fajin is ideal for any situation in which an opening is exposed, striking from any angle etc. In particular shoulder fajing, and elbow fajing. It is most fitting to use it when you make physical contact so you can "sense" the opening (tingjin). These are all pushes, in relaity fajin can be used to strike, break (in locks), throw, etc.
To add also it's the fact that they held on and became stiff that allowed themselves to be thrown but fa jin does exist and comes in different forms depending on style.
To looker768: The Chinese character 勁 should be pronounced as "jing" when it is used as an adjective and "jin" when used as a noun. So, you can say that fajin (issue "jin") is pronounced as it is spelled although it doesn't sound exactly the same in Chinese. However, many people, even some dictionaries, only pronounce the character as "jing" in both cases.
This is a very real exercise. I was there too. I have seen and trained other masters (some supposed lineage holders)only able to do show fajin in a certain postures. Not to the extent and ease as Wei-Chung Lin does.
Yes it’s absolutely real. But why do humans seem to think it’s some crazy sacred secret thing? It’s not hard to learn young for someone passionate about fighting
I have personally encounter this kind of power many times, it's simply unstoppable. It is very very hard to learn though, even with many years of training under real master, which is hard to find.
just a little of what ive learned of fa jing. it is in basic form about the perfect alignment of one's body in relation to the technique you want accomplished and the laws of gravity. so its basically and i stress basically being aligned and centered, and using another's faulty alignment of fa jing against them to pop them like a spring.

sry but you can see that they are jumping, i saw fa jing at my kung fu teacher, and nobady juped that high XD take a look at bruce lees punch, compared to that it looks different
studying the structure of fajing, i actually did it to a kid, didnt tell him, n he got really scared n leg started spazzing...he was trying to roll around on the floor after and shaking to dissipate the energy, i never did it again, im scared of my power and im not strong at all
Why do the guys keep standing straight? if they don't resist and stand with their legs shoulder width, you don't even need fajing to make them fall back with a slight push.

I've felt a different fa jing from southern styles so i wouldn't know how to judge this. It seems real up to 1:13. Maybe it's a different way of doing it but it seems unrealistic.Maybe it's because it's a different style but i just can't see a persons structure moving someone like that with the wrist.
umm, while i can not tell how strong/powerful the guy in the right is, i think it is pretty obvious that some times the guys on the left are flopping quite a bit; they don't need to fall off so hard. that is what makes it look fake.
This is not fake. Pay attention to the chubby Asian sparring power with the glasses. He literally jumps up in the air and than the sifu just pushes him IN MID AIR away several feet. Thats some impressive power. That guy must have weighed 70-80kilos and to push someone like that back several feet requires incredible power.
@TheEidolon7 I don't know about that, suppose it was a fight between a master and a regular guy who was actually trying to win. All that you really need is somebody who is actually willing to try and take the old guys head off and you've got a legitimate demonstration. The student's arms better remain in Peng (appears stiff). If not in Peng, the teacher will move through the arm defense to the chest and that hurts. The sifu is young. If he keeps at it, he should be able to spiral the person like a top...he can already direct some chi downward or upward...most of it is mechanics but at higher levels, you will feel there is no force...it goes inside your body and exits out your back pulling you backward. It is real...the only way to know is to feel it...applicable to MMA? Fa jin is real, although it looks like he uses a little too much muscle to me. I can't do it myself, but have had it done to me by the more senior students at the school I attend. It's a matter of skilled use of body mechanics plus being able to read your opponent's center of gravity with your sense of touch (ting jin). Both of these just take a lot of practice, and, of course, instruction from someone skilled in the art.
The sounds of the people hitting the mattress sound like old 70s' gung-fu movies stock sound effects, I know that it isn't added in every time, but it just makes the video that much funnier.
Lol I assume it works better? But honestly man you never know. Wow I’m replying to an ANCIENT comment. This man may have lost his battle and perished looooong a go 😂
@@DivineAdversity777 jin is a effect of physical power from control and connection between tendons, muscles and bone structure. It’s something you pick up from energy art but not the main power. Energy art goes deeper into the elements and more power. Curse, bless. Control of temperature. Weather control energy art is not only in qigong and neigong and neidan. Extends to Buddhist meditation, magick and shamanism.
I think his students have been hypnotized to flow with the impact. It's like the students are so scared of the consequence of not jumping back, they rather jump back to flow with the impact which does not exactly show the real power of this martial arts.
Indeed. I find it funny that there is even an MMA vs Martial arts argument. Like Mixed Martial Arts vs Martial Arts... that are not mixed? People should be more concerned with specific pros and cons of certain teachers and training methods rather than grouping martial artists into 2 broad categories and then making assumptions about each.

