Thats cool man. I ise to rehab old houses. Aolt of the houses where from 1880's - 1910's . Ive found alot of newspapers in walls, shoes in walls, beer cans and bottles in walls, ive fpund a few coins here amd there. I alwaus heard rumors that huys would put a coin from the year the house was built in the plaster. It was said that they would put it in the plaster above the front door. I had a friend find an entire rifle in a wall once. I still jave a stack of papers from when the Lincoln death train came through a local town here in indiana. I found those ina. Wall of a house also.
Brass shells are still made but rare. Paper hull shells are still around. An old trick was to put the empties standing up on a cookie sheet at 150 degrees into the oven and bake them until the wax began to sheen through. Once cooled they reloaded easily and looked new. Roll crimping was used on the case instead of star crimping for plastic.
I worked it in the museum in town here for quite a few years. When it moved from the courthouse to a prominent Mansion it was called the Oliver, mr. Oliver made chilled plows. And I enjoy doing archaeological digs on the grounds in throughout the neighborhood. I wanted to be an archeologist when I was younger but I really didn't have the smarts... So I just fix things,,lol,, has a friend that bought a house and he was never in the attic and that's the first place I go or basement to check what is in there.....
I still have a box of red heads dated 1959, old paper hulls
Well someone found a bunch of gold coins here in Kentucky in a field. You never know.
Nice find! Nasty work, no doubt.

Look under old fence posts. People used to hide jars of coins there.
