- This was my fathers truck he bought new in 1989. He passed away in 2020 and the truck has not ran in about 9 years now. I finally got the time and got around to starting it for the first time in 9 years. I plan to fix this truck up as best I can, it’ll be a long project for sure.

That sucker is clean! 50s 60s 70s 80s Ford GM Dodge all shared something in common in their golden years.
Thank you! Yeah she surprisingly survived even though she was used as a farm truck for years. Still a little work to be done though.
That’s a great old Dodge , built for the long haul. Good luck on getting him roadworthy. American Iron All the Way! Thanks for the video.
Thank you for watching! Looking forward to her being on the road again.
I have an early 91. Pretty much the same truck. You do have to love them. But they love you back.
You’re absolutely 110% right about that! I do enjoy working on her.
@williamhsteele What are your thoughts on 1st gens supposedly having "wiring problems"? Asking for an opinion, because I think it's over exaggerated with these era of Dodge trucks, even in general the 70s D and W series and the 80s with the trucks morphing into Dodge Ram. I can see "wiring problems" definitely being the case with 2nd gens and newer dodges/chrysler products overall, but the 1G era are the last of the simplicity, reliability, easy to work on, and good quality when it comes to trucks IMHO. That goes for all of the Big 3 too Toyota and others when they all teamed up on the Planned Obsolescence game, which we are currently in.
I love the non intercooled cummins
They are classics for sure! She a fun driver.
I accidentally deleted somebody’s comment, i apologize. I hit remove mistakenly thinking I was hitting reply. It was something along the lines of the truck would run long after EV vehicles. Sorry for whoever it was.
Congrats and I"m sorry to hear about your fathers passing. I'm sure he's very happy and proud to see you working on this project 👊👍. I'm looking forward to seeing more uploads as this comes to fruition! Cheers......
Thank you sir, I really appreciate that! Yeah I’ll be getting back to work on her this spring/summer. I just have to wait for better weather as I don’t have a garage to pull too much apart during the winter days.
@@williamhsteele Welcome bud. Warm weather will be here before you know it. Keep it up!
My 1st diesel was the exact same as that same Color too
This one is pretty sentimental to me as my father bought this one and I basically grew up in this truck.
@@williamhsteele man that's awesome glad u got it going buddy
@@Rick_Reno thank you sir!
correction.. NEVER use a wrench to tighten the oil or fuel filters
Thank you. I’ve recently learned hand tightening is best.