Useless he says... in a real fight it won't be a push but a fajin strike will kill u with one blow... nothing magical about fajin.. it is an acquired skill
no a fajing strike ,exploding energy will not kill you it is meant to repel you not kill you lol and this teacher is not of a high level of fajing , still uses too much physical force to push off his opponent , a master of high level fajing hardly moves at all but you go flying ,the discharge of energy is from all sides of the body front and back at the same time and is why it is termed as exploding energy ,not because it is powerful like a bomb but because it goes in every direction like a bomb,so if you are repelling a person in front of you at the same time some one touching you from behind will also be repelled , Fajing is not dim mak to kill you with one strike Eddie lai
he was a amazing teacher and fajing can be used in many different ways pushing is just one small skill disabling or killing another you see this man was a real internal martial arts teacher not one of those fake demo guys no he unlike many others had true combat ready skill no mystical nonsense
This is not great Fajin power in some respects because you can clearly see the physical lever the students tension as they pushoff is the lever. It's not like a guy is standing sunk in a forward stance and is relaxed and grounded and just gets blasted by Fajin. It's good but it's not really great Fajin.
although the bigger man isn't catching as much air time he's falling back twice as fast ax the other practitioners due to his body weight. it's hurting just as much if not more.
Simple physic nothing extra ordinary now can it be applied against a trained fighter who is constantly moving and trowing punches, kicks, and grappling and trying to take your head off.I seriously doubt it.For all you people who say they are learning this, go out of your class enviroment and test it out and come back and give a honest review.
its actually a very simple technique. people think it requires a lot of power..and it looks almost magical and chi like.. although almost no one in the world will ever grab you like that.. or hold on to you and not let go when putting them in that postiton.. it does work. the hands lock upwards causing you to fly back.. someone did it to me. its just an unlikly technique to use.
In most of the throws they are allowing their center of gravity move outside their foot-work. In some, they actually go down un-assisted. This would not work (at least - not to THAT effect) against a non-complying opponent. TRUTH.
I was once a skeptic about this stuff... but after feeling it applied on myself by a master, I can actually feel what these guys in the video are going through... THIS STUFF IS REAL!!!
I must say, with much respect, that this just doesn't look legitimate to me. It looks very much like the SIfu's students are "jumping" and "running" backwards. If the effect was truly created by the Sifu's technique alone, then wouldn't the students getting pushed backwards appear less "in control"? They just seem to be playing into it. An outsider's perspective. Please fill me in.
@sombras1981 Hah! you wouldnt want to be on the recieving end of the real combat technique. It would probably cause internal bleeding. People have used this in combat for 100s of years. Its around cause it works.
Okay so deku quirk is basically relying on explosive Energy by slightly no effort. got it I think🧐

Bullshit mc
You have a point there. I'm watching and just trying to figure out if all of that could be done with minimum force as demonstrated on there.

Is it part of the training exercise that most of the students are standing square to one doing fajin?
@TheSharkboy2000 Because this is just a training exercise designed to test one's fajin effectiveness!
@kumogakuredojo Fajin is also used in Tai Chi and Tai Chi is about weight transfer.
Fajin is not use by Tai Chi practitioners alone... all higher stage masters in Chinese martial art can do fajin
To sagmann20:
Since you "have done something along this line", would you be kind enough to post a video of yourself doing fajin?
ok maybe "fake" was the wrong word. but I have done something along the lines of this. Its about core stength, body positioning, and explosive energy.
Why are the students' arms so stiff when receiving the instructor's technique. Why aren't they practicing suppleness?
I'm not sure that dropping your mass and projecting horizontally into an opponent who is off balance needs a cosmic explanation. It could be explained by phyiscs using work equations and examining pressure dynamics.
So is Fajin a manifestation of Chi or just the spiral coiling power of the body ? (Using whole body power?)
I thought it was a bit of both.
HI Taipingvlg,
Can fajin be terminated within the opponent too? E.g. an internal strike which ruptures internal organs?

Christopher Garland may I know great Fajin, if you direct me to some videos, please? Thank you.
it comes from borrowing energy from the earth. practice springing off the toes and locking the joints, not muscle. its all about body allignment.
The ones that "Jump" or fly through the air, can't be jumping. It's not possible to move your hip through the air without bending your feet
although the bigger man isn't catching as much air time he's falling back twice as fast ax the other practitioners due to his body weight. it's hurting just as much if not more.
Thanks! That answers my question.
To Paullywalnuts2:
Do you mean swimming dragon Baguazhang?
i been practicing the inch punch on a flat stone. no luck yet
to SanadaYuk1mura:
Do you know what "fajin" means in Chinese?
This is so fun watchung, firsst u see the big guy go and then the small one :D
Very nice
Simple physic nothing extra ordinary now can it be applied against a trained fighter who is constantly moving and trowing punches, kicks, and grappling and trying to take your head off.I seriously doubt it.For all you people who say they are learning this, go out of your class enviroment and test it out and come back and give a honest review.
But don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that these techniques don't work. The result is probably not so dramatic in real life.
1:40 seconds,what was that?
its actually a very simple technique.
people think it requires a lot of power..and it looks almost magical and chi like..
although almost no one in the world will ever grab you like that..
or hold on to you and not let go when putting them in that postiton..
it does work. the hands lock upwards causing you to fly back.. someone did it to me.
its just an unlikly technique to use.
In most of the throws they are allowing their center of gravity move outside their foot-work.
In some, they actually go down un-assisted.
This would not work (at least - not to THAT effect) against a non-complying opponent.
TRUTH.
"Pre-Heaven"?? bad translation.
I think that this is really cool but I'm having trouble raing it
See video: Chen Bing Push-Hand 2 - Chen Family Taijiquan Master.
I was once a skeptic about this stuff... but after feeling it applied on myself by a master, I can actually feel what these guys in the video are going through... THIS STUFF IS REAL!!!
which master showed it to you?
I must say, with much respect, that this just doesn't look legitimate to me. It looks very much like the SIfu's students are "jumping" and "running" backwards. If the effect was truly created by the Sifu's technique alone, then wouldn't the students getting pushed backwards appear less "in control"? They just seem to be playing into it. An outsider's perspective. Please fill me in.
Not chi! Just biomechanics!
@sombras1981 Hah! you wouldnt want to be on the recieving end of the real combat technique. It would probably cause internal bleeding. People have used this in combat for 100s of years. Its around cause it works.
