Reminds me of an incident that happened at a local scrap metal shop.
Someone brought in a WW2 bomb. The employee bought it for scrap not knowing what it was. A few weeks later, the owner saw it in the yard and called the police. Who shut down and evacuated everything within 100m.
The police called a military base 4hrs away to get their EOD to figure out if it was armed. They could not make a safe determination, so they carefully took it out to a field outside of town, and detonated it. (The farmer made a nice bit of money for allowing that.)
Best part, they had no idea who brought it in. None employees remember buying it, it had been there a while (best guess) so there was no way to know.
The police's theory, someone was cleaning out an old farm and found it. But also did not know know what it was.
Made for a bit of excitement in our small town of 3,500.

Something that I think is really overlooked is how content creators have managed to monetize good deeds and community work, without really thinking about it. Channels like this might generally be looking for good content, but while you're earning through your hobby or interests you're also providing a public service, one that would otherwise not be invested in. It's great how this has worked out, creating a new industry out of doing interesting, and good, things.

Situations like this are GREAT for training bomb squads and local cops alike. Sure they've been underwater for a while and are likely inert, but they plausibly COULD be live.
And are treated as such. That kind of adrenaline, dealing with gawkers and and guys with cameras . . . not something that you'll get from a "simulation".
Real world stuff like this gives them the experience and familiarity they will need should a really nasty situation occur.

I was like,"Why the hell did you bring that inside!?" She just kind of shrugged it off. I told her even if it isn't real we need to call it in. Well I know some guys who went fishing in a large river& they'd throw basically 1/4 to 1/2 stick of Dynamite & they called it shocking the fish. The fish would float up & they scoop them with a net in the boat. I saw them do it at a lake once too. They kept every fish that came up & would give away a mess of them to families in need. They'd clean & freeze some of the fish & then smoke or cook a bunch for dinner & breakfast. Scrapes were buried in the garden as fertilizer. Waste no part of anything all scraps had a purpose feed the pigs or put in the garden area for fertilizer.
They bought water proof wick & then used melted wax to seal the wick area. Basically they'd take pull the wicks out of M-80s & wax seal all but one without a fuse. Put the long wick in normally middle of it. Then they duct taped them in length together & blow things straight up in the air blow it up to pieces. Those idiots would take a 55 gallon drum, cut & piece thier bombs together mostly M-80's put a long wick on it put the 55 gallon drum over the bomb & blow those drums straight up in the air about 75 feet to 125 feet high. The blast & percussion from the explosion was unbelievable with some of them. I can't believe even we even allowed them to do that crap happen. It was a miracle no one was hurt except some hearing loss.
On night one of the guys thought the wick came loose, it was the fact that ground was damp where they dug the trench for it. Which caused the wick to burn extremely slow. He walked over to move the barrel & someone could see from where they were the wick was still burning under the drum. He started screaming for him to run & hit the dirt. To be honest that was the night that we all stopped doing that. He was about 10 seconds from being killed. That one blew up the bottom edge of the barrel too. They even quit fishing that way too.
Before anyone starts yelling this was in the late 70's to the very early 80's. I know it was wrong, that's why I was never in the boat. Plus they never wasted any of fish. A lot of people were well fed.

I'm pretty positive that bone was human. Animal bones *do* look similar to human bones so it can be hard to tell the difference. I was in a search party and we found numerous bones that looked human but they were debunked as animal bones. So no guarantee it's human, because it could be canine. It could be a child's, but it is rather thick for a child, whereas a canine's would be shorter than an adult's but thicker than a child's. Doing some research...
After looking at numerous different femurs, as they do have minor differences, I can confirm it is not a human bone. In fact, it is a canine femur. I've done calculations on average human child bones for what the length of that is, and normal diameters. It's too thick to be a child's bone, but too short to be an adult bone. So either a canine bone, or the bone of someone with dwarfism which is something I'm not knowledgeable on.
So I'd say go back down there and give it to a dog!

