This cover was commissioned by ABS-CBN, Morissette's employer (she has been on the Sunday musical variety show ASAP since nearly a decade) and Star Music (Morissette's FORMER label, she is independent now) for the ABS-CBN teleserye (a Philippine series) Crazy Beautiful You starring Daniel Padilla (who is from a huge clan of actors) and his then screen partner (and then girlfriend) Kathryn Bernardo - and it is one of Morissette's most streamed songs on Spotify. Theme songs of teleseryes that Filipinos watch for months on end every night during the week have a gigantic popularity with Filipinos. Singers like Julie Anne San Jose, who is a mainstay of teleseryes at GMA or Gigi de Lana who has been in ABS-CBN teleseryes, are much more popular in the Philippines than Morissette who concentrates on music. This song BTW did have a renewed surge in popularity when Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo split up. That story, of course, dominated Filipino social media. Filipinos being a sentimental (and gossipy) people like love stories and love songs like this one and of course are sad when popular couples split up.
Sir, "You are the Reason" by Morissette and Daryl Ong, a much better duet and an excellent song to react to.
Mori is very young here and this is early days in her career. She toured around performing this with then teen idol Daniel who was the big draw at the time. I have seen some of those videos; and I hate to say it; but Daniel was badly off-key most of the time; and Mori would come in and save the day. They must have have done a hundred takes of Daniel on this to piece together something that sounds pretty good. Mori is fantastic as always! 😊😊❤❤
He's a good singer but I think Daryl Ong would have been a better choice, he can do a lot of what Mori can, where this guy has basically a low vocal range, Mori has sung duets with this guy before, it's just in this he sounds restricted, or should I say flat lining, don't get me wrong it was good, but Daryl or maybe Eric Bautista or Christian Bautista would have been a better choice, but again Mori is a power house, you have to bring your best game to the field, sorry for going on, and thanks for your great reaction as usual. 👍
