    That'll end up as good, possibly even better than any Gibson when you're done.

      Hey Martin, thanks for watching and the nice compliment too!
      I hope whomever has this guitar in the future enjoys it, as it should be a pretty good git when done.

    Like the inset shots over the sanding and scraping work sequences. Nice way to let us see potentially mundane repetitive work but not have it be boring. The guitar is looking great so far.

      STaipari, thanks for watching and I appreciate the content feedback too!
      I want to make these videos worth the time spent watching. So, I try to get through the painful/redundant stuff as quickly as possible.
      Glad to hear the inset shots, I'll try to do that more often.
      Thanks again , take care!

    Can't believe I haven't used a "the Neck Project" joke yet... 😹
    A shop without blue painter's tape isn't one I want to work in! I just used some the other day to insulate a bare pickup wire. 😹

      LOL, "the Neck Project".
      Blue painters tape is a handy tool, multiple uses all around the house.
      Take care man!

    Looking good!
    I love this.
    Stratocaster update: the Strat it back together. I refretted (or is it regretted??) the neck and thought all the frets were level with my rocker so I finished the painting, wet sanded and buffed it to shine and reassembled.
    There’s significant buzzing on the seventh fret on the low E and the 21st fret is making the strings die from the 14th or so fret on. It clears up once I get to the final fret, so I ain’t smart, but I think that’s the culprit.
    I’ll level the frets once I get around to it. I will also replace the pickguard and pots, so I may just wait until I do it all on a weekend after I get the gusto and parts.

      Hey Tim, thanks for watchin!
      Ah, fret buzz. I hate fret buzz!
      Ya made me laugh with the "regretted" remark. That's pretty fitting for fret work. Hmm, need to turn that into a t-shirt somehow.
      LOL, let me see if I understand this. There is fret buzzing and fret-out up to the 21st, but it clears up at the last fret. Hmm, yep that sounds serious. Dude the way I read that I was nearly in tears laughing. I like the way you put this in words. Sorry, I know it's not funny, but I like your delivery.
      I'm guessing you've adjusted the saddles and t-rod. New frets change the playing field, so the old set-up would be out the door. I'm sure you've done all that.
      Take a break from it for a few days, then get in there and massage those frets!
      Be safe and take care my friend!

    Well, I still don't know why you don't like sanding with a machine.
    And a great job of making the wood grain visible, I love visible wood grain.
    Only thing, I'm not the biggest fan of binding. But I don't know if this Epi has a maple top or not.

    • @theNextProject
      @theNextProject  6 місяців тому +1

      Achim, good to hear from you and thanks for watching!
      LOL, I'm getting old, and my elbow doesn't harmonize with the sander's vibrations. Yet, the sander does it's job well, and I complain anyway.
      This Epi does have what appears to be multi-piece maple cap, with a veneer on it.
      Perhaps it is some other blonde wood, and not maple, IDK.
      The body is a nice looking 3-ply "mahogany", a nice center block right down the middle, with a veneer on the back. It would be interesting to see the manufacturing of these, a lot of extra labor adding the veneers, but they must have a reason.
      Take care my friend!

    I haven't done a set neck guitar yet because I'm not sure I could get it aligned properly. Nice work! When you were sanding the back I thought, "That's some nice looking mahogany, I wonder why they painted over it". I never thought it would be a veneer but your guess as to the reason makes sense. I think the burst idea on the back is a good one.
    Thanks for another great video!

    • @theNextProject
      @theNextProject  6 місяців тому +1

      JagStar, thanks for watching!
      The veneer is a nice touch by Epiphone, it's no doubt extra work for their factory.
      I'm working on a Fender start right now, it is noticeably a two piece body. The paint hasn't failed, but the glue seam is noticeable front and back. So, maybe Epi's process will help avoid that issue down the road.
      Hope all is well for you. Take care!

    • @JagStar
      @JagStar 6 місяців тому +1

      Yeah, I’ve had quite a few strats that showed the seams and it always bothers me. Hope you are are well too.

    Hi John,
    scraping is not more fun than sanding!

      All good here, you be safe too my friend!

    Will it sound as good as texas Tonewood bodied guitars?

      Hey Sean, thanks for watching!
      Really good question, both have maple necks, but that's where the likeness ends.
      My money is on the Texas Tonewood!
      Hope all is well, take care!

    1:07 .... Harbor Freight stamp set??!! Dude, I am soooooo disappointed! I was expecting a lengthy video of how you built your own metal casting studio and forged your own stamps!! 🤔 🤣🤣🤣🤣
    I would've thought you'd wang to paint/finish the body before attaching the neck...but, what do I know?

    • @theNextProject
      @theNextProject  6 місяців тому

      Hey Man, long time no hear... Thanks for watching!
      I ran out of casting sand, and just threw in the towel...Harbor freight is between work and play, so I just stopped in and handed them my wallet.
      Ya know, I had planned (at one time) to paint and finish the body. Then glue in the neck, like I did on that Orange Gretsch style guitar. But the way Epi fit the neck to the body on this LP is a bit different, and I wanted to be sure everything was going in the right direction before final finish.
      I hope to be adding some color back to this guitar in a week, got too many strat parts in for repair on my bench at the moment. Once the strats are out of the way, I'll be spraying some color - that's my plan at the moment.
      Hope all is well for you.
      Be safe and take care!
