As part of the fandom, I can admit they were getting too much every time the boys had a relationship and especially Harry, but he doesn't control and he's not responsible for our actions and words. Cause reading the lyrics, the narrative sounds a lot like a long-term relationship turned bitter cause the man in the relationship is abusive and toxic and in the end, the narrator chose to run away instead. Based on that, it matched Taylor and Calvin's relationship back then rather than the short-lived, on-and-off relationship she had with Jake.

It’s going to be on RED TV as a vault track, which means it was probably written between the years of 2010-2012 (no later than summer of 2012). I’m not positive who it’s about but since most of the songs on RED are about Jake it makes sense. But there’s no way it can be about Calvin.
I agree with your comment. In fact after listening All too well 10 min is obvious how impactful relation with Jake was to her. There are few songs in other albums that I can see clear clues pointing to Jake. A pretty obvious one to me is "The One" in folklore. There are many clear references to him in the song, and It feels she has a sort of second thought for saying "NO" to Jake attempt to get back together after not "Showed" in her 21 birthday and the sadness of "end of greatest love of all time". Also it looks to me another song "this is me trying" where she is expressing regret of her past harsh words as a shoot to kill when she is mad, is for him. Taylor said, long time ago, that she wrote "we never getting back together" when she was mad at her ex (Jake) and wanted to make him crazy, although later she said she made that comment in a bad day. In another part the song comparing the memory of the person as a film in theater (maybe another reference to Jake as an actor).

The song hinted that despite Taylor dated Lucas Till at the time (which a way better man than Joe Jonas) but Taylor missed the messy relationship with Joe instead of being content with the healthy one she got with Lucas and you guys can actually perceive it from the lyrics. I have to respectfully disagree. In my opinion and I wholeheartedly believe that the particular lyric, " he looks up grinning like a devil" is about Joe. Cruel Summer refers to the summer of 2016, "cruel" because all the drama that went down that summer, but also because how she was in the initial dating phase with Joe and kind of seeing where things will go but was falling hard for him in the process so "breakable heaven" it is. And she proly thought her saying " I love you" can take a turn for the worse and break the heaven she was in, so she sings/asks , "ain't that the worst thing you ever heard?". But turns out Joe feels the same way so he looks up and grins at her like a devil (someone who has given her a hard time(in a good way lol) with her feelings because she was so much in love with him. Also, I personally like to think Joe was standing below Taylor's window as she sings, "killing me slow, out the window, I'm always waiting for you to be waiting below" and "looks up grinning like a devil" when she says I Love you.

Honestly I think the song written from Tom's perspective is August. There's some good threads out there about it but it aligns a lot, the whole summer love, and the "teenage love triangle" thing with James and Betty. Also in Betty, there's the lyric, she [August] said, 'James get in, let's drive', kind of seems a reference to Getaway Car, which adds a little fuel to the idea August could be Tom. Exile was written partially by Joe, right? I think Tom is in the peripheral of that song, like he is the one "with his arms around your body". Harry, Tom, Taylor Lautner, and Joe Jonas are my favorite exes of hers because there's clearly no bad blood between them. Obviously there was some with Joe but there isn't anymore. Also they're all incredibly talented outside of being great people. Harry is one of my favorite artists, Tom is one of my favorite actors (if not my favorite actor), and I'm not a fan of the Jonas Brothers, but they're definitely very talented and I like some of their music. Music-wise, it has to be Jake, John, and Harry though. Tom would be up there if he had more songs because "Getaway Car" is a masterpiece, but he doesn't have more.

Now I would also say that the paparazzi, and yes, even Swifties and Hiddlestoners also made the relationship really really hard because everyone was always up in their faces 24/7. So I think it was a perfect storm of Taylor getting out of a bad relationship, Tom being a really great person, the paparazzi not leaving them alone, and Joe being more Taylor's type. Her friend highlight how he was the one chasing her for almost a year just to break up months later because he felt "pressured". Changing the subject, Taylor herself said that Better Man was written for the Red album, so it cannot be about Calvin Harris. There are few songs in other albums that I can see clear clues pointing to Jake. A pretty obvious one to me is "The One" in folklore. There are many clear references to him in the song, and It feels she has a sort of second thought for saying "NO" to Jake attempt to get back together after not "Showed" in her 21 birthday and the sadness of "end of greatest love of all time". Also it looks to me another song "this is me trying" where she is expressing regret of her past harsh words as a shoot to kill when she is mad, is for him. Taylor said, long time ago, that she wrote "we never getting back together" when she was mad at her ex (Jake) and wanted to make him crazy, although later she said she made that comment in a bad day. In another part the song comparing the memory of the person as a film in theater (maybe another reference to Jake as an actor).

