Kim was underrated. She could compose a song, play guitar/bass, sing melodically, scream a wild scream, and perform on stage. Punkrock chick of the 90s!
I cried when I heard the bad news. I used to see The Muffs a lot in the 90s and even went to shows alone. The best show was at the Foothill in Long Beach where I was inches from Kim shouting and singing. When you listen to a band for so long and still love their music even though you've heard the songs over a million times, they become a part of you whether you've met them personally or not. A world without Kim around anymore is not the same.
The night I found out Kim died I had to drive to the store, about 5 minutes away. In the drive over and the drive back I jammed in about 6 songs, because they're the perfect pop-punk length. They're all great and just part of my DNA. Sorry to have never seen them live. This helps.
Never heard of them until people started posting old vids, I was like "wow, they're great, and she's so cute and obviously having a great time" only to find out she had passed the day before! Sooooo sad!
I remember hearing this track as a little kid and loving it. I didn't know what it was called or who sang it (I was pretty much only familiar with more mainstream grunge and alternative bands since I was only 9 or 10 years old).
A lot of comments regarding why the band wasn't a hit! My opinion is,it's cheaper and intimate seeing an underrated band then witnessing other bands success. It happened to the Goo Goo Dolls. I miss paying $15 to see them live and now they're asking @ least $60.00 @ every show. R.I.P Kim Shattuck

My favorite Muffs song. I am having a shitty day, this made me happy for 3 minutes and 6 seconds.
You can tell Kim was born to do this. God bless her soul.

Isn't that the top Kim wears in the Pandora's metal video? Super sexy...
OFR Yes the Run Down Love Battery video. Kim was already rocking the flannel then too... Powerful stuff!
It’s 2025 Eve.
