I’m an orchestra teacher, and it makes me so happy to see adults reminding themselves of their instruments and hobbies they used to enjoy! It’s very common for music learners to go through cycles of feeling low and then getting a burst of progress and motivation, whether children or adults! The low part of the cycle is especially difficult for adults, as the brain isn’t as malleable anymore as it is for young children, who we often compare our progress to (even if it’s subconsciously)! Learning anything will take time and baby steps are valid! Also I’ve been really loving all of your videos- thank you!
You can get tuning apps on your phone that will tell you if you're on the right note! But it sounded well tuned regardless. Hope you get your joy back with this violin!
I'm so proud of you for going for it and getting yourself a violin. I've always heard that the violin is a difficult instrument to play. I'm very impressed. And i hope you play more for yourself than for us. But I would love to hear you play sometime. I'm having our neighborhood party this weekend too about 30 people but everyone brings a dish to share so not that much hard work.
you are such an amazing host and cook!!! a small tip i have watching you chop the pecans is to put a damp kitchen towel under your cutting board if you can! (signed a "professional" cook who has hurt herself one too many times/gotten frustrated from a sliding cutting board lol)
It always makes me smile when I hear Nuala tip tapping into the room when you start talking and she thinks you’re talking to her ❤. Glacé cherries and bacon??? 😱
Loved this vlog - ahhh! Nuala’s ears were going crazy with the violin tuning! I used to play the recorder in primary and then stopped just before secondary. Really wanted to play the flute but the teachers were like “no you are going to play the claret” so I didn’t play either in protest! Teenage rebel 😂 Going to try the goats cheese in dates and love the idea of having pass the parcel as an adult ❤ eeeek!
I started with violin in early school but my mum wouldn’t let me keep it because she had to pay for it . ( forgot to mention that bit to her 😲) but many years ,later in life I picked up a guitar and kinda getting better from tutorials but I am now a proud owner of a big baby Taylor. Not sure he loves me as.much though 😂❤
I’m also thinking about kickstarting my next violin journey ❤ Haven’t played since school! It’s been on my mind for so long so i’m taking this as my sign to just do it.
Awww yayyy!!! I guessed that too! I worked at the Ashokan Center (run by Jay Ungar who wrote the song) and later my husband and I got married there. It is a hauntingly beautiful tune ❤
