Read the comics, played the game, had the tee shirt, still waiting for the film. Rogue trooper brilliant.
Smeg Head61 i could see it using a greenscreen film effect and maybe Denzel Washington would be Rogue and Vinn Deasle would be bagman
Your wish is being fulfilled
What platform was the game on? What was it like?
@@UltimateDoomSoldier it is?
@@StoutProper Hi the game I Had was on the PS2 in the UK, but you can still get it or the updated version on PC through Steam. It was a great 3rd person shooter at the time still a good game if you like Rogue. Check out the Steam Store.
I’ve never heard of this guy before, but it shows that 2000AD needs it’s own cinematic universe.
My favorite take on Rogue Trooper was the Dave Gibbons WAR MACHINE retcon story that focused on FRIDAY. Loved it. I have that collected in hardback somewhere. I worked with Rebellion on the original SNIPER ELITE and would love to see them turn WAR MACHINE into a game.
I just read that one myself and I highly recomend it. Will Simpson have a very original style.
Mitch Boyer You worked on Sniper Elite?
I hated that version of the story, but I grew up with the older version with the biochips.
Imagine if these troopers were in the Xenomorph universe. Resistant to acid and such would be a serious threat to the aliens.
Unless the facehugger impregnate one of them since they weren't designed to resist anything other than the hazardous atmosphere of new earth
I wonder how the GIs would fare against Predator
The Mad Metalhead Rogue Trooper Vs Alien & Predator
The GI’s would be the perfect colonial marines
I loved Rogue Trooper, he was always my favourite 2000AD character. I wish they would make a movie but it would probably suck given how hollywood sdrews up everything it touches.
Love the 2000 A.D. content it's always a happy surprise. Thanks again Mr. H
:) I've really been enjoying it! seems to be well received too!
I love it but I subscribed for the avp content. Also glad someone else loved Dredd the movie.
ah that'll always be a mainstay dude :) just difficult to talk too much on it now I've watched alien covenant lol. but the alien and predator content will ALWAYS be here. I promise that.
Never doubted you sir and I wouldn't want the 2000 A.D. content narrated by anyone else to my Texan ears your accent is on point.
Their like image and dark horse a secret comic company
This is lost territory for me, I really have to get acquainted to Judge Dredd material, its very interesting and fun, enjoyed! 👍
do it do it do it do it
the not so great Kurt Russel film "Soldier" was probably inspured by rogue trooper, as rogue trooper also has a story where the old GI's are replaced with "newer models" just like the film soldier, shame that film wasnt that great, could have tried stealing more from rogue to make it less boring.
@@MethanoidPete or just doing rogue trooper properly
Although later years added colour, I always though that the Cam Kennedy version of Rogue was the definitive one. There's also a bit of poignancy in some of those stories - "We came in peace for all mankind - and this time let's get it right!"
Waiting all my life for a film. The artwork was always fantastic. The lone character on an endless quest, a sure fire winner. Honourable mentions to Judge Death and Bad Company.
read these as a very little boy, thank you for the reminder of this character and subsequent trip down memory lane, almost forgot I read these wow old age lol ,Thanks again Mr H!
more than welcome dude!
Thumbed up at 0:01 :) love these 2000AD lore stories, keep em coming, there was a character called Slaine that was really good, he had a huge axe and when he got angry he mutated and grew bigger and killed everything in sight.
Man that art work at 0:24,I think i remember reading a story and seeing that, really amazing.
One of my favorite characters growing up! I was unaware of the video game. Cheers for this video!!!
+Daniel Nassiri no worries man, just done another video, they have announced a judge dredd tv series!!!
My brother, now you're touching on stuff!! I had a friend that lent me four of his graphic novels of Rouge Trooper back in the mid 90's and I couldn't put them down! Great stuff bro!! 😀
I love Rogue Trooper, he's been my favourite character for as long as I can remember, thanks, Mr H!!!!!
2000ad each week as a kid. Loved em all mate. Thank you for sharing 👍🦉🇬🇧
Really enjoying the trip down memory lane with the 2000AD stuff.
Any chance of Johnny Alpha and Slaine videos?
Nice touch on the Rogue Trooper. 2000 AD made a lot of good characters. Ones I could name at the top of my head is Slaine and the Strontium Dog series.
was a huge fan of Slaine!
