- Curracloe Beach is on the east coast of County Wexford, 5 miles north of Wexford Town and has been awarded the Blue Flag Beach 2019.The Beach is a beautiful stretch of sand along the coastline extending from the Special Area of Conservation at the Raven Point to Ballyconniger Head, which is approximately 10 miles long making it the perfect destination for a bracing stroll.
The Beach has an easterly aspect overlooking Wexford Bay and the Irish Sea and is bordered on the west by a line of sand dunes. Curracloe beach was famously used in the filming of the D-Day landings scenes on Omaha Beach of the 1997 film, Saving Private Ryan featuring Tom Hanks.

I spent a good half of my childhood growing up in wexford before I moved away in my late teens. This was our favourite beach to go to whether it was winter or summer. I used to race my sisters down those massive dunes at the start of the video. Even if we tripped the sand was soft enough you’d just roll the rest of the way and still have as much fun. Also have some great memories with my friends from school who I still consider my best friends to this day, we went there a couple of times and made some great memories. I haven’t been back to wexford in a while because of Covid and whatnot, so thanks for taking me back with this great video 😊

Great video. Ireland has some outstanding beaches, I have never visited Curracloe Beach but I have a few others.
You should visit it as well, one of the nicest beaches this side of Ireland!