Anybody else who knows Anything about explosives still waiting for one of these "diver videos" to turn white one of these days? (For those who don't know: It is when recording explosions, due to the over-pressure plus shock wave of the explosions it causes a thing called "whiteout" which basically overexposes the camera so there is Always a period where all you can see is white light during the recording)
I sure am cause these guys don't know the tinniest thing about explosives and how messily they can kill you ( A subtle hint: Meaning when an explosive device can turn your bones to powdered dust and liquefy your internal organs just from the concussion alone but not up to and counting any "fragmentation" effects from the detonation, not even kidding) or how quickly it can be done.
They really, really need to be more careful....or one of them will die one of these days just picking something up. It Will Happen since most people tend to think, "eh I'm safe" and "that'll Never happen to me" but guess what? It might just be your day and you didn't even know it!
Again, for the love of all of your body parts, STOP using the radios and cellphones next to explosives! You can cause an explosion by doing that!

yea it can be 2/3 starter criteria for a fire except this fire is faster than the first dislike on a UA-cam video with more than 1000 views
      1: oxygen - good
      2: fuel - good
      3: spark - not yet...

You guys have been lucky thankfully no one's been hurt. One nice thing you've all learned to be more cautious handling the fire arms. First time I saw Brit, Nug, & another diver handling firearms I just about had a panic attack watching them live.
I remember one of the bomb squad members said that an explosive that had been in the water & when you take them out of the rivers or lakes is to keep them wet. You all need to carry a bucket with you when your diving areas like that. You could put what ever it is a suspected "pipe bombs or possible mortars". Keep them in the bucket with water, I think he said it would keep them more stable & reduce you all from getting hurt. Other than that you all had some awesome finds. Congratulations on them.

I am guessing that keeping the suspected bomb in water might reduce the warming of an object removed from cold river or creek water as water temperature is ussually colder than the air temperature. Most materials expand as they warm up. Expansion of the explosive inside might cause friction. Also i just thought when u remove a bomb from water you are suppling it with more oxygen. Fuel, heat and oxygen are the three sides of the fire triangle.

and they do all the time, maybe we should go look for some I got a mask and the water usually isn't very deep!
I even seen these Divers pick one up off the ground the water was so low! Don't get me wrong I do like your videos!

Living in Atlanta and seeing they have this technology to obtain a possible bomb is crazy. Yet when my house was broken into and my roommate had to climb out a window and run away from 3 men and 2 women with guns and knives it took almost 3 hours for APD to arrive...and of course they never caught anyone. They also took serial numbers of all our electronics stolen but they never checked up on them and didn’t even have record of our items when I called to check up on the case has me shook.
This case made the local news because it was considered a “bomb threat”, but 5 armed robbers that got away was never covered to inform people in our neighborhood or area to be cautious caused 3 other homes to be robbed with armed burglars.

I’m fairly certain the circular metal items that you found at 4:39are just snap brackets. They had a bit of metal that was folded in such a way that it could either curl up or lay flat, covered in a slip of fabric. You can still see some as rewards in arcades but they can cut people and aren’t really fashionable.

lol, that's not a hammer to a civil war musket! it's a rocker for a pushrod motor! a pushrod was driven off a cam that pushed down on the intake/exhaust valve of the cylinder. they worked well for low RPM's but at high RPM's the valves couldn't keep up with opening and closing under the spring pressure before the cam would open it again and you'd lose power unless you installed heavier springs.

While the pistol was in very bad shape and had been under water for a while and probably would not go off, I would like to remind the divers of the safety rules of firearms.
1 - treat every weapon as if it is loaded.
2 - keep finger off the trigger until ready to shoot
3 - never point a weapon at anything you don't intend to destroy
4 - know your target and what is behind and around it
I only point this out, because when the pistol was found the diver flagged himself and then a fellow diver when he came out of the water. At least the angle of the camera made it look like it. Would hate to see a improbably discharge ruin an good time.