Loved Rogue Trooper in the 2000AD comics. He, along with, Judge Dredd, ABC Warriors and Strontium Dog were my favourites.
My favourite character of all time. Keep up the good work.
Rogue Trooper and Judge Dredd were my favs. Thanks for the background.
great character rogue trooper and his biochip squad mates, great video and info mr H ,thanks sir.
Rogue Trooper and Strontium Dog were my pre-teen years. For some reason I never thought to look them up. So many 2000 AD properties need to be brought in to the real world. This shit lead the way for my hard Sci-Fi addiction. Great video. Subscribed.
I love your videos and explanations Mr H.
Just was thinking about this game ! I miss & loved it ❤❤
DUDE. Utterly loved Rogue Trooper as a teen, had the first two oooold compilations but never managed to get the rest. I remember an American comic (I think?) picking them up in the mid to late 90s with more modern art but I didn't really keep up with those either. Thanks for this man, it's a great reminder. There's a new PC game out imminently soon...
yeah the new game is actually a redux version of the ps2 game, think it was that console, that came out years ago, should be good!
Mr H Reviews I'll deffo be keeping an eye on it :D
I still have all my old 200AD's from the 80's, Rogue was one of my favs along with Strontium Dog and the ABC Warriors, but Slaine that was dam good too oh and Nemisis, dam I miss those days.
Nemisis was with torquemanda wasn't it? Brilliant
@@StoutProper yes, well remembered, named after the notorious inquisitor Tomás de Torquemada, Grand Master of the Terran Empire in Earth's distant future and Nemisis the Warlock, the fire-breathing demonic alien. I would say one of the darker strips in 2000ad line up.
@@timjones990 yeah definitely, thought they really captured the essence of torquemanda 's namesake myself
Great themes. Great knowledge. Great voice. Great channel. Subscribed.
I know the Rogue Trooper from the game (2006). I instantly fell in love in that universe. I think I might replay the game again very soon.
+AGEMO thank you so much dude! Appreciate it :) they've actually just announced a judge dredd TV series is in the works! At long last!
never heard of him b4. Defiantly going to go grab this story!!!
Hey mate, I just wanted to say that I really think your writing is top notch ! Props from Ireland and thanks :D
thanks man, really appreciate that!
I loved the episode when the guys are restored to bodies and step in when Rogue gets involved in a bar fight with the Mili Fuzz. Prog 402 or so. Class!!
I only remember this guy from Ads about the game in comics, glad to know he was actually cool as heck.
I was hoping you'd go here, there's a pint at the bar waiting for you sir. Thank you again.
use to read 2000a.d comics growing up. i loved roge trooper it was like a gritty version of captain america.
Always loved it read all of them growing up in the late 70s early 8os surprised they never made a full scale Hollywood film though.
I remember playing the Rogue Trooper game by Piranha Software on my ZX Spectrum 48k. There were some other 2000AD games made around the time such as Slaine and Nemesis the Warlock. They were quite good if I remember correctly! I've still got the issues of Crash magazine(a ZX Spectrum games mag) with the reviews in them.
I missed this video but bloody love the gritty and dark Universes of the 2000AD comics like Dredd too, bloody awesome. Cant wait to see what happens with the tv show soon.
I just found out about the movie coming. My first experience with Rogue was Friday/Top/Eightball/Lucky when I bought the hardback. Pretty gutted to find out most people don't like this series. I didn't read anything after this story so I don't know how it ended up but I'm hoping the movie folllows the visual style of War Machine because it was a beautiful book to look at. So grim.
I honestly thought this guy would be a little too obscure for anyone to end up talking about him but i guess Mr.H proved me wrong.........I'm happy with this !^)
love rogue trooper dude! one of the all time greats
I loved the 2000ad annuals....it wasn't Christmas without them.
please do more rogue! He was my favourite comic book hero
Awesome character. Loved his story since i was a kid. Cant wait for the upcoming film....fingers crossed. Great vid mate.
and were still waiting 🤣
@@aikighost waiting soo long I've forgotten.
When I was growing up. my neighbor was a HUGE Judge Dredd fan. He would get the 2000AD comics. Dredd was ok, but I really enjoyed the Rouge Trooper comic. Thank you for posting.
