad you like it! 👍
😅Your dog following you around during takedown is adorable! It looks very easy to take down camp, hitch up, and go.
She is glued to me, for sure. She's afraid I'm going to go somewhere without her! Thanks for watching and commenting!
The door under nightstand would be great place to store your soft sided laundry basket so your dirty clothes have a place to go outside of your normal living area, and usually the area you probably are getting dressed in anyway
That's a great idea, I may give that a try! Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
Can you explain how you have your Andersen Hitch attached to your trailer frame? Those look like some really long chains.
There are some brackets that bolt onto the trailer frame. The farther apart they are the better the leverage. The chains are the standard length. Once you have the brackets on the trailer, the chains have an adjustment that lets you get them to be tight when the weight is on the hitch. Oliver did the installation, but the adjustment is fairly easy to do. Appreciate your watching!
Upper refrigerator vent would still be helpful in evacuating hot air from the camper. Otherwise it just heats up the interior - okay if it’s cold outside but not so much if it is warm outside.
Yep, may be- good point! Thanks for watching!
The inside of an Oliver has no problem with heat build up. We have camped in 105 temps in direct sunlight and the AC has no problem keeping the camper cool, even on the lowest setting.
Great review, thank you!
Thanks for much and thanks for watching!
Why didn’t you turn the faucet off? If you had turned it off you wouldn’t have had the burst problem. We turn our faucet off when we are at home.
Yep, well hindsight is 20/20 they say 😂. I do turn it off now when I leave home. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful trailer!! I toast bread in the skillet!!
Sure, that works! I got a little stand that lets you toast over the flame that works pretty well... Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
Thank you for showcasing this campground! I'll be visiting in a few months and was wondering how the riverside campsites were laid out.
Great! Hope you enjoy it, it’s a nice place. I was in site 8 at the very end. Thanks for watching!
@@StevesRoadTripChronicles Good deal! We're looking at site 5 or 6. We have a 14x14 tent that will probably have to setup on the concrete pad.
For your fridge light staying on, isn't there a fuse you can pull?
@@mvemerson there is a breaker I could flip, but I don’t like using breakers as switches- they aren’t really made for that many cycles. It’s a good idea, though…
Congratulations on your retirement!
Thanks! It's taking some time to adjust, but I am loving it for sure!
Thank you so much for this very detailed tour. I am looking forward to watching both parts again with my wife. We had been gravitating towards Airstream (coming from the boating world), but have seen so much about rivets popping out and various issues. I do think that the Oliver looks a bit sterile on the inside, but the some Foybles could fix that. A very usable shower and toilet are very high on our list of priorities. Thanks again!
Great, I'm glad you like it! I started my search strongly considering an Airstream Caravel. But after reading the Airstream forums and the problems that a lot of people were having, I started to lean toward fiberglass. Once I found the Oliver, I knew I wanted one, but had to get over the price :). Good luck with your journey and thanks for watching!
Rubbermaid makes an Action Packer container that fits exactly in the box at the front. Cords, hoses, etc. goes in it. Mounted sewer tubes under trailer which freed up the bumper for wheel chalks, wood squares, levelers. Got the hitch and an aluminum carrier with a cargo box, and carry a solo stove, little red fireplace and vacuum in it. In the basement I carry a tool box, and 6 plastic storage containers. Each is separate purpose…….electrical connections, water connections, pet tie outs, nytril gloves, etc. Also carry a bottle of spray rubbing alcohol to spay hands, gloves, and sewer accessories to disinfect. So there is a lot of storage if well planned.
I'll have to look into the Action Packer, thanks! Yes, you can fit a lot of stuff in the Oliver if you plan well. I don't stay in mine for long periods, so storage has never been a problem, anyway. Thanks for the tips and thanks for watching!
I'm shocked at how many people think they need a 3/4 ton pickup or greater in order to tow an Oliver Legacy Elite II
Well, too much is usually better than not enough. 😂. But my V8 F150 tows it pretty well. Thanks for watching!
Just checking in to see if you and Oreo weathered the storm okay. This was a wonderful video! Steve “Curiously”
Hi Steve! Yes, we managed to duck the storm. It was a little windy here in Birmingham, gusts to 35 or so, but not too bad. Had a problem with my microwave mount in the Oliver and will be going to Hohenwald later this month. Hope you guys are doing well 👍
Another great video Steve. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Mike! I appreciate it 👍
What an absolutely beautiful area. The drone shots were stunning. The chili looked delicious, too 😋 As always, little Oreo is just so precious 🐾 Thanks for sharing, Steve 👍
Thanks! Yes, it was really nice and peaceful there. Oreo says hi! 🐕 I appreciate you watching and commenting! ❤️
I’d say that The Oliver is the best for weekend getaways to the lake or to the beach, or for road trips lasting a week long at most. They’re definitely more suitable for singles or couples. I’d use it for going to the beach (four hour drive from where I live) as a hotel/motel alternative and get the composting toilet and shower curtain options. I like that they are small yet maneuverable, simply made yet well made, and the manufacturers stand by their work. The only other camper I’d consider would be the Airstream, though they’re pretty expensive.
I agree, I think you are spot-on about the Oliver. I looked at the Airstream before I purchased the Oliver as well- I liked the sturdiness of the fiberglass in the Oliver. Plus no MDF in the Oliver 😁. Thanks for commenting and watching!
As an owner, I can say that many other owners like ourselves camp for weeks on end in our Olivers. It really comes down to learning to live simple. You buy your fresh food at each destination, kind of like you do at home. Laundry is treated the same way. It really is limitless if you get adjusted to life on the road. The composting toilet is a great option for long stays on the road, boondocking etc.
We grew up on Big Yellow Creek which is just right above the lock and dam. Yellow Creek looks like Blue Creek except it stays wide for a long ways. Ours was the very last cabin up Yellow Creek. Getting out on the canoe on those nice still mornings and evenings was the best. One thing about Burchfield, be sure to carry in what you think you'll need for your stay because it's a long way to a store. Somehow we always forget at least one important thing. Enjoy your videos, thanks!
That’s very cool! Sounds like you’ve got some great memories from Yellow Creek, Lisa. You’re right about stocking up with supplies. It’s a long way to the store! Thanks for sharing your history in that area, and I appreciate your watching!
Hi Steve. I’ve enjoyed your videos for a while now but I never thought I would see my own cabin on one of your videos. Yes, the second cabin with the boat house belongs to my wife and I. We’ve owned it over two years now. We don’t get to go as much as we would like but we have enjoyed a place to get away. We used to camp as well when our kids were younger but we recently sold the camper now that they are all married with their own families. Thanks for the video and feel free to drop by and visit if we are at the cabin the next time you are there.
Wow, Steve, that's a real coincidence! You've got what looks like a great place. I bet you really enjoy getting out there and relaxing! Thanks for letting me know and if I go back, you may find me paddle up to your dock one day! 😂 Thanks for commenting and watching!