Cruel Summer refers to the summer of 2016, "cruel" because all the drama that went down that summer, but also because how she was in the initial dating phase with Joe and kind of seeing where things will go but was falling hard for him in the process so "breakable heaven" it is. And she proly thought her saying " I love you" can take a turn for the worse and break the heaven she was in, so she sings/asks , "ain't that the worst thing you ever heard?". But turns out Joe feels the same way so he looks up and grins at her like a devil (someone who has given her a hard time(in a good way lol) with her feelings because she was so much in love with him. Also, I personally like to think Joe was standing below Taylor's window as she sings, "killing me slow, out the window, I'm always waiting for you to be waiting below" and "looks up grinning like a devil" when she says I Love you.

Also they're all incredibly talented outside of being great people. Harry is one of my favorite artists, Tom is one of my favorite actors (if not my favorite actor), and I'm not a fan of the Jonas Brothers, but they're definitely very talented and I like some of their music.

TBH.... Tom deserved so much better. I LOVE Taylor but Tom is my favorite celebrity and what went down with them was very upsetting in my opinion.

@@not.so.social Not too much is known because they both are really quiet about it. But judging from "Getaway Car" Tom was pretty much a safe person to run from Calvin Harris with. But she was simultaneously starting to fall in love with Joe at the time so Tom was a rebound guy that low-key (pin intended) got used.
Now I would also say that the paparazzi, and yes, even Swifties and Hiddlestoners also made the relationship really really hard because everyone was always up in their faces 24/7. So I think it was a perfect storm of Taylor getting out of a bad relationship, Tom being a really great person, the paparazzi not leaving them alone, and Joe being more Taylor's type.
I just love Tom he's my favorite male celebrity so it's hard for me lol. But I love Tay, I love Tom, and they're both happy now so I think it turned out ok. Taylor hasn't ever said anything bad about Tom and Tom has never said anything bad about Taylor.

Here to hopefully learn about which ex inspired some of the coolest songs so glad Taylor uses her experiences to put into great and iconic songs. Also I don't fully know who she's dated, but definitely Joe is a great match for her and it's lovely they write songs together and support each other.
Not an ex, but she wrote Enchanted for Adam from Owl City. And it's the biggest what if that still haunts me up to this day. At least, we got enchanted tho. One of my favorite songs of all.

6. Joe Jonas: they are on good terms now, which is totally great, but breaking up with an 18-year-old girl through a 27-second-phone call is horrible.

Better Man isn't about Calvin. She wrote it during the Red era (hence why it's gonna be on the new version of Red). It's about Jake. The only song I see being inspired by Calvin, however minimally, is Tolerate It
Harry Styles has also some songs on Red: I Knew You Were Trouble and Come Back, Be Here. In fact, Taylor did the cover for the April issue of Vanity Fair magazine in 2013. In that issue, she was supposed to give an interview, but she decided that some of her closest best friends answered the questions in her place. According to the interview (which you can still read online), at the beginning of 2012 there was "this boy" who wanted to meet her. They finally met each other at an awards show in March 2012 (the secret message in IKYWT is "when you saw me dancing" and there is in fact a video of Taylor dancing in the crowd along with Selena Gomez while One Direction was performing on stage). Her friends continue telling how they started dating after that and how she even flew to London to spend some time with him. But then, one night at a party, he literally disappeared and left her alone in a foreign country. She decided to go back home to the US and suddenly this boy sent her a message to "warn her" about some pictures that were going to be released in which he was caught kissing another girl. He said it was a misunderstanding, but she broke up with him. According to her friends, this boy kept chasing her and asking her another chance for almost the whole year, until she gave in at the end of 2012 and they got back together (Out of the Woods and How You Get the Girl). Red was released October 2012. However, she felt as if he was always looking at every woman who passed by. Her friend highlight how he was the one chasing her for almost a year just to break up months later because he felt "pressured". Changing the subject, Taylor herself said that Better Man was written for the Red album, so it cannot be about Calvin Harris. I also wanted to mention that Adam from Owl City was the inspiration for one of her best songs: Enchanted. And Alexander Skarsgard (the actor with whom she filmed The Giver) was the inspiration for another masterpiece: Wildest Dreams. She filmed that movie in Africa and she had to wear a black wig, which is exactly the Wildest Dreams music video (two actors have a fling while filming a movie together in Africa and she wears a black wig). SHE IS A SAVAGE.