I LOVE this videogame and comics, I'd love to see more ... maybe a movie perhaps?
I was one of the ones that meet this universe br the PS2 game, which i still come back to it from time to time
I had and loved that game as a kid!!!
I like the Rogue Trooper I have I read the comics before I have never played at PS2 again
The only bad thing I can say of rogue trooper is the creativity, when it comes to names
man, I was buying Rogue Trooper issues about 30 years ago, I even remember talk of them doing a movie with ol' Arnie in the lead role...how time has flown by.
This needs a movie
I still have this game and it is still fun.
I never knew about Rogue tropper untill I got the game on pc when It first got released baack in 2006, and man did I play that to death. A fantastic 3rd person shooter that everyone should try. The Gi jane`s are also very hot :D
Loving the 2000ad content, more please, Can we have D.R. & Quinch? Also some more current stuff would be good, such as Defoe :)
+TheShrike Ooo check my brand new video!!!!!!
As Rogue was called Rogue before the massacre, always wondered what piece of equipment he would've been inserted in to.....
I learn about this character just now. Never read any 2000 ad comics, since I never came across them. However I liked the Carl urban dredd movie a lot, so I looked up rumors about a possible dredd tv series and there i heard rumors about a rogue trooper movie. Thanks for introducing me to the story of r t.
I’m very intrigued
i remember this game for the original xbox huh
Ernie Esparza I remember playing it on the Wii
Ernie Esparza they are making a redux
The game needed vehicles in my opinion but it was awesome. Nobody let you get in their vehicles usually it's because you're blue isn't it?
i remember playing it for free on pc, huh
Learned about rogue while living in England, what an awesome country
Thanks for that and your great Alien Covenant stuff too. Rogue Trooper was always one of the highlights of 2000AD for me. Looking forward to the Dredd TV series too. Do you know what happened to the plans for a Rogue Trooper film? I always thought that, if done well, the bickering between Gunnar, Helm and Bagman would be cinema gold (think Dark Star).
no plans yet it seems, but rebellion announced the rogue trooper redux game is being released!
Check out Duncan Jones updates.
Loved the Rogue Trooper stories. I think after his adventure on Horst, it should have been left as it was, as sadly, they didn't seem to know what to do with his character afterwards.
Rogue Trooper was my favourite character from 2000AD 👍👍😊😊👍👍😊😊👍👍😊😊👍👍
Thanks for introducing me to this character, hadn't heard anything about him beforehand. Are you gonna do some Bladerunner?
next to Nemesis the warlock & Dredd one of my all time favorite 2000ad characters 👍✴😎✴
Hopefully the Dredd t.v. series works well. If it does then Rogue Trooper is an obvious future candidate for one too.
I had a character similar to this once, in my pre-teen and teenage imaginings. The Lone Soldier, last standing member of a unit sent to wipe out some kind of Aztecs or something. He wasn't blue though.
lmao sounds like one of the worlds in the warhammer 40k universe.
yeah id imagine there are similarities
Omg Mr H doing 40k would be epic! 👍🏻
do itttt
Walk softly... and carry a big gun...
yea though rogue was out in sept 1981.. way way before warhammer was ever thought of at the time it was dungeon and dragons.
I loved Rogue....grown in a Lab by Corporations to fight wars for profit on other planets not just on NuEarth.
First thanks for talking about Rouge Trooper and his companions as well as doing a good job talking about the topic. I even still have that old PS2 game which helped me quite a bit to understand the overall story better I even have a few of the older Rouge Trooper comics that have stories of The A.B.C. Warriors which is how i know about them as well includeing the tanks shown useing the Dreamweaver tech used in a issue of the series same with the decapitors. But I might know a odd subject that you might not know about from the movie Hardware since the robot in that movie was based on a 200 ad comic story but the orginal concept of hardware was a remake of the directors old *mm film he made years ago but added in that ABC robot to change the story. Maybe you could touch up on that subject later since it seems to fit in with the topics your doing now. I hope I'm not rushing you but please take your time.
hey man, thanks for taking the time to comment! appreciate it!
and thank you for the suggestion :) will be on a long list of things lol. never enough time in the day!
Thanks for the reply, and I know what you mean not enough time to get stuff done and that is why I try to be pateint want wait calmly, as the old saying, good things come for those who wait.
