@@r.french4415 Agree-- I carry crossdraw as well. It's not as fast as 'strong side' carry, but I find it allows me good access to my firearm with either hand-- especially when driving
@@M--GT8223 I know this is an old reply. Just wanted to say recently started carrying a cross draw holster. It conceals real good under just a t-shirt and allows as quick a draw for me as strong side. To me it's more advantageous to draw while sitting so it's good standing, too.

The outhouses alone would prevent me from going. I had an Uncle who did not put in modern plumping in his farm. Using the outhouse always freak me out. His well was large enough that if it was horizontal you could drive a bus through. I had nightmares I would fall in the large gaping hole.
"These shoulder holster rigs were awkward to draw from." So much so that it cost John Wesley Hardin his freedom. While on a train he was jumped by Texas Rangers, and in a last ditch effort to shoot his way out, tried to pull a gun from the shoulder holster inside his jacket but the gun got snagged on his suspenders.
IIRC Hardin had his pistols in rig somewhat like the "Antibellam" vest in the vid. Surprised in his seat by deputies, he jumped up, shouting "Texas, by God!", and drew both guns, only to have them caught up in his suspenders... as he struggled, the sherrif reached over and cold-cocked him with his Colt. Hardin was then carried off, unconscious, to jail.
It's like you're reading my mind Santee! I'm going to try my hand at making my first shoulder rig too. Found some pretty good pics of Val Kilmer's rig and I might have to give it a go!

A friend told me about this video. I am from Ocala Fl. And have lived here my entire 65 years. It was cool seeing your Six Gun Territory shirt. I practically lived there as a kid. I had neighbors who worked there and I got to meet many of the stars from the old western TV shows.
As a fellow leatherworker and a recent gun owner. (Own three now) I am fascinated by unique holster design! This is inspiring thanks Santee and the GR!
A preacher I knew was also a fireman. When the police in his small town walked out, he was made a police man. One of his church members told him he should carry a banana because it would be easier to eat...I don't think she thought he was cut out to be a cop.
Always been a fan of sholder holsters. Something about the elegance of them. For my Schofield I had one made by LondonJacks and was really impressed with the quality and comfort of it.
I’m getting ready to make some M7 Tanker Holsters, and now that I see them, I’m gonna also try to make something like those holsters at 02:46, they have the pistol at a similar angle to the Doc Holdiay Rig Kilmer wore, but it looks like the pistols are up higher…. That would work for me!

From what I've read, the crossdraw is the most convenient on horseback, but you are correct that the shoulder holster is the easiest to draw from seated in an automobile.
Two reasons I watch this channel: one, I'm a history nut and like the content, and two, will Santee get to say his line, or will someone steal it? *dramatic music*
I posted photos of a shoulder rig I made on the website I think that a shoulder holster works best when used with a short-barreled(like, about 4 inches) gun. The cut-down 1861 Colt Army, the "Avenger", looks like it would be perfect for carrying in a shoulder holster

Lived in globe Arizona back in the 80s I made one for myself and all my friends wanted one I ended up making about 10 of them pretty handy and very comfortable to wear
Hey santee, I found this old photo from 1905 in my family records. It shows a squad of men after hunting rabbits just outside the town of Wilmington, South Australia. There is a man with a grey beard and a pipe. That man was William Slee. Probably my Great Great Grandfather. If you search up " Rabbit hunting in Wilmington" on google images, the photograph will most likely be there.

I even had knock offs of the Raybans and a toy Bren 10 that I could have put in it, but never got it. It cost too much to get a leather shoulder rig for a cap gun, lol.
What a crazy wild show it was! Until Miami Vice premiered I never saw a TV series like that. Something in the Air tonight by Phil Collins. "Mr Real Estate" played by G. Gordon Liddy. The smugglers Blues by Glen Fry of The Eagles. Lives In the Balance by Jackson Brown. Elvis the alligator (another dinosaur). Don Johnson carried that shoulder rig over to the Nash Bridges series.

Thanks Santee & Co . When I stood Petty Officer of the Watch on board ships we carried our 1911a1 pistols on our hip in flap holsters. When I was a US Navy MP we carried our pistols in 'Tanker ' shoulder holsters . The tanker holster was more comfortable and probably quicker on the draw . Does being a Navy MP qualify as being Law Dog ? By the way , you are a fortunate fella to have a pretty wife such as Mrs Santee .

Interesting-did not realize they went that far back. I have a Chest Holster-I tend to wear it more as a crossdraw low shoulder holster myself due to being a smallish guy. It would ride with te barrel end lower than my belt and the grip in my arm pit otherwise.

@@stevenlein4772 And a funny story - I was so taken by Miami Vice that I bought my first keyboard (FM synth) - I play piano, it was/is a Yamaha DX-7 - the sound of the 80's LoL - And ummm I still have that board and it STILL sits on the board stand, and I still record with it! And it is as solid as when I bought it all those years ago! ....The Mr. Real Estate episode gave me cold shivers knowing who Liddy really was - he was just playing himself- pure pure evil. Thanks Santee & Co . When I stood Petty Officer of the Watch on board ships we carried our 1911a1 pistols on our hip in flap holsters. When I was a US Navy MP we carried our pistols in 'Tanker ' shoulder holsters . The tanker holster was more comfortable and probably quicker on the draw . Does being a Navy MP qualify as being Law Dog ? By the way , you are a fortunate fella to have a pretty wife such as Mrs Santee .

Interesting-did not realize they went that far back. I have a Chest Holster-I tend to wear it more as a crossdraw low shoulder holster myself due to being a smallish guy. It would ride with te barrel end lower than my belt and the grip in my arm pit otherwise.
