1st like! That 90's Show is so solid! I'm so thankful to see the old gang mostly back together, and the new faces are adorable. I look forward to seeing hopefully much more!
I'm not normally one to gush, but I'm getting old and sentimental. I just wanted to say thanks for being a part of a band that brought great rock into the world. For some reason The Muffs have become my nostalgia band, especially the early stuff. I love listening, but simultaneously hurts so much, reminding me of a time I'll never be able to experience again (that true old German definition of nostalgia). "Kids in America" is easily one of the best covers of any song other there. I still use "I Don't Like You" as one of my alarms on my phone (if that won't wake you up, nothing will). And I'm sure I don't have to explain just how gut wrenching "Sad Tomorrow" became after Kim's death. You guys should have been so much bigger than you were. Thanks again.
Dude, I loved the way you guys covered this song. Best version of this anthem to date, no one has even come close to touching the raw energy that you delivered while Kim belted this banger out. Rock Band 2 helped me discover your band BTW.
@@DesertRainReads Thank you, I will never tire of hearing this kind of stuff. I tried to play the song once on Rock Band & totally blew it, couldn’t even play my own bass line! 😂
@@MrDavidleerothrocksanytime dude, ha ha, oh man, you know you wrote a good bass line when you can't even get through it on Rock Band 2. I have no idea if this was the actual music video for this iconic cover or not but if it's fan made? I'm genuinely impressed with how the girls captured the energy you and Kim put into the song. We lost an amazing vocalist and you lost a good friend when she passed. Just know her spirit lives on in those of us who love The Muffs.
@@opossum4463still, the literal kids that made this video clearly had tons of fun doing so and they captured the spunky energy of The Muffs dead to rights. This was great.
Have you ever heard the UK novelty thrash punk band Lawnmower Deth's version of it? It's a crackup. Kim Wilde and her brother Ricki eventually collaborated on a punk Christmas song with them a few years ago.
Kim Shattuck MADE that HER song!!! She stole the fire and made it cooler! 😎💯 R.I.P. to Kim!!!! Everytime I hear the original, it just doesn't sound quite right anymore. 💯😎
@@MrJett1971 Hmm. Three names of artists who are not Kim Shattuck are proof that no one screams like her? Not to mention none of them scream like she did, as she passed a few days ago sadly. But with that kind of proof, who the hell needs logic and reason? More like proof that you need your hearing checked because I hear very distinct differences and Kim didn't scream like any of the three you mention
there's a film coming out this year called "kids in america", that 70's show writers making it so we prob gona hear a lot more of that that song. my fav bit was when yer one blew the mike shield away, powerful stuff
I love how every part is a joke about playing and recording..I love the keyboardist just constantly up and down on the keys :) and the backup singers and the constant strumming of the guitar not having to do with anything being played.
No idea if this was the actual video or if one was even made but Holy shit, it damn well could've passed off as one. You can tell the girls who made this had tons of fun doing so, plus, they captured the essence of the song dead to rights. Whomever was the director of this deserves major kudos for pulling it off.
Their cover of "Kids In America", originally by Kim Wilde, was used in the soundtrack for the movie Clueless in 1995 and reissued later on their 2000 album Hamburger, as well as being used in Rock Band 2
I've had the Clueless soundtrack since I was in high school, and this is the only song that made the cut to my iPhone. Can't wait to play it on Rock Band 2!
This song was the moment when I realized that I didn't give TWO SHITS about my own age. 🤣 Because this was a song for "teenagers"... but I was in my 30's and thought "Shit!!! THAT'S a good fucking song!!!" 💯 Fuck the categories.
Hope I don’t ruin anyone’s day if they didn’t know that this is a cover. Kim Wilde’s original version of this song was from 1981. Gen-X just wanted to make sure u knew that. 😂
Kim Wilde's version is automatically disqualified from being the best version because she was the first to sing "New York to East California" -- one of the worst lines in any song ever -- and she didn't question it, leaving that mess for other cover artists to sing as well. If you've already traveled 2500 miles from New York to eastern California, why would you not just finish up on the coast by traveling another 250 miles?
i am pretty sure these ppl are only in rock band cuz the royalties are a ton lower than the real thing. or they need layered audio for all instruments and the original dont got it.
ahhhhhhahah i think the kids/teen/adults of america need to have a talk with the people behind rock band. i hear nirvana, tenacious d, beck and.. where does this song fit in?!!?
@LRocker509 Sorry to break it to you, but the Kim Wilde version is indeed the original version, released in the early 80's. I actually prefer The Muffs' version, but...facts are facts.
Do you know if you watch a tv show, sometimes the people on it are actors and not really actually doing what you think they are. I hate it when I find out stuff like that.
The Kim Wilde version is miles better, but this cover is still bearable, unlike some of the other versions. Jonas Brothers, No Secrets, Hannah Montana. Poor Kim...
Gen V season 1 finale, amazing!
XD
what? was this song there?
@spacesheep6547 the mid credit scene in the final episode.
That 90s show anyone? Put a big smile on my face hearing this in there

Yup! It ended up being good! Can't wait for a new season
Hell yeah!🙌❤️
That '90s show rocks man!🤘
Bonus points to however knows the rendition from Digimon The Movie.
This has been up 17 years & I’m just now seeing it for the first time! 😁

The Muffs are awesome and I miss them. This one was always odd though as the actual band isn't in the video at all.

Fantastic. To be better than the original took some doing, but the Muffs were one of the few capable of doing so. Love it.
I think this version as well as the version by Fourth Grade Nothing are both better than the original. Check it out if you haven't heard it!