Thank you Mr. H. I gotta say this is really the first time hearing about Rogue Trooper, so now I'm rather curious about 2000AD. Has there been a face-off between Rogue Trooper and Judge Dredd? I think I'll look more into this.
Can you cover the Dark Horse comic that was featured in 2000AD "Stone Island" at some point? I remember reading it when I was younger and liking that it had some kinda Aliens-y vibes and I liked the creature designs.
This is old but I grew up playing the game loved it got stuck at one part of the game never finished it entill I was able to get the remade version for the ps4 then I finished it and the game is still awesome I really love doing the take downs and I think the southers are cool in the game I wish they could be more equal to the norts in the game
I loved the game! Didn't know it was a comic series
Yeah it was a good game almost seems custom-made for a fantastic game by giving it to right people it could be unbelievably good with 3 characters that you are caring around with you here hoping sum day!
Love reading the Rouge
I played this game before 11 years and it is still my favorite game alongside World of Warcraft i want a continue of the game soo much!
I remember this character from 200AD, we all do and there was even a Rogue Trooper story featured in Heavy Metal a number of years ago. So, how about an explanation to the robot hunter guy, Sam Slade.
It’s a cool retro game on Switch 👍
I want to read the comic soon
Liked Rogue trooper so much I got the tattoo
I didnt know about this flow. is it linked to JD? And is there canon to ABC?
remember this game loved it
I love that game! I miss it 😔
it was so good!
Nope never heard of the Rouge Trooper before. Sounds interesting. Did try once to make a story about a group of interdenominational fighters called U.R.E. Troopers though, didn't work out...I'm...I'm not a great writer.
new game coming soon, can't wait
Top video bud Rogue is great
you'll never catch me in the comment section, i'm too smooth...
like ice, cold to the touch and it isn't very nice,
when you left alone,
you let them treat you badly, leaves you hanging on the phone,
take off shove your loving to the wheel,
put the pedal to the floor,
cos your heading for the hills,
got to get away, cant take it no more,
man you don't need this leave it at the door.
He's a one track lover,
Down a two way lane,
Driving fast down the highway,
Must've been insane,
Cuz the temperature's too high,
Travelling way too fast,
And he knew their loving,
Was much too hot to last.
Holy shit rogue trooper. I had NO clue that was from the comics. Great game.
RT, Slaine and Sinister Dexter were my favourite 2000 AD comics. Aside from Dredd of course.
I swear I saw some kind of videogame demo at sdcc that had you play as characters with similar abilities. They were genetically engineered soldiers who were also blue and didn't need to wear armor because there modifications allowed them to survive in harsh atmospheres. I wonder now if its related to rogue trooper at all
+Andres Estrada yeah rogue trooper redux, they remastered it
Hell Yeah!!!!!!!!!!! Week by week is what I was About!! I loved HEAVY METAL!!!!!!!!!!💯🔫☠️🍻🇲🇽
that would be good to see the rogue troopers go up against the xinomorph
forgot about this, played pc version of the game years ago for free on gametap, had no idea there was a ps2 version
Wasn't Rogue Trooper featured in Heavy Metal magazine?
could you please make a video on the ABC robot :0
Mr. H rules!!!!
I picked up the game years ago and really enjoyed it, but I never knew it was based off of a comic.
That game was so good that it made me interested in Judge Dredd.
with a bad and good movie about it... i can't wait to see more 2000AD's movies being made.
Ooooooooooooooo. I so want a remake of this
they are doing a revamp of the game, out in october i think they said
You used a scene from yhe re-imagined Rogue Trooper but other than that a great introduction to a character from 2000ad.have you played the board game? if you finally managed to get to the traitor general you had to throw a double six to hurt him if you didn't he took half your health. nightmare ending but excellent game, plus White Dwarf published extra cards for the game. The xbox version was also good representation of the character.
yes i did know him from the game as well but i nevar mange to read the comics
I bought the redux on ps4, I loved the ps2 game but never knew about the comic
I thought this video was something completely similar yet different.
Namely the thumbnail reminded me of an very old DOS/Win95 FPS-style game that wasn't DooM-like but instead utilized 3D.
Can't remember it's name though, but I always associated that game with Predator due to cloaking abilities.
