I remember a fennec breeder friend told me a story of one of his vixens burrowing into his couch pillow, ruining it, and nipping at him when he tried to get her out. She had made it her new burrow, even though she had two artificial ones (one carpet and one sand style) of her own. :P

Wait, why? I've never had a ferret. I don't know much about them as a pet.
90% litter pan accuracy is amazing. No means yes. Ferrets are loud but not vocal (think crashing sounds). Food is always dumped. Every guests pants, purse, backpack, pockets or jacket is new territory. Everything under 3feet is theirs. Stairs need to be taken with extreme caution or you will step on/ trip over a ferret. They materialize when there is trouble to be had. Nothing that they want is too big to steal. Snuggles often turn into nibbles. They work together to mess with you. An open container is a spilled container. Ferrets with scent glands use them for retaliation, fear or "because I can ;p". The list is endless. They are the best worst pet ever.

My mom's friend let us live with him and his ferret. Harley constantly stole my stuff and hoarded it, then bit when you tried to take it back.
I’ve had many ferrets and my fennec is closer in personality and temperament to a ferret than a dog or cat. If you know ferrets, you’ll get along great with a fennec.
It's good to show the negatives. I love my foxes and wouldn't trade 'em for the world but even I'm guilty sometimes of making people think they're just gunna be amazing dog/cat like pets. Which is not the case. Though clearly they just wanted to be cute because they knew what you were up to!
Kaye Faye yes! Lucy has NEVER just flopped in my lap like that! And Ricky usually doesn't lay down for attention like he did.... he will usually let me pet him for a second then does a "nip and run." They're such stinkers! (But I definitively loved how sweet they were when I was taking this video. Lol.) I will post more episodes showing how difficult they can ACTUALLY be.... This fail was just too cute! I had to share. 😂
Heh, phoenix (The female & older of our two foxes) actually comes closest to being a "pet," does like lying with me. Saku likes belly pats but is the individualist. But yeah they just aren't for everyone! Hehe, Lucy knew she could get propaganda points by doing that. It did lead to one of the cutest shots of her ever though, she even looks like she's smiling xD

I've been amazed at how different their personalities are. It sounds like Phoenix and Saku are pretty different too.
I'm planning on doing a couple more videos about the things that are more difficult/inconvenient with fennecs. I'm open to suggestions! If you think of anything, send me a PM. :)
Again, Fennecs must know how to enter Propaganda mode when they want! Yeah, they do have very varied personalities. I don't always agree when people use the joke about them being "Cat software running on dog hardware" but that is one area I can agree; like Cats they have much more wild and varied personalities (Not to disparage the personalities dogs can have tho.) it seems. Kinda makes me want to meet more though I imagine they'd probably all just hide and then screech at me, in my experience they do not like strangers... well, with one strange bizarre exception with Phoenix: She loves plumbers. It is the most inexplicable thing in the universe. I don't even know how she can tell but if a plumber is over she will scratch at the door of the fox room and be like "LET ME OUT" and I've even let a one go in and meet her.
(Also random interjection, but I showed my wife this and she's pregnant right now and all she could think was "And she already had kits? animals like that have it lucky, no way I'm gunna look that small and cute when this is over" :V)

When people ask me if fennecs are more like a cat or more like a dog, I usually say that they are a little of both... but they're mainly like a skittish Tasmanian devil ...with the screaming capabilities of a velociraptor. I don't know how else to describe them! Haha!

My fennec, Buddy, is 90% sweet and 10% frustrating. He doesn’t scream like they show in some of the videos. His little bark is super adorable. He bites gently when he plays. Not enough to be painful. He does poop everywhere but he has his own room so I keep a vacuum in there to keep it clean. He doesn’t smell. The biggest problem I have with him is he freaks out around new people and lots of activity. When we are just us, he’s the sweetest, most affectionate little guy you can imagine. One plus side nobody mentions is since he’s come to live with me, I have had no insects or mice in my house. He’s a great little exterminator.

Anyways I love what you were intending to do. As with any exotic pet they are a lot of work. What with their shed fur, and poop, and urine, and trying to mark their belonging with poop and urine, and you having to obtain rather specific food... for them to make into even more poop and urine. I'd be interested in hearing of the terrible things I haven't listed. I spent just about 80% of my life on a dairy farm so I know how certain animals can be a hassle.

I've always told myself that I wish I knew someone with one that liked me, not that I had one. They're adorable little fluffy creatures, yes. But they will scream at 4 in the morning and they will make a mess of anything and everything.
I think they are trying to make a liar out of you by behaving on camera after hearing of your plan, lol! But yeah, I have seen the destructive, scent marking, ornery, bitey, etc... times out of fennecs in other videos. In some of your past videos already actually. So I can see they aren't for everyone. Though any pet could be that in the wrong home of course. Some domestic cats shown in My Cat From Hell for instance (Just' using them as famous examples as they are more well known) have had stressful lives due to varying household factors and had to be re-homed. So when it comes to a pet, any pet, you've gotta put a lot of consideration into the matter not just for yourself, but for the pet(s) as well.

Thanks for a reply, wow! They certainly are cute and interesting pets and would keep you on your toes no doubt. Do you have to meet a certain rules or what ever. Well with ears like that they probably heard your plans, I reckon a sneaky fennec cam would catch them being monsters!
It is different in different states. Most states require a permit from the Department of Natural Resources which has to be renewed yearly.
I wasn’t sure I wanted a little fox before this video, but after watching this video I think I want one now. Lol

You're right! They are NOT awful. They are amazing creatures. I love them. I just want people to realize that they are not 'easy' to take care of so that people do not get one on an impulse. I am a big advocate of fully researching the needs of an animal before someone adds it to their family.

You truly love your fennecs. In nature, the paws are not designed to run on slippery floors but sand. Bit concerned they might injure themselves playing. Do they have an outdoor enclosure with dirt/sand to dig in? Sunlight and digging makes a happy fennec.
There is usually a large indoor-outdoor rug in that room (and many large rugs throughout the house) so they can get traction when they play. I'd temporarily removed the rug in that room to scrub it.
They have a few different sand areas in which to dig. I often put bugs in there for them to dig for and munch on. They also have basking areas with UVA/UVB heat lamps to sun themselves. :)

Ahhh, I really wish you would make a series like this again. This needs to be stressed by all exotic pet owners. Exotic pets are very high maintenance.
